too SF.. macbook is a thing of beauty and practicality and not a thing of SF with almost bezel free. i mean i love any time the macbook pro 13" or 15" retina

is this legit ???

without the magsafe how do you charge your macbook air?

Can't be certain. But given 9to5's track record and the fact that he has insider info somehow, I am currently inclined to believe so. Time will tell

Bezels around a computer screen, for a laptop in particular, serve a purpose: unless you're sitting in front of a wall, it prevents eyes/brain distraction from a background with moving objects/persons.
Removing bezels on a laptop looks stupid to me, but current grey and fat bezels on the Air are ugly. They are perfect on the MBP line.

with bezels free its ok with touchscreen i guess...but the trackpad become useless so whats the point? still i hope with the current macbook pro retina bezels and no touchscreeen

The new Dell XPS 13 looks beautiful indeed. I guess Apple will have to do something with so many beautiful designs out there, and definitely launch the rumored 12-inch MacBook Air this year.

----------

This was just posted over on 9to5. Here

I have somewhat mixed feelings on this. I don't like the idead of a reduced keyboard, nor of the laptop having only one USB Type C port instead of all the ports a MacBook Pro has, for instance. If Apple chooses this way, I may end up sticking to the Pro after all.

----------

The Verge seems to be expecting Apple will launch a cheaper laptop this time: http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/6/7505187/apple-macbook-2015-usb-type-c-reversible

I think a new 12-inch MacBook Air may have similar prices to the current ones. Given the bump in sales due to the drop of MacBook Air prices, I don't think Apple will choose to raise prices again (and risk losing market share).

It could make sense for the entry level not to include more ports to enable the design to be thinner.

Whilst at first I thought I'd miss my Ethernet port, in practise it hasn't been an issue during the previous two years.

Missing out on a display port like the Lightning port is an issue for me. Even now with display port connectivity and a vga adapter I sometimes run into issues. Many of my clients don't have DVI projectors or inputs to their meeting rooms, let alone network projectors that you can connect to. And in my experience not many vga projectors work well with the dongle. As such at times I've checked and ended up carrying my network projector with me instead.

However when I take a look at home users like my wife, an iPad and a clamcase pro is doing exactly what this rumoured MacBook is doing today and with a touch screen as well. But then again my niece was over and she constantly pops USB sticks in her laptop for let's say active movie sharing habits. But I also noticed she hardly ever plugs her laptop in, thus the USB port also being the charging point isn't that much of an issue. And when empty it goes on charge and she continues on the iPad or android phone.

As such if this will be the entry level MacBook, at a cheaper price point, I think they'll probably have it spot on.

Now if they then can get the Pros to the current thinness of the current Air I'll be a happy boy :)

Why does the trackpad becomes useless? The new Dell XPS 13 seems to have a regular-sized trackpad.

Yea and watch the video...only touchscreen used...trackpad for what? Or touch or trackpad...its pointless to have them both

I have to disagree. The trackpad is much more precise than the fingers on a touchscreen. I don't think a touchscreen can replace the trackpad. I think it is pointless to have a touchscreen in a laptop (even though it may be cool).

I wouldn't mind having both. Trackpad for normal use and touchscreen for presentational use.

yes just i said..no point having both..i will always love the trackpad on a laptop and not a touchscreen..

Do you have to touch the bezel when opening the lid?
Well, when I open my current MBP, I start by pressing the side of the screen, but as I push open the screen, my fingertips moves down in front of the screen - Which also makes sense, as I have to push it away from me.

Unless they have made the perfect hinge that requires almost no force, I do not see how this should not also apply to a minimal bezel.

But even the Dell has a minimal bezel...
