My battery drain during standby (no workout being tracked, no timers running, no audio being controlled, etc.) has never been as good as on 10.1.

I feel like battery life improved at least 20%.

*Using a S8 with an active eSIM connection.

Have they fixed the background glow on watch OS 10? The slight glow you can see in the dark when on Home Screen and swiping down or swiping up

It’s been on my watch since watch OS 9 and I’m tired of it.

This is a UI decision, they have the same thing on tvOS backgrounds. Its a transperancy effect that diffuses the light from app icons. Horrible.

First I’ve heard of it. I can’t seem to drain the battery on my S9. Still glad it’s getting fixed for the people having it.

There has never been an "indexing" claim on the watch.
Read the posts here and on other sites like Reddit. Many people have oft claimed that poor battery life is normal when doing an upgrade, because the watch needs time to index and do other background tasks. And after a day or so, things will be fine. And yes, sometimes that's the case, but it clearly wasn't here.

Apple has made no official claims, if that's what you were getting at. But it's not hard at all to find people making claims on this site and others.

My 6 is sluggish to respond to crown and button pushes. Battery may be draining faster but not the 50% in short order noted above.

I've seen that referenced over and over in regards to the phone, but not the watch.

Either way, as you said, Apple has said nothing of the sort. It's all hearsay from people who don't know what they are talking about.

I have a watch 4 and now a new 8.
I am not updating the 4 to WatchOS10.anything. I use it for sleep tracking and rough activities.

my ultra was barely hold a full charge for just a day , i decided 2 days ago to unpair et re pair my ultra with the 15 PM , and problem solved, so it's something on the last update that went wrong while installing... cos now i'm back with more than 2 days of battery life .

Then you're not looking hard enough. There are Watch-centric forums and subreddits where this claim is brought up all the time. And like I said, it does sometimes have merit. But it's pretty evident that there was something with 10.1 causing poor battery life, and Apple getting an update ready to fix the issue confirms that.

Correct. Everyone and their mother is a qualified expert on everything when posting on the Internet. Which is why you approach updates on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes it really is just some background activity. Other times there is an issue. Which is why binary dismissal or acceptance of claimed issues should be avoided.

Finally! Well hopefully at least… My series 7 battery has turned to crap since I updated it to 10. Was hoping 10.1 would help, but it really hasn’t. It is a bit better, but nowhere near what is what with 9.x.

Huh, I did notice that I had to go from charging my Apple Watch Ultra 2 every three days to more like every two and a half days.

I'm glad to hear this was acknowledged. My Series 8 has been fine to-date until watchOS 10.1. Normally I'd wake up in the morning to 85% battery, but now it's like 70%. I'd charge during my morning shower, but by 4:00 PM I'm in the 40%s.

I've had to charge throughout the day which is really annoying. The odd thing is the watch doesn't feel warm. I can't figure out what it's doing it just dies.
