Haha I figured as much seeing how this whole thing goes I'm sticking to it no BS in this post I have no way to prove it cause it's not like my dad asked the guy to take a snapshot of his delivery time for this post to get you guys to believe it, I'm not lying in all seriousness and if you choose to not believe me that's up to you guys in the long haul, I'm just stating what he told me cause he knows I have the same configuration and wanted me to know and I wanted to pass this on to you guys to bring some hope to getting ours sooner cause it is possible as I've stated with him getting his earlier than July estimated but again if you don't believe me that's fine just know I'm not pulling any crap here.

Nobody has gotten a SS w/link bracelet. Unless they are celebrities. Even the first wave of link bracelet only orders are just now shipping. I know, my husband's is due today.

I'm waiting for a U.S. Delivery. Today. It's totally exciting.

Btw? We have to sign with UPS for these link bracelets. I assume it's due to shipping method/cost.

I think it's mostly to do with cost. My sport band delivers today (no watch to wear it with lol) and does not require a signature.

I'm a CNC machinist and Product developer, and a common thing in Workflow/Shop management with parallel processing is a "Flow Shop".

In any process, you have 2 states.

- Machine Waiting on Parts
- Parts waiting on machine

When you have something thats as time intensive as the link bracelets, you have a lot of "Parts waiting on machine" type bottlenecks.

Apple hires hundreds if not thousands of industrial engineers to work out these kinks.

My theory all along has been that they started production of the link models FIRST. This allows them to process enough link bracelets to cover all the orders (demand was probably smaller due to higher selling price).

They probably discovered the faulty taptic engines in these units and had to scrap them.

What we all wanted as consumers who ordered the Link version is for them to bump all SS models that were scrapped to fulfill our orders, but I think the engineers figured it would hurt more customers who ordered the less expensive units and decided to post the 4-6 week lead time for the Links out of the gate.

The Black SS undergoes a DLC (Diamond like Carbon) finishing process, so if my theory is correct, it was a game stopper for this model.

Anyways... take it with a grain of salt. I don't work for apple (although I do work for an MFi MFG --- Braeburn Acoustics).

Cheers

Chris

If that was the case they would just scrap the watch part and put the link bands back in the production line. So what you say doesn't make sense that they would waste thousands of dollars if not millions to do this.

Awww. That's rough. That would really aggravate me. :(

This launch really has been a hoot. I reckon you can tape it to your arm for a bit. ;)

When is your watch due to ship?

Check on your order page in the grey box above the order description. It will say if a signature is required. It appears after the order has shipped.

Yep. That's how I found out it required a signature. :)

I bet you'll get charged next week. Maybe even delivery. Hang in there!

Top level of the forums shows 1072 people viewing the Apple Watch forum. Pretty much guaranteed they're all in this thread.

Wouldn't be on apples dime. Just opportunity cost

Since it has been almost a month since i ordered the watch, i'm not sure if i really want it anymore...

just kidding, of course i want it, but because i ordered the very first second possible i'm _really_ annoyed by the long time it takes.

Ever aspect of it is apples dime. If not the front end then on the back end. The factory is not going to remake them for free unless it was there fault which it wasn't if it was the tapic engine that caused it. Even if the company that made the tapic engine picked up the cost which I doubt they would pick up all the cost just a portion. Apple would mostly pick up a certain amount of man hour plus the extra cost to get them from the other manufacturer.

But no way are they going to just melt down and start from scratch it's far cheaper to just put those back in the Assembly line and go on.

My link bracelet just arrived this morning...

Am I the only one that keeps refreshing their order status page and get little butterflies in the stomach in hopes the status has changed?

I might just lose my noodle when it finally does change.

This page is going to BLOW up when we start getting order status changes. Today would be a great way to end the work week!!!
