My problem is I restore from a backup on July 15, then after I install SBSettings and it resprings is when I lose everything.

after it resprings, restore from that same backup -- you will still have sbsettings on your phone. Don't let your phone sync after you've jailbroken though.

So the only way for me to "unjailbreak" my phone in order to create a backup is to set to factory settings?

I mean I have a backup on the computer (I tried using this after JBing) but it left my phone exactly the same as it was after JB. Dunno what to do

Try the fix suggested by Krafty. And yes the only way to unjailbreak a phone is a restore

I have followed these instructions exactly but I now have no ATT at the top, my number doesn't exist in "My Number" and i cant make calls/send texts. Any idea on what went wrong?

This didn't work for me at first. I was using iOS 4.0. I synced before jail break. After jailbreak, I restored from backup and the phone just stuck on the Apple logo.

Put the phone in DFU mode and restored + upgraded to iOS 4.0.1. Set up as 'new' phone. Jailbroke. Restarted the phone. Restored from backup which put all my contacts/pictures/etc back and MMS/Facetime still work :)

Thanks!

Weird thing happened to me

I synced before jailbreak, then jailbroke and no facetime. So i restored, phone was activated, jailbroke, then restored from my backup, but something went wrong and it did not restore yet i have facetime mms and cydia. Weird. It also transferred some settings. like my mail, my battery % and such. I guess ill just use it as a new phone. jailbreak and facetime woo.

I restored from my backup filem and it fixed MMS and facetime. I havent rebooted yet though.

Restarted phone after jailbreak. MMS was indeed broken. I'm sure facetime broke too.

Tried this method. Success!

Is this working for everyone? I tried it and it didn't work for me :( I must be doing something wrong...
