Anyone who implements that on an actual public website should be shot.

Uh oh. Reminds me of Danish Cartoons controversy. Thankfully we are not *yet* there where Apple and co. can dictate what we can and cannot deploy on our own websites.

Anyway relax - it was meant to be funny. Steve never expressed any "Thoughts on Fun" - so for now it's all good :p

Never heard of hyperbole? Heh, you use it often enough yourself.

Anyone who implements that on an actual public website should be shot. That's such a douche tactic that it will drive away any possible visitors from an iPad, instead of convincing them that maybe there's an actual need for Flash. It's the worst possible tactic I can think of. Especially with a horribly designed fake image of Steve.

jW

Why so uptight? :( It was only written in jest (hence the :D).

One of the needs of *yours*, which means that you think that *your* needs are what Apple needs to meet. Not everyone has *your* needs. If Apple doesn't meet *your* needs, go elsewhere and stop complaining here.

I have no need for Flash, I'm happy with Apple - that's why *I'm* here. Why would someone who isn't happy with Apple come here and complain about something (over and over and over and over again) they will never provide?

"Insanity is when you keep doing the same things expecting different results."

Your extremely wise post is applicable to a lot of people here. They are called TROLLS. they are here NOT for the sake of discussion, but only to blame Apple on everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, just to provoke a reaction in Apple users of the forum. I you make a little search, you are going to find SAME PEOPLE complaining about iMac, iPhone, iPad, macbook and basically about everything Apple does.

Oh so the discussion you refer to must only be based on agreement and not dissidence? Any one who disagrees is a troll? And the relentless "Apple is right no matter what" posters are no TROLLS that are not here for discussion but to support Apple on everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, just to provoke a reaction in Apple users of the forum.

Different standards huh?

you completely missed the point.
There are people here ONLY TO BASH APPLE, and they are well known.
You can support Apple on some product and criticize Apple about other products that you don't like. I'm not happy about Time Capsule (mine died after 23 months) or the infamous "spinning beachball" after hdd upgrade on MBPs (solved with hdapm and not by Apple).
Apple definitely is not always right, but if you are here only to provoke a reaction in Apple users of the forum, well, the right definition is exactly "trolling".
Don't you agree ?

And don't you agree that some people might be pissed off about the way Apple is handling the Flash situation while they might be perfectly happy about their other Apple products ?

Talking about choices...

If I want this car but It has automatic gears, I don't like it, but I like the car should I buy it or buy some other car that has manual gear? Or should I go complain to the car's company?

I also like go with my Ferrari at 300 Km/h but the law doesn't allow me to do that, should the govern makes some road for fast cars?

Shouldn't web developers give me the choice of view the web in HTML5 if I'd like so?

I am for choices but sometimes choices comes with compromise.

Edit: a good one just came to mind(for those who don't realise the meaning of my examples):

I like MacForum but is full of fanboys should I keep reading it and posting or leave?

I find it interesting that people completely ignore the possible damage caused by the way Apple banned Flash.

As a platform matures, some products will no longer target the end users but developers instead. This is the case with Unity. I believe Unity started out as a game developer but as time progressed, they realized that they were better at making 3D engines than actual games so they switched focus to selling their 3D engine to developers instead of selling games to users.

This turned out to be a good choice; some excellent and bestselling games have been made using Unity and SJ has even demoed a few in his keynotes.

With the changes in the SDK agreement, Unity might have to abandon the iPhone platform. I think it probable that they will be forced to do that along with other companies making tools for developers. Needless to say, the policy change will also discourage others to enter the market.

It is as if Apple feels that they're doing developers a favor by letting them develop for their platform. This isn't true. It's a mutually beneficial relationship.

IMHO, the risk that the iPhone platform will stagnate over time because of this attitude is not insignificant. I think that is a shame.

So wait, the phone being satisfactory to people means they find it perfect ? Seriously, look up "satisfaction" and "perfect" in a dictionary. I'm satisfied with my Harley, yet I keep pouring cash into it for mods. Figure that one out.

Seriously people, you can like something but want it to be better and criticize the company when they put up roadblocks that are artificial. There's no hate in that, it's simply good old fashion critical thinking. Black and white makes for some good cowboy movies, grow up.

It is? Why do you think that?

Developer have to renew themself every now and again in learning new stuff and most developers new more than one programming language, this always have happend.

New platform, new language(or new stuff to learn), people aren't going to stop developing just because they can't use Flash.

Is the same for console, developers move to the new platform and leave the old one and investors goes where the money are.

Why did you quote Macsmurf if you weren't going to answer his question ?

Where did the poster say anything about people finding the phone perfect? You are the one who asked a loaded question using the term "perfectly happy", and someone responded with a single link. People very seldom find anything they buy "perfect", so you're asking a lot of any item you purchase if that's your lofty standard. Sounds like you have a serious case of projection going on.

Seriously people, you can have issues with one or more of your Apple products, but when someone responds to your criticism with basic information about how they consistently lead the tech industry in consumer satisfaction, try to accept that news for what it means. No matter how much you might dislike some aspect of your Apple device(s), the simple fact is that the majority of people don't share your feelings. If lack of Flash/AT&T exclusivity/App Store regulation/etc. was such a deal-breaker for the iPhone, then you would never see customer satisfaction ratings higher than all other smartphones. Maybe you are the one who needs to grow up.

Keep saying you don't hate Apple doesn't change facts: you are ranting all over the forum doing exactly that.
Your last definition of Steve Jobs (a man with an ego trip problem) is clear enough ...

BTW you don't have to love Apple: this is a free world. Just stop deny it.

So far, I am disagreeing and criticizing Apple about their policies with the iPhone App Store and their Dev program licensing. I don't see how 1 aspect of Apple that I don't like means that "I'm ranting all over".

You're going on my ignore list soon, because frankly, you're even more 1 sided that *LTD* is.

I don't really think so, AppStore is a money printing machine and will always attract developers...
