I don't think this is true at all. I was told during my try on that AC+ is ONLY for the watch its self. It does not cover bands at all. She was pretty specific about that.

I also ordered a SS w/ BSB and then ordered the link bracelet separately. I want both bands and wasn't sold on the link until I did my actual try on and then had to order one.

I chatted with apple today. Only the original band is covered under AC.

So have any of the first batch shipped at this point? I'm a second batch xx:10 5/13-27, so curious where the 4/29s are.

The first batch of link bracelet watches got the 5/13-5/27 delivery right off the bat. The link bracelet band, however, has the 4/29-5/12 delivery, and nobody who purchased it separately has received it yet.

Yeah. My husband had to try on the link in store. I was prepared to cancel the order for the separate bracelet if he didn't like it.

The store clerk told us that AC+ only covered the case, too.

I started a dedicated thread on this. Apparently a number of Apple store employees are misinformed, just like the "Apple Specialist" reps who informed forum members that the Sport comes with two full sets of bands.

What led me to think it was case only was the thread here on MR news about what is and is not covered under warranty.

Even Apple didn't do a good job of explicitly stating that it's covered, hence the confusion among Apple Store employees. However, the clearest indication that it's covered in included in the following fine print:

http://www.apple.com/legal/sales-support/applecare/applecareplus/docs/applecareplusnaen.html

This service contract governs the hardware service and technical support provided to you by Apple under the above-mentioned plans (each referred to herein as the “Plan”) for an Apple-branded iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple Watch or, Apple Watch Sport and the accessories contained in its original packaging

I can't see how they can exclude the band that comes with it. The watch is sold as a whole (not individual parts) to the customer and comes with a 1 year warranty, that warranty has to cover all parts of the watch (band included) from defects.

With AC+, you are extending the normal warranty from 1 year to 2 years, so in that respect the 1 year warranty on the band will become 2 years also. For accidental damage, I don't see how they could say to you that you have cover for defects with AC+, but not accidental damage on the band only, however the watch face is covered for both.

You bought them as a singular item, and they should be treated as such. Of course, just like with any warranty/accident cover, if the damaged part is easily swapped for a new one (like a battery, or the band), then they will only replace said part and not the whole thing, but the fact that they came together should mean thay are covered in identical manners.

To have one item covered and the other not is like saying the screen is covered from accidental damage, but the digital crown isn't. Just because the bands are quick release and designed to be easily swapped over it should have no bearing on whether or not the original band that came with the watch is covered by AC+.

That is not true. I work in Finance for a GM dealership.

That is specifically WHY I didn't choose GM as an example. After 20 years of dealing with GM, from a supplier standpoint. And going through their bankruptcy.....I would not hold GM up to anyone as a stellar performer and a shining example of how to run a corporation. Your opinion may differ, but I have too many business acquaintances who simply won't buy a product from GM today.

But we digress from the main topic. Which is why the world's largest corporation, from a market cap perspective, got it so wrong. Y'all can keep throwing knives at me....I'm not changing my opinion on this issue. But I do enjoy the spirited discussion! :D

And to keep on topic..........where's my 42mm SS Apple Watch with my LINK BAND?! (Can I get it early, Tim? Pretty please?)

Ok fellow sufferers/support group members...... Who's got the planes inbound report tonight?

No planes at all tonight according to FlightAware. Was hoping to see some schedules pop up by now....but nothing, nada, zilch. Dammit Apple...

Update...

Thought you guys might like to see this... It's a chat from a representative saying that some link bands have shipped out? I'm assuming they're probably just guessing but I figured I'd post... Thoughts?

Hmmmmmm......if they are shipping the Stainless Steel Link, they sure are not coming this way, I received confirmation at 2:02am CDT. I would think I would be one of the early recipients. Again, who knows whats going on and if the Apple reps even know. Im sure at this point they are getting so beat up with questions, they are just spitting out answers. Look at it this way, we are one week and 2 days out from our begging EOD date

Interestingly enough, I didn't even receive an EOD. I have two orders going, one for the Space Black Stainless Steel Watch and one for a black sports band... Neither have moved since April 10th...

Maybe it's all shipping together

I ordered the SS with link bracelet on 4/10 and have the same 5/13 - 5/27 as everyone else but at the same time also ordered 3 leather loop bands which gave me the 4/29 - 5/12 date for the bands. Haven't seen any movement on the leather bands either and assumed it would all ship together as their is no value to have bands without watch.

Why? My shipping window is 4/29-5/12 for a band. Apple had this prominently displayed on their web site at 12:03 AM PST on 4/10 when I placed Apple Watch orders.

If your shipping time is after 5/12, why would you be mad if someone with an earlier shipping time had their ship time honored by Apple, as agreed?

Why would you be upset unless Apple does NOT honor your ship time?

This baffles me.

Well... A few things:
First, Apple, in my opinion, shouldn't have given the bands an earlier ship date than the Watches to begin with. Does it honestly make sense to you that people who already have watches get extra bands and accessories before the people who don't even have Watches yet?

Now, having said that, I in no way think they should blow you (and everyone else who ordered the band separately) off and change their prioritization. That would be twice as insane as giving you the priority in the first place.

They told you they would have you a band by the 12th and I fully believe that is their responsibility. However, I think they should be working as hard as possible (which I'm sure they are) to ensure that the first batch of Watches with Links get shipped out at the same time as the Link accessories, no sooner no later.

This is all somewhat irrelevant to me since I went for Space Black, but really I just want us all to have our Watches and Bands... :)

We would know if any Link bracelets had shipped out to anyone but celebrities and reviewers. This forum houses some of the most dedicated Apple fans on the planet, many of whom got orders in within seconds after the store went up. When they ship, we'll know. Soon, I'm hoping..

Well, everyone who ordered early enough had the opportunity to make the same choices. If I'm presented with a 2-4 week ship date for a band vs a 4-6 week ship date for the whole watch, I get to choose which shipping estimate I feel is most reasonable for me.

Others did the same.

I don't mind if people get their watches early. I only mind if it affects the shipping window I deliberately chose.

Take their word with a grain of salt. Those reps also informed us that the Sport comes with two full sets of bands, that bands are not covered by AC+, and other BS.

That's very true, although now your band won't be covered under AppleCare.

Exactly. Most reps are mostly equally, sometimes more and sometimes less, informed as we are. They just get their paychecks from Apple.

Best bet is to wait for an official press release or to keep your ear to the ground for everyday people to share their actual experiences.

Yes. But, I made that call to get it earlier.

Most of the griping I see on here is highly unfounded.

Nobody has a RIGHT to faster delivery of a watch, band, cable, or whatever else they bought.

As long as Apple keep shipping within people's delivery windows, they're fulfilling their stated obligations. :)

Band is covered under the standard 1 year Limited Warranty or 2 year AppleCare+ from any defects in the craftsmanship of the band, watch and any accessories included in the box as per warranty agreement and from Mobile Genius which is an application that the Genius Bar uses for repairs.

When typing in a serial number in Mobile Genius, the watch that anyone buys does NOT actually show which band was included, instead in the Parts list it shows ALL bands available for part order for bands. When you go into the Genius Bar, as long as your Watch has warranty then the band that is included on that watch will be under warranty as well!

Watch Bands will never be in stock in the store as it'll have to be a Service (Non-Repair) Part Order and the team will contact you to let you know your part has arrived.

So as an example, let's say you buy the Apple Watch with BSB and AC+ and decide to buy a Link Bracelet in the near future. If you visit the Genius Bar because the clasp is not working on the Link Bracelet and you show them the Apple Watch with Link Bracelet, it's covered so long as you have Warranty on your Appl Watch. The same goes for if you have a spare lightning cable that is not working and bring the non working cable to the Genius Bar with your in warranty iPhone.

I've ordered a link bracelet for my watch. Status is delivers in May. Has anyone got their standalone link bracelet yet?
