That's great, and it would have been fairly easy to do too! I should have done the Uploading Bar, then started taking more pictures and the opening them up. THAT would have created a lot of shock!

Of course you need a "Cancel" button that doesn't work, so you can get them furiously trying to cancel the picture "uploads"...

and of course the uncloseable "webcam" window... see how long it takes them to figure out how to cover up the camera...

Will everyone who is having issues with the version in post 82 try the one from post 97?

EDIT: Check post 156, I think I've fixed it!

I only wish there was some sort of award that Avi and the OP could be nominated for. Seriously funny s**t guys.

Ha, well there were MacRumors awards a couple of years ago (I assume they've continued but I've been kinda quiet recently)... I think bv and e were the masterminds. But then again, I might be completely wrong about that...

OK, this version adds a little fake uploading window AND fixes the bug where it just quits after running it!

Here is a screeny of the window that comes up!

And yes, it does float above every other window and it includes the fake abort button!

I've been following this thread, its hilarious!

You are doubly awesome for going to the trouble to make this app and all the updates. well done!!

i should try it out...

Does it take a picture after that window pops up so we can get the best reactions?

And a log file so we can see how many hundreds of times Abort was clicked?

I should probably stop with the suggestions?

It first takes a pic, pops up with the pic being "uploaded", then quickly starts taking more pictures. If you have a revision to this process, post it here I will incorporate it.

I took your idea!

OMG I have been following the thread and I must say this is the funniest thread ever, and the look on his face:eek:

I think it all went very well...

not bad for a couple of macrumors newbies, eh?

haha... You should market this app, I'd pay for it if I ever had another house guest for sure.

you guys really need to Digg it up! to add to the prank.

if this makes a front page, then it'll be an epic prank.

Awesome thread :)

What if you added a short repeating clip of a woman being sexy on cam in that window so it will totally make him think he found something new....and take the pic maybe 5 seconds into it.. :)

I think that would work better in a different app, when someone isn't browsing a smut site. Pop up the video, they lean in to look at it, then BOOM, photo taken and made into a desktop pic.

Is it possible to take a photo every time abort is clicked, or would the frantic clicking overload and crash the app?

While in theory that is very simple to do, in practice (I tested it) it was very very laggy. Besides, you could just set the number of pics high (like 50 or something) and it will take a good amount of pics and you should get a few images with some shock in the victim's face. It tries to take images at as close intervals as it can right now.

Haha, fantastic!

Avihappy - well done on actually creating a wee app to do all this! I'm amazed how quickly you wrote it and are manipulating it to people's requests!

Excellent thread, excellent app!

Makes me want to upgrade to Leopard just to catch my girlfriend on Facebook.

And wouldn't it be nice if all developers worked this quickly??

Well done to all involved ;)
