I have the series 5.After updating to watchOS 7.0 my battery was fine. Only after updating to 7.0.2 where I noticed that my watch battery is drastically dropping. I get 10% battery health after a day's work (8am-6pm) with not much work on the watch.

Anybody else facing this issue?

Hi, I've experienced exactly the same.
In Watch OS 7, my battery was better than ever before.
Without changing anything, after updating to 7.0.1 (& 7.0.2) it's gotten terrible.
I've un-paired and re-paired several times, both from iCloud backup as from scratch.
Hope they'll fix it with a future update.

I installed the updates fingers crossed battery life would improve but its got worse not better.

I used to have 50% left at the end of a day, with 7 it was in the low 40% and now with the latest updates am regularly at or below 30%.

Apple are normally pretty good with things like this but so far for the watch its pretty darn poor to say the least.

So with 7.0.1 on myAW 5 I now have 37 hours standby, 2 hours active use and still 19% left!
Only thing I did was to turn off AOD. Way better than OS 6! Kind of hesitant to put on 7.0.3 now.

My problem seemed to be a "one-time issue". Even thought I am certain that my use was never changed for the watch. Things seem to be OK now. 🤨

I dont know what they did but my Apple Watch now drains slower. After updating to ios7 and 14.0.1 at the end of the day (around 23:00) watch was at 50-60%. Now I am at 89%, it is 14:00, and I took it of charger at 6:30. Anyone else having better battery life?

@nph where do you see how much you used your apple watch? As I can see from battery stats, I only see battery percentage in settings of the apple watch. Thanks.

I presume @nph uses Battery Grapher?

Curious to know what's the battery impact in WatchOS 7.1,currently in beta? Beta testers?

Wow I had AOD off and had 19% lefter after 37hours of standby and 2h51min of activity. For me 7.0.1 really improved battery from OS 6.

is it possible to turn off gps for apple watch 6?

what do you think ABOUT BATTERY life without gps ?
i think don't need gps.

GPS is only used when required (no iPhone with you AND an application that require accurate localization).
It eats nothing if you don't track an outdoor activity (running, cycling ...)

I didn't have time to read through 20 pages of comments, but this is my issue except that it started with the initial 7.0 version. Since I'm WFH and not wearing my watch constantly, the fact that my AW5's battery usage seems to have gotten worse on 7.0/7.02 isn't a practical problem. On watchOS 6 I could almost go 2 days, but no more. Often down to 20-30% after 12 hours, which actually isn't far off from the 18 hours advertised. but sure seems to drain a lot faster than before I switched to watchOS 7.

For those of you experiencing bad battery life, it might be worth investigating your usage of the Reminders app.
From my perspective, it's been a hassle during the last few months/even years with the syncing of Reminders across all devices.

Especially when using the Apple Watch, I've experienced reminders popping up too late or still popping up after I've unchecked them on any other device. Since I've been experiencing very bad battery life as well on both the Apple Watch S5 and S6, I've investigated A LOT about what could be possibly draining the battery so fast. I ended up having a look at the Reminders.

I’ve been trying out the workaround of @rjpalumbo24 and it actually seems to work!

Here’s what I’ve done:

1. Deleted all my reminders on every device (iPhone, iPad, MacBook)
2. Stopped syncing reminders in iCloud
3. Rebooted iPhone
4. Un-pair & re-pair the Watch. This may not be necessary, but I did it either way.
5. From now on, I only use reminders locally (on iPhone - AW), iCloud syncing is still disabled (only for Reminders).

The results so far are simply stunning.
Before, my Watch didn’t even last a day (approximately 12h standby, up to 2h of usage). AOD off.
After the first cycle with these new settings, my battery lasted 34h (standby, ± 5h usage, several workouts included).

Not sure if this might help others with the draining issues, but as my results were too surprising, I wanted to share this.

No way that you have to do all of this to get all day battery life. It’s you, not the watch.

Pardon my French, but that is just bullsh*t.
This just emphasizes the importance of your settings. I haven't changed my personal habits, I just changed some settings and suddenly battery life doubled. The evidence is obvious.

I get all day plus battery life every day since I got my product red S6 - lose around 10% most nights with theatre mode on. I charged it to full last night before bed at 11pm and now at 420pm I have 59% left. I use it whilst delivering at work to change music tracks on the carplay and for directions with some hard to find directions. Done 12k steps so far. I could almost certainly get two days out of it at my current workload...I am very pleased with it.
