Caught Him!!!... Sort of...

After coming home this morning from my girlfriend's house, and wiping down my keyboard... i logged into his user account to be happy, sad, and grossed out all at once.

happy, because i caught him

grossed out, because well... you know.

and sad, because i think this thing needs a flash.. didn't take lighting into account....

fortunately... he hasn't said anything, and i doubt he noticed, so i think i catch him again if avihappy would be nice enough to add a flash if possible..

I will add a flash, taking into account the fact that he can only run Garageband and Safari. Just know that doing so will make it obvious that pictures are being taken of him. Check this post for the update...

Be sure to test out the flash first, because you can only use it once before he realises what is going on.

Err... I mean... you shouldn't be doing this. No, no. Not at all. Ahem.

it's okay if he sees the flash, then we can more pictures and see the look on his face. especially with the audio this time. it'll be great.
 
So far, I'm only able to make the screen white (via opening a blank safari page), but I can't max out the screen brightness without using crappy GUI scripting...

EDIT: Is the site he is visiting a dark website (ie it has a black background)?

PLEASE PLEASE test this again on his limited account. I use things I am not sure your brother is allowed to do, so make sure it works as intended.

Nothing per se, but in this situation I can't use it because his brother uses a limited account, and therefore cannot open System Preferences to change the brightness. I have worked it out anyway, and now I don't need GUI scripting. The version I posted can do it w/o GUI scripting.

Okay, so it's set up right now... i had to allow him to use some more apps, but now all we should have to do is wait.... thank you so much avihappy, and once again, you're the ****.

What app did you have to allow him to use? And you tested it fully right?
 
I just tried the newest version of your program and it works. When I went to the site that it was monitoring, the computer said the phrase and then took my picture and made it the desktop.

This is so funny, but I have a suggestion. I think it should take the pictures and then have the computer say the phrase.

By the way, what did you use to make the program? If it's XCode, what project did you create?
 
I would say this thread is in the running for the best MacRumor's thread ever. It will do very well on Digg if you can get a super successful picture (obviously comically censored!). Great job avihappy, props to you for helping all Mac owners, especially the OP out by creating such a functional little App. I'm going to install this and put it on an odd site and see if anyone in the fam bites.

Is that what it does? I was thinking take the pictures and then say the phrase. But I guess picture, phrase, picture would work even better. 😀

Hmm, it seems that a lot of people suggest having the pic taken before saying anything. So here, first it will take the wallpaper pic, then say the voice, then take any additional pics: http://localhostr.com/files/a69c50/iSight+Spycam+with+FLASH+and+VOICE+Alex+2.zip

As for modifying the app to work with multiple sites, it could be done, but it IMHO is beyond the scope what we are trying to accomplish.
