Anyone know if there's any way to keep multiple backups in iTunes? Say for instance something happens to my phone and I need to restore.

The only backup I'll have is the jailbroken one. Or will Itunes not restore the jailbroken settings?

This is a confusing question, but hopefully someone gets my drift.

Just wondering, do i have to have 4.0.1 to restore it and fix facetime and mms? or can i do it with 4.0? dont really feel like updating...lol

If it is now legal to jailbreak your phones, shouldn't it be illegal for Apple to keep putting out "updates" designed to break our phones, i.e. force us to update to the latest firmware and kill our jailbreaks? I'm getting tired of this cat and mouse game! This is the main reason I haven't bought an iPhone 4 yet.

No. What a weird world that would be if Apple had to leave exploits in their software by law.

How do I restore firmware? I accidentally said restore from backup after jbing but it just kept my phone the same without mms/ft

Question, if you did Remove Backup from the iTunes prefs, is that backup gone forever or can it still be located?

Use your time machine backup and restore the old iphone backup if need be

If your backup was created after you jailbroke then it seems you're out of luck. To do a fresh restore just choose set up as new phone

I never created a backup, but when I said restore from backup it must of restored something cause it took about 10 min.

Since I was an idiot and jumped the gun on JBing (Before I could make a recent backup), I set up SSH and made sure to remove all of my pictures, call history logs, and sms messages from the phone before restoring.

I performed a sync and backup after jailbreaking and before I knew that MMS and FT were missing. So i guess I have to do a full restore and new software installation..... then JB again.

Is there any way to keep all my installed JB apps and settings after a full restore?

it would suck to have to do everything all over again

Well clearly you had a backup otherwise you can't have clicked restore from backup.

Then this should have worked, since I never created a backup after JBing.

I Jb'd then tried to restore from backup and it worked (even though I don't remember creating a backup). I turned on my phone and it's exactly the same as before the backup. What should I do?

YES. Rename the phone and it creates a new separate backup. Just be advised these take up alot of space sometimes if you have alot of camera roll pics.

Awesome. Follow other's instructions.

1) Disable auto sync in Itunes (always had them disable).
2) Backup pre-JB
3) JB.
4) Connect to Itunes. No need to disable sync (from #1)
5) Right click and restore from backup (#2)

Sent MMS and it went through. No one to do FaceTime, but options are still on the phone.

Well this is odd. If you're restoring from the backup and MMS and FT are still missing then the backup must have been created after the jailbreak. You'll either have to try the fix suggested by Krafty
To everyone that lost MMS and facetime add this repo and install the package. http://iphonedelivery.advinux.fr/cydia
or restore to a fresh firmware

I have been trying to do this but I think I made a big mistake. I restored like I was supposed to but when i was restoring from my backup I accidentally unplugged my itunes cord from the phone. Now any of the backups on my computer are of either before I got my iPhone for or August 1st. This doesnt make sense though because I backed up tons of times but all the ones listed are Aug 1st or June 15Th(before I sold phone). Even tried a backup extractor and it reads same as Apple. Any fix to this? Or am I stuck?

So the only way for me to "unjailbreak" my phone in order to create a backup is to set to factory settings?

I mean I have a backup on the computer (I tried using this after JBing) but it left my phone exactly the same as it was after JB. Dunno what to do

This is exactly it.
1) Backup pre JB
2) JB
3) cancel sync when you respring
4) restore from backup.

Cydia, sbsettings, etc still working after the restore. awesome!

My problem is I restore from a backup on July 15, then after I install SBSettings and it resprings is when I lose everything.
