I am on a 6+ 64gb. Up until I have been upgrading annually. I skipped 6S+ because 3D Touch and performance upgrades alone did not convince me. If iPhone 7+ is more of the same, especially if it still has the ridiculous bezels which at this point are plain EMBARRASSING, I might skip that as well.

Apple, you bought Beats, at least implement their phone speakers (I used to have a HTC phone with Beats Audio speakers and audio quality mopped the floor with every other handset out there, including current major flahships of today). DO SOMETHING exciting.

All Apple had to do it is put in a 6000 mAh battery make it slightly thicker and change nothing else. Apple would have it's highest selling iPhone.

Everybody's waiting for that radically-redesigned, all-glass, wrap-around, OLED, iPhone8...... magical really..... :D

Still more problems to go wrong. Rather than only hit the glass on its face, it can now be destroyed on the corners at well..

Hasn't even launched yet, and were already hearing this.
What will be really funny is the number of returns when average Joe iPhone user realizes there's no headphone jack.

Everybody here keeps saying good good, get rid of it. Average Joe consumer doesn't like unpleasant surprises. Average Joe iPhone user wants to pay $5 for headphones at the gas station because the $&@#*% apple ones just broke again. Average Joe iPhone user gets mad at being milked again and decides he doesn't like Apple anymore.

You think I'm kidding but more and more the average user opinion is changing. Ive had at least a dozen people in the past few months to me express some variation of "I'm tired of having to keep giving them money..."

I really do think the 7 is going to be the tipping point for the iPhone and apple under Tim cook's leadership. No amount of press and posturing is going to save him from a massively underwhelming, anti-user-friendly product refresh. I expect the backlash to be swift.

It's entirely possible we'll all be surprised with something incredible, and in no way do I expect them to get up there and say nothing other than that they removed the headphone jack, but if it really sucks as bad as everyone here on Macrumors is predicting then I think it would be amazing if people boo'd at the presentation. Like if they announce how it's essentially the same beautiful iPhone 6S but now in a gorgeous new shade of gray and they pause for applause only to receive a period of silence broken only by a loud "BOO." That would be epic.

Not as epic as getting a bezel-free, waterproof, bendable iPhone with a wraparound 4k display, integrated finger print reader, new VR features, haptic feedback, 4gb of ram, and access to the file system, but epic nonetheless.

part of me wants to upgrade in September, but another part of me says I should hold on to my 6 Plus til 2017.
Upgrade this year AND upgrade in 2017! iPhones that are only one model old retain a lot of their value, especially if you sell private party like through Swappa.com.

alot of this wait for 2017

well the headphone jack will still be gone then so really those who are angry about it you will still upgrade in 2017?

No, consumers have just become unreasonable in expecting something new every year. Can't a product just be great as-is without having to out-do the competition at every release?

If Tim Cook thinks like this, I'm sure they will go doom someday.

Ditto. I was like meh....s7.... Yeah cool but I got an iPhone 6s.... Than I saw the batman edition, read the iPhone 7 rumours and the inner geek took over. Love my batman.....and all black !!!!

Very true. Though was there anything unexpected in the 6S? I thought the rumours covered everything.

You're going to love the Samsung My Little Pony Phone!

I'm still using my iPhone 5 and not planning to switch until a major redesign. Hearing you guys say upgrading from a 6 to a 7 is a long time makes me laugh out loud.

I'm an iPhone 5 holdout too. I figure that iOS 10 may be the last software update, so I will be using it until the bitter end of iOS support!

3 months ago those "analysts" were saying the opposite... Oh my they are useless.

No they weren't. As a matter of fact, last year Tim Cook said that he expected iPhone 6+ sales to be strong and they weren't. Then gave some convoluted BS line about why they weren't strong. Granted this was the first quarter ever that the iPhone sales dipped like that but they are in for another one.

I'm another one here as well :) with the only truly black iPhone
(I still think it looks great even with the edges a little scuffed). I figure I'll keep putting new batteries in it till we see a redesigned 4" phone. And if anybody claims a 4.7" can be the same size, no, the width is the dealbreaker.

Because they sold a crazy amount of the new bigger phones when the plus arrived and it's damn hard to keep to that pace. They still sold ALOT.

Ha, I'm still on my original Verizon iPhone 4 (dang kids swiping all my upgrades) I was hoping to upgrade to 5se but really wanted storage to match the other new phones (128). I prefer the smaller screen and since its doubtful there will be an update for that this September I guess I'll be waiting some more.

Is one off year for Apple really the end of the world? They never promised anything earth shattering in regards to hardware; all the major visible changes will be strictly in the software which thankfully doesn't require buying the iPhone 7 to enjoy. Let's at least wait until next year before proclaiming Apple's doom. Right now there's very little incentive for anyone who's bought a new phone within the past couple of years to upgrade to a new one as of now. Hardware doesn't age as rapidly as it did in the earlier days of the smartphone era.

So what are we calling it? iPhone 6SE or iPhone 6S Pro?

iPhone 6SA
A for Again

I mean, the product is mature and there's only so many ways to redesign a piece of glass on top of a metal backing. I'd expect longer design life cycles going forward more in line with Macs and iPads. 3-4 years instead of every 2.

I'd expect 3 years life cycles starting this year.
They can put minor changes such as the colour and the antenna lines, but they can't reinvent iPhone every other year after almost 10 years.

No wonder. For every sane person it was clear right from the beginning that the combination of the HD screen (internally: even more memory hungry, tree-times upscaling) and 1GB RAM will result in, compared to even the iPhone 6, pretty problematic (crashes, Safari tab unloads etc.) device. This is why for example I didn't bother with the 6+ and waited for (and purchased) the 6s+.

Maybe try with the Lightning port first. Please remove this type of cable and move on with USB type C. More and more smartphones and tablets embrace this connector. Which is a bit irony since Apple use it first on their Macbook. Why leave iPhone and iOS lagging with no-else-use-it-but-Apple connector?

I don't get how people can really gauge demand of a product that hasn't been released.

The iPhone SE came out in march and it took me 2 months to be able to get one cause demand was higher than expected.

This year's iPhone refresh might be the most disappointing one ever.

Tim Cook will slowly drive the company into the ground. Hopefully Apple's board will soon see that and fire him.

He's like Steve Ballmer, just with a lazy personality. Tim's that guy that gets on the stage for 30 seconds and then hurries up and hands the spotlight to someone else because he can't handle it.

So pleased with my SE..

Looks like it's going to remain the best iPhone available, and continue to be so for another year.

Please explain to me how the SE is the best iPhone available.

Are you talking about that minuscule 1146 x 640 screen? or do you mean that 1.2 megapixel Facetime Camera?
[doublepost=1467255133][/doublepost]
Nah, not gonna happen like that. He's going to be around for a while.

I'll give it three years or less before he's shown the door. iPhone sales are declining. iPhone sales make up more than half of Apple's profits. Tim Cook isn't capable of introducing a new product that appeals to the end user. The company will slowly lose revenue every quarter, and probably for a while after Tim Cook finally gets fired.

Is that why Apple is the most valuable company in the world and why they had 10 straight record breaking quarters...because Tim is incompetent(sic)?

A 256 gb note 7 with microsd card support, water proof, actual headphone jack, the best camera, and 6 GB is a true upgrade...hope iPhone fans switch over especially if you want virtual reality, pen support, and a true file manager.

Are you like 13 years old or something?

You do realize the iPhone, iPad, and Mac were Steve Jobs innovations?

It's not hard to understand why Tim Cook looked good for a while after he took over for one of the greatest inventors ever. It's almost like a new GM with little talent, looking good after he acquires an NBA team full of all-stars and goes on to win three championships in three years.

Eventually the old GM's team will get old, players will have contracts expire, and eventually the talent of the new GM will begin to show... The same is happening with Tim Cook.
