This is so funny!!!! I have just read about it and seen the pics so cunning and clever you all get props form me =]

I just tried downloading the version in post 82 and a couple of others and it seems that once I go through the setup of pictures and the sites and what it will say it seems to quit (disappear form activity monitor) Does it have to be used in another account because I am trying it in my own account??

It can be run from any account. Why don't you try testing it with google.com with a 0 min delay and 5 pics. It should take your photo instantly after visiting googles home page...

this thread is too funny....

cant believe you caught him

I don't think I've ever been as impressed as I am right now, by anything I've seen on MacRumors since I joined.

Well done.

I'm obviously too late finding this thread - but one addition you could add to this prank for future use is voice synthesis; I've done this in the past and it worked a treat.

You could create an Applescript to speak to him as he "works". My recommendation - use the "Whisper" voice, and with the speaking volume down low so it's just barely audible. "I like you watching me, (insert his name here)" If that doesn't freak him out, nothing will!

Or you could just use the Hysterical voice, and turn it up full volume; if you want to totally crush his self esteem. :p

Even better, if you have another Mac or PC, you can log in via telnet/ssh and tell the computer what to say "live".

This is how:

Code:
osascirpt -e 'set volume 3'
osascript -e 'say "Look behind youuuu" using "Whisper"'

Enjoy.

snip

Enjoy.

You obviously didn't read the thread either, the app does speak - using Alex's voice.

well, this whole thing was just awesome!!!
the idea was great!
the fact that it worked was paramount!

Great job you guys and my god... that kid is ruined! LOL

...sinner!

And here are the pictures....

and a little storyline

Me: I'm going to the bar.. it's 1, they close at 2, so i'll be home in about an hour.
Bro: Alright man, see you later.
...one hour later...

I come home and can't look at him... cause I knew IT has happened. I click (very carefully, with one finger) on his account, and I see the backround....

Me: HAHA! That was pretty good, huh? I told you no porn on my computer.
Bro:...Yup

... and I kinda feel bad when I see his face in the pictures...
HILARIOUS NON THE LESS...

*EDIT* digg it up!! Help the prank! (yeah i'm aware of the unfortunate typo) http://digg.com/comedy/Is_Someone_Watching_Porn_on_you_MAC

Very nycee (borrat voice). You should tell him you shut it off and keep it running, just to see if he does it again... Glad to see it worked! For whatever reason build in post #82 does not work for me whereas the original program does. Should I just have both of them running? Reason being when I set a site on build "82" it says the voice at the right time and all, just no pictures are taken... It the original build it take the pic, but obviously no voice...?

Thanks but the problem has now changed, it keeps opening safari repeatedly when I close it and it doesn't take any pictures and save them to my home folder? What am I doing wrong?

What the app really needs is a couple more steps.

A dummy "Uploading Picture..." dialogue box with a fake progress bar should pop up before taking another picture.

After that's done a "Starting streaming web cam..." dialogue with a quick progress bar that opens a window showing what the iSight is seeing...

Then another picture or two...

LOL, even better. And he probably won't get a chance to close the window quickly, so more pictures can be taken that aren't totally dark.

I only wish there was some sort of award that Avi and the OP could be nominated for. Seriously funny s**t guys.

That is a great idea! The OP does have an iPhone, so it would be a cinch to do! That would have been a great addition, though the prank is already done...

That's great, and it would have been fairly easy to do too! I should have done the Uploading Bar, then started taking more pictures and the opening them up. THAT would have created a lot of shock!
