I updated my XS Max to 12.1 before my watchDon't know if it has anything to do with it, but I updated from my iPhone X before I updated the phone's OS.

Apple typically sets aside some store stock to use for in-person replacements, it wouldn't hurt to call them to see.Just got off the phone with a so-called "senior advisor" Totally clueless. I told her I am not the only person that this is happening to. She kept acting like she knew more than anyone else. She had me to power it off, didn't work. She had me restart my phone, didn't help. She had me unpair my watch from my phone, didn't help. She then suggested I take it to an Apple Store. She could get me an emergency appointment on Friday...lol. I checked IstockNow and none of the local stores have anything in stock. I was going to buy a new one and use that while mine is being repaired. I know they do not have replacements in the store, it has to be sent out.
+1, thanks Apple. I just received my Series 4 Watch yesterday and bricked it today with WatchOS 5.1...
Cheapskate aluminium here but bricked for more than 2 hours now. What is the common factor? Where is everyone having this problem? Maybe it’s Regional?
Just seen it’s Europe and USA.
Same here. S4 Aluminum, 10 minutes new straight out of the box.
I’ll walk into the local Apple store. If it’s not a straight swap for a brand new unit, I’m done with Apple. I’ve already had to replace my iPhone XS twice.
Just emailed Macrumors asking them to publish+1, I don't know how we're at 3 pages and they haven't pulled the update. WTF...
Bricked SSSB Apple Watch S4.
How has Macrumors not flagged this as well? Hey @Doctor Q ... I think we're hitting critical mass to at the very least post a flag on the front page to hold off on updating the Apple Watch.
Series 3 SS here. No problems with new update install.Glad I read this.. maybe I will hold off.. although I already downloaded the update for my S3 and it's just waiting for me to install it.
Just accept that your watch is fubar and arrange a replacement.Just noticed something really worrying. My bricked watch has been on the puck for three hours now. Normally it would be a little warm from charging but it is absolutely cold.
Can anyone else confirm this?
I asked Apple support about damage to the screen with the logo burining in for hours and they said it wouldn't harm the screen at all. Not sure i believe that rubbishMine is bricked too. Series 4 aluminum. Now it’s going to have a bright Apple logo burning in the OLED screen. No way to turn it off till the battery dies. Apple screwed up and I won’t be happy unless they give me a new one in exchange.

Cool. Thanks. That worked!Hold down the buttons for a hard reset, when you see the Apple logo, keep holding. After the logo disappears again, let go. That leaves it "off" it seems.
