After days of barely making it through the day my watch has been at 100% for four hours. Has to be a bug!

yes, that reading likely is not correct. My guess is that if you were to shut the watch down and then start it up again, you would see the true reading, which is probably around 60%.

Is the battery issue mostly on Series 2? It sounds like the GPS is being activated in error.

Series 1 here, ios11 developer beta2 & watch os4 beta 2. my experiences have been outlined by others here, with watch os3 I could easily get 48 hours use before reaching 10% battery reserve. with os4, I'm off the charger at 6am, by midnight I'm at 45% which means that I have to charge every night... background refresh has always been off, email is on but it was also on with os3. definitely something is "running" in the background, I can't figure out what it is though...

Series 1 and getting 6 hours per charge. I’ve resorted to using airplane mode until B3 is released. At least that way activity tracking and Apple Pay still work.

Yup, re-pairing fixed the beta 2 battery issue!

(Still not as good as watchOS 3 but of course, that was expected)

Re-pairing solved my battery life for a couple days, but it's gotten pretty bad since then. I have to charge my Series 0 at least four times per day now.

I had horrible battery drain on my Series two for three days in a row. It died every day around 7pm when it used to last almost two whole days. I simply shut the watch completely off and turned it back and now my battery life is back to normal. No need to re-pair.

I hereby retract my claim. My battery just went from 100% at 6am to 25% at 2pm. I haven't tried the gym detection mod yet.

I re-paired and set up as new and the battery is actually as good as on the last beta for 3.2.3
I turned off search for gym equipment and turned off Watch faces using location in location privacy settings on my iPhone. It seemed to always be on. The hollow arrow is now gone from my iPhone and from the Control Centre on my Apple Watches. Otherwise it stays on permanently and might be the source of the power drain. As I say, both watches set up like this work fine - battery wise.

For me (and others) that worked for a day, sometimes two. And then the drain came back. I’m interested in knowing if the problem is actually with iOS 11 beta 2 and not watchOS 4 beta 2. From what I understand, watchOS makes location searches only when the iPhone does. So if that’s correct, it could be that the iPhone is making excessive use of location services and passing that down to the Watch.

I read somewhere that one person installed iOS 11 beta 2 and had watchOS 3.2.3 installed and his watch battery was worst than when he was on iOS 10.

So you are probably correct on iOS 11 beta 2 being the problem with the watch battery.

I don’t know why, but after I turned airplane mode on and off again my watch seems to be fine...
After 5 hours working outside I still got 76 %...
It’s not the best but the last days at this time doing pretty much the same my watch was shutting off...
BTW: i already switched off the gym stuff and also tried turning off the weather at my current location and switched to a permanent location...

I have series 0 (had it since launch day) and have re-paired, turned off Hey Siri, heart rate monitor, and detect gym equipment. My watch is hardly making it 3 hours - it spent most of the day yesterday on the charger. I hope beta3 comes out soon....at this point I may have to leave watch at home if I go out this weekend :(

Cheers,
B

I have a S0 as well it’s lasting me about 11 hours. Did you try taking off all 3rd party apps and repairing?

I didn't remove all 3rd party apps because I love Carrot weather but I'm willing to try that - will do that this am - thanks for the suggestion. Cheers!

I have one app installed that’s for my diabetes glucose sensor and that’s constantly connected to BT.

This morning, I removed Carrot Weather from my watch. In my 40-minute commute, my battery still went down from 100% to 88%.

None of my other third-party installed use location, as far as I know. I currently have these installed:

  • 1Password
  • BetterDay
  • Due
  • Feedbin
  • Instagram
  • MyQ LiftMaster
  • Overcast
  • Things
  • TipCalculator
  • Tweetbot
