i tried everything, like turning off specific battery draining settings etc... and still not quite sure if the battery is normal on my 38mm because i only get maximum 12-14 hours even doing very little with the watch. i deleted the calendar and heartrate glances and disabled hey siri. its my 5th day with the watch. i dont know if i should return the watch for another.
can more people share their battery experience of an 38mm AW?
I had been complaining about bad watch battery life up the thread. It just so happens that I accidentally smashed my iPhone and I had it replaced over the weekend via AppleCare Plus.
Since then, my watch battery life has been much better. I have reached 11 hours since taking it off the charger, and remaining percentage is over 60% whereas previously I would be lukcy to have 30% at this stage.

How did you accidentally smash your iPhone?
Did you "armor up" yourwatch prevent a similar experience?

I have a 42mm and my wife has a 38mm. We seem to be having very different battery experiences.
I've had mine since launch and she got hers last week. As far as I can tell we use the watch quite similarly with neither of us using it significantly more than the other. We also get up and go to bed just about the same time.
On average for the past 5 days (7am wake-11pm bed):
42mm - 30-40% at end of day
38mm - 10-15% at end of day
That's about a 20% or more difference in battery drain. I wouldn't think that the 38mm's smaller battery would provide 20% less power per day - seems odd.
Are your settings the same? I have a 38mm and keep the same hours as you and your wife, 7am-11pm. I have only once went to bed with less than 40%. It was a day I used the tracker for a 2 1/2 hour outdoor cycle ride. That day it took a dramatic hit and I was left with 14%.
I have hey Siri on, brightness at full, haptic at full and prominent haptic on. On average I get 30-40 notifications/texts per day and an occasional short phone call. I'm still on Watch OS 1.0 and the Heart Rate reads every 10 minutes.
I dropped it on the bathroom floor...landed face down.
We are on similar settings but she does had prominent haptic on (I don't). Medium brightness, Hey Siri is on.
We both have been doing about 45 minute workouts using the Activity tracker per day.
I have done a hard reset of her watch also - didn't seem to improve anything.
Does she have more apps loaded? More interaction (background communication to apps) from her phone?
I have tested both watches with same settings too.I have a 42mm and my wife has a 38mm. We seem to be having very different battery experiences.

So I got my watch last night, used it for a few hours, then went to bed, putting the watch on the charger. Took it off the charger about 11:30am today (100% battery). Haven't done a whole lot on it (did a 5 minute GPS run, looked at a few texts) and now it's 1:00pm and it is at 92%. Is that normal for the Watch?
Hi everyone!
yesterday arrived my brand new apple watch 38 mm space gray. Gourgeus!!
But i'm already worried about battery life. I unplagged it at 6.00 a.m. at 100% (of course) and now it's 12.30 a.m. (here in Italy) ad the battery level is 21%. I only checked 5/6 notifications and nothing special more.
Someone says it coud be normal for the second day life of the device. but i'm not so sure!
Please help me....if u can!
Thx a lot
I switched phones again on Tuesday and have noticed significant battery drain with my new phone. I've gone from a 64GB 6+ to a 64GB 6 to a 128GB 6 to a 128GB 6+ in the last two weeks. Had no issues with the other three phones, but with the 128GB 6+ its pretty bad. Like 1% a minute. Not even looking at it. I'm thinking a restore is in order, and not using the 10W iPad charger anymore. I'm usually at ~30% by 10:00 PM, but yesterday I went to Power Reserve by 4:00 PM. Strange. Turned off Hey Siri, turned off heartbeat, animations and transparency etc and had no effect on it.
Day 2 and I'm really not thrilled with the battery life. Seems to be draining at a rate of about 10%+ an hour. undocked at 6:50am and it's now 2:20 and I'm at 27%. Several notifications, one voice text message, and a few setting changes but nothing else. In that time I even put it in power reserve for 30 mins.
I heard potentially un-pairing and repairing might help? Anyone have any other tips? I deactivated "hey Siri" and turned the brightness down halfway through that time and it didn't seem to drain any more slowly.
I do feel like I'm checking the battery pretty frequently, by looking at the watch face. Maybe as bad as once every 5 mins. Could that play a role? I've got a pretty basic watch face.
I don't want to have to get a new one, hoping I can fix this some way. I did get the 1.01 update yesterday.
