Mine SG Sport is mid upgrade so far no issues, just letting it run...

Well mine didn't go so smooth, thought I bricked it. But after several resets and another attempt it finally loaded. The update process for the watch is anything but simple!

I just put it on its charger and started downloading it on my phone (Phone hasn't been connected to wifi or data until now either) and it seems alright, so I don't think it has been pulled.

My SS Milanese was bricked last night. Apple replaced my watch today with a brand new one. I was able to perform the update on the new one without issue. Apple turned a very bad situation into an excellent customer service example.

I thought the difference is a bricked android watch the user will do something about it. a bricked apple watch and the user praises apple for the great product?
Where were you when I was getting trolled for providing an honest opinion? It's like every apple apologist decided to follow my every move last night.

That's good for you. Mine should be here tomorrow. I had to allow them to place a hold on my credit card to get it replaced. Not thrilled about that. They said it was an exception to the rule too because I don't have AppleCare. Which is ridiculous when they update and Brick my watch.

Mine updated with no issues. Started downloading at work but our wifi is crappy, so I came home, connected to charger, let it do its thing, and took a nap (sinus headache). Woke up about 1 hour 20 minutes later, started to pick up watch, and nightstand mode came on. :)

Still checking things out, but first thing I did was replace my weather complication with Dark Sky. YES!

That's awesome. I was really looking forward to watch os 2 complications and more. I hope things get s bit smoother after I get the replacement. I'm going to restore my phone to get the proper ota final os

This is why Apple should be making nice to you.
I think so but then I got called out for being selfish / wanting special treatment ... But yah if I'm in customer service and a customer has repeated issues with two devices, I'm going to do the very best I can. While they did do the advance replacement they were really hammering on about how I don't have apple care and it was an extra special exception. It shouldn't be an exception, if they roll an update and brick my watch they shouldn't even consider making me wait two weeks an option IMO

Anyway it's all set now. I really hope the new watch arrives in perfect condition and watch os2 makes me happy :)

I thought the difference was that if you brick your Apple Watch, you can take it to the Apple store and it will be fixed. If you brick your Android Watch, you can take it to the Android store and.....oh, wait......

Did you read the T&C's before the update?

They shouldn't consider that as an option

!=

they're violating my legal rights as a consumer

Was there a point to your post aside from trolling me for having an opinion and not properly interpreting what was actually written?

Why are the users here so prone to immediately apologize for bad policy!?

brick a apple watch would would have thunk it? I mean after fixing a big bug it seems they made another one. perfect apple has a bruise.

Received the replacement. I had to reset it four times for it to finally pair and sync properly. It kept showing apps as installed in watch app with nothing on the watch.

Perhaps worse than that

The white box they sent me Digital Crown click has very long travel and works only about 25-% of the time. It sticks out a bit further than it should. I'm guessing this was a return / refurb and when they tested it they didn't think anything was wrong with it. Hopefully they won't give kencrao about it as will swap it out. For what it's worth I'm not being harsh on it. I literally have to click four or five times just to get off the watch face to the app screen. And then in with each selection.

So unfortunately my personal bs saga continues. I was having s very lucky day that turned!

at least you got a replacment. I screwed myself by taking it into a store and now have to wait 7-10 business days for it to come back.

@h00ligan I wouldn't say that that was a replacement! Any official information about this bricks? I really I am not sure about to go ahead with this version...

They fixed it as far as I know. Make sure you have 9.0.1 on your phone first. Then you should be ok. Afaik they remedied it in 9.0.1 according to support. Nwhether thst info is correct or not. Not sure.

I'm waiting to hear back in a replacement for my replacement.

Sorry about your trouble newcastle. I avoided the store swap when I hear it would not be an advance replacement.

That is crazy. I don't know where Apple gets the audacity for stating that replacing a Watch that THEY broke is an extra special exception. Sounds like a big load of bs to me.

I know US consumer laws don't offer much consumer protection (go figure) but I'm assuming that in the event that Apple would refuse repalcement that would have been like illegal right?

Mine bricked during an overnight install. I made 7 phone calls before Apple said "oh you have AppleCare+ we will just send you a new one". All the others wanted me to go to the store which I knew would be a fiasco. Interestingly in the email concerning my "repair" the Problem Description is: "System Wide issues - Alert - Recovery Mode"

Good luck to all and if you can avoid the store do it, they will ONLY send it in, no exchanges!

Paul

Yeah, i should have known better and looked into it before going to the store. I assumed they replaced them on the spot like the phones, but you know what assuming anything gets you.

I think people are overusing the term 'brick'. It's not dead. The software update didn't take. It can be recovered, it's just a matter of how. Unfortunate? Yes. Ruined? Notsomuch. Software (with the exception of deliberate overclocking, etc.) can not cause hardware to fail. They're dependent upon one another, yet completely separate.
Again, if one were to install an overclocking software on your computer, you can fry hardware by overworking it and that needs to be said, no doubt. Normal software updates / installations won't do this. Coincidentally, hardware failure can occur at any time, however.
It's good that it seems they took care of you - that, without any service / warranty agreement, is just all positive despite what you might see as negative. One thing I've learned, though, is to always ask.
