This is the reason Apple adds features.... As long as their are options available.

Give me a larger watch face (actual screen dimension) of perhaps 45-50nm, which in turn would allow the battery to be larger within the device...

Make the friggen heart rate monitor more accurate.

Biggest gripes about my Apple Watch Series 3 WC.

In the same space ? You'd have to start making everything smaller . unless u want a giant watch on your wrist. for extra room later on, (and that will be needed when users want more things to be shown on screen)

Its always better to have it "all there" than a toggle "instead of." That's what we are learning.

I'm using a complication with the workout app. This complication shows *all* of the possible workouts and I have to scroll through them to find what I want to start. I'd like to have the complication show only specific workouts so it is easier to select the applicable workout. Possibly by allowing deletion of the display each individual workout?

The AppleWatch needs customizable vibration patterns. I want to be able to know what message arrived to decide if I have a look right now or not.
Without it the watch increases my distractions instead on helping to focus.

It would be even better if not only a per-App basis but for iMessage also a per-User vibration pattern.

And while we are at it: make it stronger!!! Even only the higher setting I keep missing calls because vibration is to light.

The Worldwide Developers Conference is just about a week and a half away, and while we've heard some rumors on what we might see in iOS 12 and macOS 10.14, watchOS 5, the next-generation software update for the Apple Watch, remains a total mystery.

With no idea what to expect, we asked MacRumors readers what new features and tweaks they would most like to see in the watchOS 5 update.

watchos5-800x395.jpg

[*]Live step count complication - MacRumors reader Breezygirl would like to see Apple add a live step complication that lets you see how many steps you've completed at a glance, rather than just a complication that lets you know how close you've come to hitting your activity ring goal.
[*]Third-party watch faces - Third-party watch faces are highly desired by most Apple Watch owners on the forums, but so far, Apple has kept the Apple Watch locked down to control the design and interface of the device. As MacRumors reader Relentless Power suggests, a watch face store that includes a variety of watch faces from third-party developers and companies would be great.
[*]Activity app improvements - Right now, the Activity app requires you to hit your goals each and every day to keep a streak going, which can be difficult at times and allows for no rest. MacRumors reader SoYoung would like to be able to set rest days.
[*]Workout app improvements - In the same vein, MacRumors reader Rbart is hoping for a better workout app for running that's closer in design to Strava with additional statistics, a complete history, best performances, and more. Honglong1976, meanwhile, would like to see automatic activity detection to alleviate the need to start a workout.
[*]Podcasts for Apple Watch - Multiple MacRumors readers would like to see a dedicated Podcasts app on the Apple Watch for listening to podcasts on the wrist-worn device.
[*]Off-wrist Notifications indicator - MacRumors reader Lennyvalentin would like to see the Apple Watch better able to keep track of incoming notifications even when off the wrist, with those notifications still showing up but with an indication to note that they were received while the Apple Watch was idle.
[*]Proximity notifications - There's no way to set the Apple Watch to ping when it goes out of range of the iPhone, a feature MacRumors reader Justiny would like to see as a way to keep track of the iPhone and get a reminder if it's left behind.
[*]Sleep tracking - This one is probably a long shot given that Apple suggests people charge their Apple Watches at night, but MacRumors readers would like to see native sleep tracking capabilities.
[*]Always-on display - Given battery constraints, Apple has never implemented an always-on display for the Apple Watch, which is another highly desired feature. The Apple Watch display comes on when the wrist is raised, but it would be nice to have always-on access to the time as is possible with a traditional watch.
[*]Better health analysis and suggestions - MacRumors reader Bluecoast would like to see Apple better take advantage of the health information it collects with the watch to add recommendations and coaching for those who are aiming to meet health goals, as well as deeper analysis.

Is there something you're hoping to see in watchOS 5 that didn't make it on our list? Make sure to let us know in the comments.

All I want is a smaller bezel/larger screen to body ratio, better battery life and an always on display. If I get that I'll be first in line.

faster way to delete all my messages

I can't THUMBS UP this post enough! I REALLY hope the Messages in the Cloud will also work with Apple Watch, so it helps with the deleting on the watch, although it's sounding like it may not?

Wow- this list is missing the biggest failure: no WiFi access. If you have WiFi at home you can get iMessages and take calls from your iPhone to your iPad but if your watch is not in the same room, forget it. I hate the fact the I watch can’t get notifications or calls or imessages on my watch if my phone was left in the other room and it can’t take advantage of WiFi.
What? This feature has existed for a long time. Since the very beginning of the Apple Watch I'm pretty sure (I only got one at Series 2 so at least since then).

Something is wrong with your watch if it isn't jumping on wifi. When you're at home, it is supposed to use wifi to extend its range so you can leave your phone on your desk and just use the watch. I do this every day. It's also nice if you want to go to the gym or something without your phone. Watch hops on wifi at the gym so you can get iMessages even though you left the phone at home.

SPOTIFY CONTROL PLEASE!!
Isn't that just spotify's own fault? What's stopping them from making a watch app?

The activity rings are great but they're a bit of a joke. When I get a notification that I've completed my stand goal while sitting at a desk for a couple of hours, I'm pretty sure they're not accurate.

I do get a bit of a rush trying to complete my rings just before midnight...

I'd love to be able to dim the screen at night. I don't believe there's an ambient light sensor in the Apple Watch to adjust automatically, but if the paired iPhone is set to Night Shift, having the option to dim (and/or Night Shift) the Apple Watch on the same schedule would be great.

My wife would love the live step count complication, and if it's too much to count step by step it could count by 100's in the small space of a corner complication, such as 100, 200...900, 1K, 1.1K, etc.

Like Krayzkat I'd like to see higher frequency heart rate monitoring, and I've been there, wanting that, during both cycling and Insanity workouts, so an option for always on display would be great.

Like Dimka an option to show date above the hands ALWAYS would be great, since I only seem to check the date at quarter after.

DerHexer's customizable and stronger vibration patterns would be fabulous.

Finally, I'd like a sleep ring, hour or percentage count in the middle of the existing 3 activity rings (maybe in purple), since rest is every bit as important as movement...and yes, better battery life and a native elegant Apple sleep tracker. Even if it requires new hardware (AW4).

There is really no reason for things to go via the phone when you have a watch with LTE connectivity..

When connected to the phone you should be able to do just as much as doing it on the watch on LTE. (with the exception of storage) unless you had iCloud as well link to the watch *possible*

My biggest problem with leaving Fitbit was not easily seeing my step count. So many people ask for it why can’t it be done when it’s one of the most asked for features (for people that use it for a health tool)?

As we age we get Farsighted (can't see things clearly close by). My big wish is better display options so I don't always need to reach for my glasses!

To add to this when I don't have my glasses ;-} Getting Siri from my watch to read my messages and other written info when asked. As an example announcing the caller 'Hey Siri who's calling'

Support for multiple timers: 'Hey Siri, set a timer for 30 min for my potatoes'; then 'Hey Siri, set a timer for 10 min for my steak' When the timer goes off Siri announces the timer name 'Time for the Steak'

I would also like to see some preconceived timers for tasks. As an example boiling an egg! 'Hey Siri, The water is boiling set a timer for a hard boiled egg' Or 'Hey Siri, I want to boil an egg' Then Siri goes through the steps and asks what kind of egg as well as what to do afterwards to chill it! Basically an interactive cook book here but it could be much more! Pill management timer! So you don't forget and a visual clue on what the pill looks like. This becomes very useful will people on many medications.

These timers ideally would be managed from within a iPhone or iPad app

For special kids/adult: Timing washing their hands and brushing teeth. I know this sounds odd for most of us. I take care of a mentally challenged person who would benefit from this.

How about an iPad Watch app so you can use it instead of ones iPhone. Biasing one platform over the other in the iOS family I think is dumb! Some people would prefer to use an iPad mini or even a standard iPad.
