Title says it all, my series 3 watch more times than not for the last few weeks, stops charging at 93% (twice at 94%) despite being on the charger for 6-7 hours. There’s been a small handful of nights that it actually charges to 100%, but it’s becoming less common.

Three possibilities: (Make sure your WatchOS is up to date.)

1.) Attempt a hard reset by holding down the power button and digital crown.

2.) You can also drain the battery completely, then charge the battery to full.

3.) Possible hardware/battery failing.

No it’s never gotten low enough to die on me. The battery life is too good for that to happen, also why this issue isn’t really all that bad. I’m quite certain it’s some sort of software issue. If I were still using my old watch then it would certainly be a different story...that thing had to be put on the charger at least once during the course of my day to avoid running down to zero prior to going to bed at night.

As @Relentless Power mentioned, have you restarted it? I noticed earlier this week that mine had resprung one night and I thought all was well, but afterwards, even after leaving it charging all night, the following morning it would be 'stuck' at 95%. This was the same for three days.

After the third day I grew a bit tired of the issue so elected to give it the ol' restart. One restart later and it was at 99%, followed by a quick charge back to 100%. Since then it's been fine.

Yeah, it’s been rebooted a few times. Like I said before, it’s not too concerning as of yet because the battery life is so good on the series 3. If it continues like this as the battery life declines it’ll become more of an issue.

As a side note, last night it charged all the way to 100%.

Oddly I had the issue again today; after an all night charge it ended up at just 93%. Knowing what I know now, I tried to shut it down but got another respring for my efforts instead. When it came back, despite it being on the charger the whole time, it said 91%!

After making sure it properly shut down and restarted it returned to normal charging again.

Can't help wondering if this is a bug in 4.2.2...

My AW3 is also not fully charging. Stops somewhere between 93-97%. I think this started happening with the last firmware update. I restarted and reset the watch, and it was fine for a week or so. The problem then started again. It was on the charger all night and is now stuck at 95%. I have seen other similar reports, so I am hoping it is a firmware issue rather than a hardware issue.

I think it’s a bug from prior to 4.2.2 because it started for me the week that 4.2.2 came out but I hadn’t installed it yet. That’s when I first saw the charging issue pop up for me. I was going to download and install 4.2.2 that Thursday or Friday morning and saw that my watch had only charged to 93%. So it existed before 4.2.2 for me at least.

I mainly created this thread (there’s other threads on the topic but this is the only one so far that specifies 93-94% charge) to bring this to light and make other people aware that their watches might have this issue as well. I think it’s not more widely being reported because the battery life is so much better on the series 3 than previous generations and people aren’t as concerned about their watch making it through the day.

I'm having the exact same problem with my Series 3. Hard resets will temporarily fix the issue, but that fix only usually lasts a few days.

I also had this issue starting with 4.2.2, usually got stuck around 93% to 95%. Restart and even an unpair and pair didn't fix it. I just let the battery die and it charged to 100% just fine since then.

AW3 stuck on 94% on the charger. I updated to 4.2.3 last night and left it on the charger. Went back up to 100%. Hopefully it will last longer than a week.

I was directed to this thread by Dave006.
This is exactly what I have been experiencing as well.
I have restarted several times but the issue comes back eventually.
Sorta glad it's a known issue but still problematic in that as another poster said, it's not really a problem in that I usually never get that low on the battery, but this SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!

I also have this problem. Series 3. It’s good for a few days. Woke up this morning and pulled it off the charger after an overnight charge and it had 94%.

I chalked it up to the fact that I’m using an Anker 6 port charger. Trying to charge it overnight using the Apple charging cube and I’ll report back.

Since my last time I reported my charge status Sunday morning of 100% charge overnight, I woke to 93% both Monday and tuesday mornings followed by 100% yesterday morning as well as this morning. I haven’t bothered rebooting the watch or anything, so it’s completely random when it does it.

Are you using the original apple charge cube? Like I said - I've noticed I get this charge issue when I plug the original cable into my Anker Powerport multi port charger.. but if I use the iPad charger with the original cable, I always wake up to 100%. Just something I've observed, but cant be sure 100% that its my Anker's fault. I've got the S3, and never had a problem with the Anker charging my S0.

I'm also having this problem and I am using everything Apple just as it came out of the box.

All of my charging cables and AC adapters are Apple branded products for all of my devices.

So after having this happen again twice this week, I took it in to my local Apple store and they ended up having to send it in for repair as they couldn't even get the diagnostic app they use to complete successfully on the watch.

At this juncture it's in the air if this is a hardware or software issue though as the only way to perform a full clean install of the OS is apparently to send it in.

I should get it back Wednesday and I'll respond again when I have any further information.

At least I have my Series 1 as a fallback!

Same problem here. Charged overnight but only getting 94% charge out of it.

If you reboot the watch does it then go to 100% and be fine for a couple of days before the issue returns?

It's entirely possible the OS is borked if so, as you'll see from my post above they sent mine of for a reinstall since they couldn't even get the diagnostics to run successfully on it either.

I was successful in running diagnostics with an advisor over chat and my phone turned up no issues. I’m seeing if I use the an Apple charger instead of my Anker yo charge the watch at night I don’t have this issue again... yet.
