4K on a phone is just a gimmick at the moment. If the iPhone 5S has more sophisticated tech, Dual LED and maybe even 60p/120p video, the decision is easy.

You´re right about the screen though. I hope that the iPhone 6 will at least have 720p, I hate these proprietary Apple resolutions.

Now if the iPhone had a way to deter people from shooting vertical video, now THAT would be a start.

I wish the phone had a gyro lockout for the video function or just an on-screen reminder to TURN YOUR FREAKING PHONE SIDEWAYS!!!

That's all I ask.

I think Apple should have went with wireless charging and perfected the fingerprint thing a bit more (if it even needs it).

I LOVE the wireless charging feature with my Lumia 920. It really is a huge convenience.

And what finger does the sensor want? Sometimes I feel like giving Apple the index finger, other times the middle finger.

Can't. Freaking. Wait.

Dual LED Flash.
Fingerprint Sensor.
Faster Processor.
Improved Battery Life.
New Colors.
iOS 7.
Improved Camera.

Let's Go!

Honestly the only distinguishable new thing here is the fingerprint sensor in hardware terms.

Posting a controversial comment on a popular thread makes my tapatalk beep me every minute.

The iPhone 5 used a newer CPU (A6) and has roughly the same sized battery with the 4S. However the battery life is worse probably due to the enlarged screen and LTE. This year we may see some improvement, but it will be minor unless Apple has some ground breaking battery technologies. And yes, iOS 7 is still new and it still needs several months to optimize the battery usage.

I have had both the 4s and the 5, the 4s blew and would always be out of power while my 5 lasts me the day. Of course the 4 was the best everz tho.

I hope you realize android also lacks quality on many levels (I refuse to go into detail as it always starts a war about what is and isn't and yet we see the same people short time later first ones to create threads like "S4 to iPhone" etc etc) and so we all know your going to give apple your money anyway:D

No. Not really. I used to give them all my money, until I finally realized apple is just recycling ideas.

That's for iPhone.
As for macs oh man, definetly a Mac Person. As they have good quality, I can't get something from Macs somewhere else.
But I can get similar features, quality from another manufactures ex. S4

I'm not trying to start an iOs vs android war here. Just simply replying to your comment " we all know your going to give apple all your money"

It all comes down to personal preferences, and I'll give my $ to a company that has innovation in mind.

Moreover, when this becomes more commonplace, it'll be the same fingerprint used for all secure sites one is going to access, whereas you could have different passwords for different sites. Iow, when your fingerprint authentication has been compromised, your entire digital life is vulnerable, rather than just the one unique password for a single site. Sobering thoughts.

I can't imagine a brute force attack being successful on a device with a limit on the number of failed attempts. Since a fingerprint would likely involve a string of several thousand 1's and 0's (while even an extremely long password would be 20 characters max), a successful attack would take a very long time if it's even possible.

Sounds cool...but I have to see it for myself. I'm concerned about the possible awkwardness of the button so low on the phone. Will you have to place your thumb at a very specific angle? Will it be easy to do holding the iphone in one hand? Or will it be awkward to do so because of the specific angle needed for the thumb placement? I'm just guessing of course. It could work seamlessly and intuitively as we've all come to expect from Apple.

I am a developer and am integrating an app with an external device that does contain a fingerprint scanner. In that scanner the user is able to register one or all of his fingers. I'm assuming that users will have the option to enable / disable the feature plus register all fingerprints allowed to access the device. It wouldn't be practical otherwise.

The YouTube Capture app has that by default, but you can override it in settings. That needs to be in iOS 7. I will never figure out why people take those videos, watch them on any device that isn't that phone and can't figure out it's as wrong as saying Steve Ballmer was one of the Apple founders.

Meanwhile... Most android phones carry this already.

Apple better be hiding something if they want my $
I don't know if Apple is hiding something. But I hope you enjoy your Android phone with

Dual LED Flash.
Fingerprint Sensor.
Faster Processor.
Improved Battery Life.
New Colors.
iOS 7.
Improved Camera.

as much as the iPhone 5S buyers will enjoy their phone.

Ok, my company has a policy of changing passcode on the iPhone every 90 days (I think). Would this mean I have to chop off my finger and grow a new one every 90 days? Ouch! I don't think fingerprint is the panacea for anything, probably easily broken by a dedicated person. I can see a flourishing business of making you a fake finger to check on your partner's iPhone once you collect a fingerprint from a glass, etc.

I think it would be a novelty, and don't doubt a lot of people will use it. I also hope it is really accurate and reliable, not like Siri. Past experience with fingerprint scanners in laptops (I don't want to be unfair to Apple as the iPhone might be orders of magnitude better on this respect) was decidedly underwhelming.

Tons of rumors but no official leaks of the 5S. I know there were leaks of the dubbed 5C, but I believe those to be controlled leaks.

Although those of us who follow acquisitions and rumors closely aren't "surprised!!" by this WSJ piece, I actually give Tim Cook some props for the double down in this case.
