Exactly my point. Hopefully should shut up the "Tim Cook is ruining Apple" whiners until the next product launch.Because he would be for this...

You’re getting a lot of flak for this comment, but regardless of low/high end Mac you’re not wrong. Lack of eGPU support is a real blow.Watch my 2020 MBP connect to an eGPU and obliterate the M1 while connected to my Nikon, SSD and two external monitors at the same time like an actual professional device.
Awww.... too soon? Maybe they’ll get it right with the M2.
That what happens when you have appropriate memory management technology in place. Over the years, we have been taught by PC/Android community that there is always a need of more RAM. As a consequence, they started pulling android phones with 8GB of RAM or more, which is ridiculous. Apple never really officially released the RAM capacity of the iPhone for a reason. It just didnt matter at all. With M1, Apple showed us that 8GB is a lot of RAM that for the vast majority of people is more than sufficient and if it is properly managed it could be blazing fast (Typying on a laptop PC that currently uses 6,7GB of RAM with only a few browser tabs opened).Wow! Despite only having 8GB of RAM, the M1 MacBook Pro's fans did not audibly spin-up when 50 apps were open or when 10 YouTube videos were playing simultaneously.
Although I would get 16GB of RAM if I bought an M1 MacBook Air (I prefer the Air), it's amazing that only 8GB was enough for the fans not to audibly spin-up when 50 apps were opened or when 10 YouTube videos were playing simultaneously.
25 watt system in package or only the CPU?According to Anandtech, it is a 25 watt processor.
I am proposing the CPU as it also says in the article that power draw at the outlet [power outlet] is 31-32 watts.25 watt system in package or only the CPU?
Ya, I appreciate my lap warmer when I'm out in the shed on a cold day.But it heats the house so well in the winter.![]()
I just traded in my 2020 i5 16/1TB that I bought last week for an M1 8/512. Man it’s fast. Immediately noticeable fast. Everything moves and launches very quickly and smoothly.
The whole thing. Not just the cpu, that’s impressive25 watt system in package or only the CPU?
Trade those suckers in.
Well the performance is great no doubt.
But i would apreciate some test from daily use.
I mean, why and how often do you opening all your 50 aps one by one?
The exporting in fcpx is better.
In real life does the 2-3 minutes makes any difference? Not really.
Those are some evaluation factors for me personaly to judge if ist worth to switch or not...and nit just follow the best gear syndrom
But i have to add as well that apple did great job with the m1 and its very good ofcourse![]()
It will be interesting to see how much these M1 units cannibalise “higher spec” Macs in the short term given that they blow them out of the water, e.g. perversely the average Mac price purchased drops significantly? I guess a lot depends how long it takes to have a M(x) “high spec” offer to replace them.
I guess a hit to the value of secondhand X86 Macs to?
You mean RAM, not storage, I think. The M1 MacBook Pro, which is the base model with 8GB storage
Actually, I’m ‘dancing around like a fairy’ because of what these first efforts mean to the future of the mac.The low end MacBook Pros are junk. And you guys are dancing around like fairies celebrating the fact that the M1 can beat them.
How many years did it take Apple to get the Mac Pro right?
Double that and that's when you'll see Apple silicon that can compete with it.
Ahh the old ‘write it big and people will believe me’ trick. Good one.You see, Steve Jobs absolutely intend to develop a more power-efficient version of x86 by licensing with Intel and can be integrated into the Apple-designed SoC.
Therefore, Rosetta 2 is not required and won't be having any sort of reduction in performance or compatibility issues.
Tim Cook is not that visionary and you will be buying inferior Apple products for years to come.
2020 13-inch MacBook Pro with 1.4GHz quad-core Core i5 processor, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645, and 8GB RAM.

I guess it depends what your profession is..... 🤷♀️Watch my 2020 MBP connect to an eGPU and obliterate the M1 while connected to my Nikon, SSD and two external monitors at the same time like an actual professional device.
