Even with a Core M processor and just one port?

Yeah, those aren't big issues to me. I don't connect my rMBP to much of anything, and I'm sure the Core M will be up to snuff for the things I do. I do see why people would be hesitant towards getting it though.

I travel a lot, I want the 12" rMBA but with Parallels, and a proprietary work program I have to have 8GB is not going to work (I have to manage apps now on rMBP with 8GB. Also I back up time machine to a external HD, no way to connect without going wireless. I may go for the upgraded 13" at least I get a new trackpad and a slightly better battery. Also going to look closer at that new Dell. Anyone have one of those yet?

The 2014 mba was worse than the 2013 and that was after we saw the benchmark testing.
There is no bet on the 2015 but I would imagine the ssd will be blazing fast after the 2014 issues.
I have a 2013 refurb 4/256 being delivered Tuesday-I'll check benchmarks that will be out tues night to see if I will keep it or trade for a 2015 and more $$$.

Meh. If I didn't already have an iPad I'd be all over this. There is no incentive for me to pay 1600 (yes I would want the better configuration) for a notebook that has the same port selection as an iPad just for the OS X experience. The keyboard technology interests me the most.

Also, no love for the 15-inch rMBP :(

This new computer is utter junk for my use. 1 port? 12 inch screen? Core M?

Why don't they just call it what it is- and iPad with a keyboard

God ****** Apple, paint the computer gold and call it "revolutionary"

Pass. Looks like im waiting for the 13 rMBP with Skylake.

Exactly, now this is what I'm talking about.

Get that new Dell XPS. Thin, extremely portable, and you ACTUALLY GET A PROCESSOR.

Huh? What are you talking about, 2014 MBA being slower than 2013 MBA? Shoe me the data.

So affirmative... and so wrong!

I am confused. I didnt see a MacBook Air retina announced? I thought the 12 inch was for a macbook, but not air with retina?

If so, I will be trading up my '14 to the 12 inch retina model if that is in fact true.

For that pricing though was rough.

I was really hoping for an updated MBA that included a retina display but also kept at least the Haswell processor and ports.

Although the design shown by Apple today looks gorgeous and will serve a purpose for many users. I don't think it's for me, given how my current 2013 11" MBA is frequently hooked up to an external monitor and external drives, as well as it's fan kicking in.

I won't blame Apple, they just make products and it's up to the consumer if those products meet out needs. The 13" MBA refresh might suit my needs but I would really miss my current MBA form factor.

One port? So you can either charge it or have something connected to it... why would it be so hard to have two USB ports >.>

How much slower will the m chip be? I am looking to get my first Apple laptop to replace my six year old one and really wanted a retina screen, but I feel the new MacBook isn't for me since I would just use it for word edits, photography with my DSLR, facebook. I don't play games on pcs anymore. I'm worried about the lack of ports

Get a MacBook Pro then... this has no ports that u will need for photography uploads.

These are the the only two deterrents for me. Put in an i7 chip and I'll buy even with the one port. But geez, why only one port? Would it be so much to have two ports, one on each side?

Apple announced a refresh of the current MacBook Air models. It also announced a new laptop called just MacBook, with a 12-inch screen and thinner and lighter than the Air.

I think the MacBook Air will be no more in a couple of years. The new MacBook is its spiritual successor. It is the new MacBook Air everybody was expecting. It doesn't matter which name Apple chooses to call it.

I'm undecided to be honest. The only drawbacks I think for me is no magsafe to charge from my cinema display when I need to. No thunderbolt to connect to my cinema display. That one port does everything look like trouble to me. What if you wanna charge your macbook and plug your iPhone etc in at the same time? The more i think about it I'm thinking no.

You don't need more than the one port to upload photos. I do question whether it's powerful enough to run lightroom and photoshop though.
