In the watch app, General/Reset/Reset Sync Data

Nothing seems to happen, you just have to wait, from what I read.

My watch (series 2) was 2 days battery in OS3, beta 1 took it to about 30% by the end of each day, beta 2 it's going into reserve before the end of the day.

I've just done this reset, and the gym equipment thing, so let's see what happens.

Same situation here. watch was going from 100% at 8am to power reserve by 2pm. even after re-pairing and setting up as new. Did turning off the gym equipment thing help for you?

I don't really understand the battery life with BETA2. While at home on Saturday and Sunday the battery lasted all-day. It was still far worse than normal, it usually lasts two-days but still better than the 6-8 hours I got after updating to BETA2. And this was even with a three hour training session.

But today it's back to the same horrible battery life. It seems when I'm not at home the watch is doing something that completely demolishes the battery. I can't be at work for a full-day without the battery going dead. But as I said, during the weekend while being at home it lasted through a single-day, even with a workout session during the day.

Exactly! I can't figure this one out and I've done all the re-pairing stuff. When I'm home I get the same great battery life I got before the beta. It when I get to work that it starts to drain super fast

For the last two days my battery has improved, compared previously.

Here is what I did, turn off gym equipment, under location services turned off the following Apple Watch faces, home, maps, weather and wallet.

But I sure hope Apple comes out with beta 3 this week for iOS and watchOS.

I had to reset my watch because it got in some sort of boot loop... was booting... and than a few minutes later, reboot.
So I configured my watch as new. no apps installed (I don't use any so that's ok). I've left all locations services enabled except for watch faces that is now disabled. Disabled Hey Siri like I always do. Battery was bad at first... but yesterday night and today, battery is good... this morning, +3 hours later and battery is still showing 100%. and yes, It's still counting my steps and still reading my hearth beat... and all data is transferred properly to my iPhone.

I can’t believe we may have to wait until next week for a new watchOS beta. Beta 2 sucks. I have done all the above suggestions on mine over the last two weeks and I get 4 hours max battery life. Hence, unusable. I realize its a beta but its beta 2 I expect that kind of thing from beta 1. Beta’s are supposed to get better as they come out not regress.

We have hope for tomorrow, if not tomorrow then next week.

My watch crashed yesterday and today. (Rebooted on its own and not using third party apps!)

I had been hoping for a new beta today, with the public version tomorrow....

I’ve found my watch quite usable even with airplane mode enabled. My calendar is there, Apple Pay works and my activity tracking is fine.

i have found the work around! I've re-paired and turned off gym equipment long ago and was only getting about 10 hours from my series 2 watch.

I forgot my phone at home this morning, and using my watch all day for things I could to on my phone if I had it, and using WIFI on my watch, I came home 10 hours later with 67% battery REMAINING on my watch. Before today I was getting about 10 hours before power reserve.

I think iOS 11 is to blame. I haven't had battery life like this since installing watchos 4. Im leaving Bluetooth on my phone OFF till beta 3 comes out.

I also noticed that turning Bluetooth OFF in the shortcut screen didn't actually disconnect my watch from my phone. I had to go to settings>Bluetooth and turn it off there to actually disconnect my watch from my phone. Anyone else have that problem?

Glad to hear it! I too came to the conclusion last week that the problem is with iOS 11 Beta 2 and not WatchOS 4 Beta 2. Too much usage of location services on the iPhone is what I believe to be the root of the problem.

Hopefully Beta 3 surfaces tomorrow so people can use their Watch as it was intended.

Maybe it’s not bug but a feature . Now the WiFi and the Bluetooth also can’t turn off in control center, and when you switch it, you’ll be noticed “disconnected from (network/BT device). Yeah, Apple is a shyness girl, she never talk about herself proactively.

Battery life on my Series 0 has taken a HUGE hit since updating to Beta 2. (Not complaining; I know Beta Life is about living dangerously.) In my 40 minute commute to work, my battery plunged from 99% to 83%

Any of you guys figure out if it's a specific app or function that's killing it? I'm trying to uninstall any unimportant third-party apps to see if that's the culprit.

During my commutes, I use Apple Maps (iOS 11) on my phone but have turn-by-turn notifications disabled on the watch. I also had Overcast running in the foreground.

I found a Post where a new feature setting on the WATCHOS 4 was draining the battery. It is located under Workout on the Phone App and it is called Detect Gym Equipment. I have turned this off on my watch and now I am testing to see if that fixes the issue.

It probably won't change anything... I have this setting disabled since day one.
it was fine for me for a few hours... and it started draining the battery like crazy after a 30 minutes walk using the exercise app on the watch.

There's definitively something with the bluetooth connection or location services that is keeping the watch awake and draining the battery.

So after turning off location services for Watch faces, home, weather, wallet my battery was good for a few days.

And I decided to turn on location services for Watch faces, home, weather, wallet since yesterday and guess what, my battery is at 80% for 8 hours of use...

Maybe turning off and on location services resets the watch?

Very strange....

I did this also... and less than a day later, it started draining again... those options on or off, it didn't matter... drains like crazy.

CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY !!! Since the day, I switched my watch into airplane mode, and went to settings on watch, I noticed the Bluetooth can be open even airplane mode, AND terrible things happened. I can’t disconnect my watch from phone even reboot them both. Till today airplane mode is never worked on my watch. Please seeds the beta 3 ASAP.

Update to my previous post:

I unpaired and paired the watch again. I turned off multiple items like i said in my last post and the watch survived my whole day. I put the watch to charge at night and next day in the morning, 2 hours into use the battery is at 65%. So, unparing and pairing again is a momentary fix but the issue is certain to resurface

My watch has gotten excellent battery life for about five days now, even with Location Services active. I have no idea what changed. My settings are still what they were last week when it was draining like crazy without airplane mode being turned on.

I’m wondering if it was something on Apple’s side with location services. As I’ve turned on all location services for my watch and my battery is great for the last few days!

I did the re-pair and turn off gym equip and loc services thing. It worked for about 2 days and things got bad again.

This battery problem is so bad that Apple should issue a beta update as soon as it’s available even if it is 2am Saturday night. I hope they don’t wait until Tuesday.

I really miss my watch in the evenings. If anything, I’ve come to realize how much I depend on it.

Wouldn’t you figure, Apple replied to my bug report about battery draining and wants more info, logs... unfortunately my battery draining issue has stopped and I’m getting 15 hours 40 minutes standby and 4 hours and 45 minutes usage and 41% battery left. :)

your so lucky, let’s send some log to Apple

I have had up and down battery results with my s0, I have turned off all the suggested locations services i.e. Apple Watch faces, maps, home, weather etc. and unpaired and set up as new watch. Howeverrrrrr...I just went into the music settings on the watch app and noticed it was updating my songs. Thinking I just had the music I selected on my watch I was curious as to why that was happening. Then I noticed the Automatically add section.
I have 3 on there:
  • Heavy Rotation (Playlists and albums you're listening to)
  • My New Music Mix (Updated every Friday)
  • My Favorites Mix (Updated every Wednesday)
I can only imagine transferring music over bluetooth to your watch can cause battery drain and seeing people and myself included having inconsistent results for battery drain (Some days better than others) this automatic updating of music you're listening to could cause our inconsistencies. Im sure this only happens if you have Apple Music, so I would be interested to hear you're guys results. I am turning this off in addition to the current location services I have turned off. Something to try at least! Wish I would have recognized this earlier with the release of beta 3 most likely coming next week. Ohhhh the life of wanting all the new software! Helps squash bugs though I suppose! Good luck out there fellas!
