This is going to be a NIGHTMARE for Apple Store employees holy ****.
My 15 Pro Max updated during transfer. What's the nightmare?

Charisma gives you a lot of chances in life...
I have all my backups local. So, there is no advantage.
That's cool that you worked so close to him tooThat's cool you worked so closely with Scott Forstall to know he only made one mistake. Also, it seems to have had more to do with him being unapologetic. Everybody makes mistakes, some huge. What matters is how you handle them and from the information that was available at the time, it seems Forstall handled it poorly.

Mine updated during transfer, but:
Pairing the devices took a couple of restarts, switching off BT and so on. Worked only after quite some time.
Transfer was announced as taking up 15 Minutes and needed 40.
About 1/4 of my Apps did not transfer, got the «offloaded to iCloud» cloud next to them (despite the fact that this feature is deactivated) and had to reinstall these apps manually.
Watch Faces weren‘t available at first.
iBooks still does not show the cover of the current book in the widget.
And of course, but this is not on Apple, all banking apps are a nightmare to re-authenticate.
Small stuff, but taking up the day and annoying.
On the other hand, eSIM and Watch activation worked perfectly smooth and about 70% of the installation was easier than ever. Very nice work (despite the bugs)
Weird, I don't remember that in my post EITHER.Weird, I don't remember that in my post.
This.I'm not sure how this is an 'epic fail' as many are saying. I own any number of machines (computers, gaming consoles, etc.) that **REQUIRE** updating to the latest OS/SW version before using them. At least this one is actually fixing an issue.
They've been selling BETA products for years. They know way ahead what they want to release yet they provide you with an OS that promises new features that won't get released until they next hardware is lurking around the corner."Day 1 update" seems to be something that is "industry practice" at this point.
Their generative AI is doing the testing. Apparently not doing that well, but seeing how Siri stagnated thats not a surprise. How the **** did this pass software check
