I always figured it was only O, S, Ten, if you spoke Roman. You can call it whatever you want. Every employee I've ever talked to at my local Apple Store has pronounced it "O.S.Ex."

Indeed, the full name and version of Windows 7 is Windows NT 6.1, incidentally this is also the version number for Windows Server 2008 R2.
Of course microsoft markets these as "Windows 7" and "Windows Server 2008 R2". They're the same thing (Windows NT 6.1), just with different feature sets. Just as "OS X Mountain Lion" and "OS X Server Mountain Lion" are the same thing (Mac OS X 10.8), just with different feature sets.
One could argue that apps that break if that string changes are themselves broken and need to be fixed.
They are doing it wrong. If you listen to Apple executives and Apple ads, it's always Oh Es Ten.
Of course, I usually call it Oh Es Ex myself, and so has most of Apple's customers.
I'm looking forward to OS 11, where this can finally be put behind us.
What about the lynx?
In that case, would you mind enlightening us?
This can only mean: Aqua is dead.
Unless they call it OS XI.
...and I've seen a video posted here that's a compilation of Jobs accidentally saying "Oh Es Ex" on various occasions.![]()
I think the idea is that you're about to get hit with a giant wave of awesome. On a related note, anyone notice that MacPro pattern behind the "7" on the other banner?
So, first the "cloud" and now the "wave" ?

Well, the more I think about it this is probably a banner for Logic Pro X. I remember a rumor last year leading to an unofficial Apple response saying they were hard at work on the next version of Logic Pro.
However, I already made my mockup for OS X. So, here tis.
