Ugh.

Can we stop saying "charged" and "shipment notification" and "shipping" etc lol... My keyword pinger is going nuts.

I think you can chalk this all up to the band taking 9 hours to manufacture and being HAND POLISHED.

:)

It's a gorgeous band.

Which is why a simple email stating, "While many models and sizes of Apple Watch will be shipping earlier than their original May and June estimates, the production of the Link bracelet is a more time consuming and exhaustive process, requiring much longer lead times and therefore will not have its delivery window moved up" would have been nice when they were sending out the "email-of-death" and making statements to the press that many watches would beat their delivery estimate...just not ours.

Incidentally, I didn't wake up at 3am on the 10th, but instead waited until after my try-on appointment on the 12th, then ordered watches for me and the missus: both 38mm SS, one black Modern Buckle, one silver Link Bracelet. Both showed, and continue to show, May 14-28 "deliver by" dates, which is only one day displaced from what the first orders got. Suggests to me that when they do start shipping Link Bracelets, they expect to be able to get through a lot of them quickly.

I am in agreement that some of these (the link and the modern buckle, for example) should have been listed as "coming soon" at launch and given later dates that implied that they would not be available on launch day.

Would have given people the option to make another choice and wait until the bands appeared for sale.

Yeah I agree. Makes sense they would tackle the larger backlog of the lower priced watch combos first. Then once that seems under control build a sufficient amount of the link watches to knock out most of the preorders made prior to the 4/24 launch.

I'm hoping anyways

I just yesterday ordered my SG SS with link bracelet... got a June shipment window. Does anyone have any idea of when in June that would be?

You'll likely get a more concise update when your shipping date gets closer. The first thing that normally happens is that your CC is charged. Then your status will change to "preparing for shipment".

They could've always made another choice once they see the 4-6 week delivery before they placed the order, if they didn't want to wait that long.

People should refrain from pretending not to have been informed of the 4-6 week delivery before they placed the order. You all knew this when you placed the order.

Wrong. Not pretending here.

I did not notice the shipping time till after the confirmation email. It was 1am in the morning and I was half a asleep. All my concentration was on making sure it was the SB SS Link being ordered and that my addresss was correct. If you used Apple Pay and you had the thing favorited the transaction literally took seconds.

I don't disagree. This is why I chose another watch for my husband and ordered the link band separately.

People often ignore shipping estimates. Especially with Apple launches.

So, I think stronger language would've been nice. Not necessary, but nice.

Being too sleepy to pay attention isn't really a valid excuse. The SS Link was nearly a thousand dollars. Unless we've got a bunch of high rollers on here, I'm rather surprised that so many would ignore the shipping estimates.

It wasn't ignored. It just wasn't noticed.

Im pretty sure everyone was trying to checkout as fast as they could.

If I did notice it I don't recall because it wasn't until I saw the email that I realized the shipping time stated June.

I was trying to check out as fast as I could and I saw it.

My point is pretty much that everyone who checked out agreed to the terms. Whether or not they bothered to pay attention to them is irrelevant.

Not cool. :(

Go try one on to get a temporary fix.

You mean like instead of "Available to ship: 4 - 6 weeks. Delivers: May 13 - May 27 by Standard Shipping", something like the following:

"You awake now? It'll ship in 4-6 weeks. If you don't want to wait that long, pick another model. It'll deliver by May 13-27 by Standard Shipping. Yes, you read right. May 13-May 27. Now go cry yourself to sleep."
