Hopefully all of our orders don't disappear ala white iPhone 4. I won't buy another model if this happens tbh

The Watch is beginning to haunt my dreams... I had two separate dreams last night that I was charged and my Watch was on its way. Should I seek help?

as someone who ordered the SBSS Link Bracelet model at 3:03am EST on launch day, if i see someone get the standalone link bracelet before we get our watches i may have a heart attack.

Heh. Many people have echoed that sentiment, but you have to think about manufacturing logistics.

Let's say 100,000 of the bands are made, there are 85,000 watches on order that need that band. (the priority for production up to this point has been the other SS orders, as the volumes are just too huge).

Do we really think it's fair to keep 15,000 link band orders waiting, when it would't impact the availability of our watches?

(I'm presuming that Apple would look after us as a priority, of course) :)

I'm assuming it'll work as you've described here, but slapping those bands into minimal band packaging will be faster than assembling and packing entire watches, hence the earlier estimated delivery window for solo link band orders. Doesn't mean Apple is blowing off people who ordered the entire watch. Just means this band takes forever to make and they need to ship watches AND band orders ASAP.

At the end of the day, that band still cost nearly 500 bucks. More than a sport watch. They will want to sell it.

Yep. I'm thinking there's a few production lines in place at a time. They switch based on the priority that Apple's given them (and parts availability). The bands will need to be complete (or at least will be complete by the end of the assembly run) for the watches in advance (otherwise you're halting/retooling a line needlessly - time is $).

Makes sense the bands ship first - they need to be ready prior to assembly.

Complete agreement with this logic. Makes sense that they might arrive a day or two sooner, maybe even a week.

SO pumped! We should start seeing SOMETHING this week I think!

Impatient...

I guess with a May 13 - 27 delivery date for my SS with Link Bracelet, I shouldn't be getting impatient, but...
Was going to order it with the Sports Band, but changed my mind - wish I hadn't as people are getting those. I haven't found any evidence on any thread that any SS + Link Bracelet watches have been shipped yet.

You, Sir, would be correct. None of the watches with or stand alone link bands have shipped yet.

Rather be posting on Apple Forum !!

Don't you guys think that we should have been posting all our concerns on Apple website/forum .. I mean we are gaining no traction on this topic from either macrumors folks nor from Apple !!

There is no concern to be had just yet. Our delivery window for our watches is May 13th - 27th. If that time passes without delivery, then I'll start to elevate to the concerned status and the appropriate platforms.

Are you aware that the first batch of link bracelet watches has a May 13-May 27 delivery and the first batch of separate link bracelet band orders has a April 29-May 12 delivery? Today is May 4. Apple is still "on time" in this respect.

I'm very well aware of this fact and also amongst the same lot. What I believe everyone here is trying to highlight other than being patient are 2 facts
1. No one who ordered on the night of pre-order have received this model (38/42 SS LB) on the day of launch - 24 April or after. So Apple was incorrect to claim that watches available and ship on 24th April. They set the expectations incorrect to begin with for this model.
2. And then also claiming that we are expediting the shipments earlier than quoted. We are even not part of this particular claim.

All in all, yes apple is walking the talk of May13-27 for us. But has not cleared the air around this watch. They should communicate that I believe be it an assurance or any update.

Wrong. No-one that ordered this model had April 24th in front of them for availability when they ordered. It was May out of the gate.

That's what I'm saying. Apple should have highlighted this well before the pre-orders started. I don't feel cheated but dejected that I started the 100m race on the same start like others, only to realize that it's a marathon !!

But they also started saying that expected delivery dates were very pessimistic and that many orders would be shipping early. And they were right, some watches with May and even June dates ended up shipping on April 24th or VERY soon afterwards, which set up an expectation with everyone of every model that "my order might be shipping soon since many others are and Apple is saying orders will likely ship before the date given"...what they should have come out and clarified was which watches would ABSOLUTELY not be shipping early. The Stainless Steel link watches.

It was and is perfectly reasonable for customers with Link watch orders and estimated delivery windows of May 13th-27th to think theirs might ship early when they see many other watches with that delivery window shipping soon after launch. Who wouldn't think that? You've got Apple saying estimates are worst-case and that many are shipping weeks before the given dates. You've got late May and June orders shipping. You've got shipping dates on many models moving up weeks. I expected, based on those facts, that we would be getting ours early too...but that was never going to be the case apparently and I just wish Apple would have clarified that Link orders shouldn't get their hopes up, that our orders, unlike most others, have accurate ship dates.

Let me ask this way .. what are you doing reading these posts ? don't take me wrong .. but I think even you are hoping for a miracle or an update like most of us in dark !!

I had an April 24th - 28 estimated delivery date when I first made an attempt to place my order which was approximately 3am April 10 but then I decided to go check it out in the store I placed my order at 3pm that afternoon and got a June delivery date #

It's a (mostly) fun way to pass the time while waiting for the delivery date I was promised. I doubt there is anything we can do to make Apple send our watches faster for apologize for not sending them sooner (which won't make them arrive any sooner anyway).

Yes... and you may trust that if those of us who ordered just the bracelet don't have it by May 12th you'll all know about it first. :)

There's no way you had a 4/24-28 delivery date for anything because the watches that did ship on launch day were 4/24-5/8 delivery dates and none of them were ever the link.

I know because I was online when the store opened just after midnight on 4/10 and 4-6 weeks was indeed the first delivery window for the SS w/link.

The link band alone had a 2-4 week delivery date right out of the gate.

I think you can chalk this all up to the band taking 9 hours to manufacture and being HAND POLISHED.

:)

It's a gorgeous band.

This thread and the regular link bracelet thread were at the top of the forum so I thought people were getting charged, haha.

Ha. It's a race to see who is the first to check their status, see it updated with earlier dates or a shipment notification, and then update this thread with the great news.

This thread will explode when that happens.
