I spoke to an Apple Technician and he said the "week" stuff does not make a difference in if it is fixed. He said ALL of the iPhones have the "loading" issue but the variance in noise, aka being able to hear it or not, differs from phone to phone. So those who have no hissing, that is awesome but according to engineering, your phone has the issue as well just not audible to you now.

I'm curious - has anyone ever found a solid, verifiable correlation between iPhone hardware issues and manufacturing weeks?

On a sample of 20 Jet Black Plus iPhones (12 of which were display models in four different stores) I have found the odds of seeing the machining scars are high on week 39 and earlier and almost zero on week 40 and later. Obviously this isn't verifiable and twenty is an infinitesimally small sample, but personally I'm of the opinion the recent ones are better from this perspective at least.

I got the last sprint 256gb JB 7+ at the store yesterday and I checked, its week 40 and no hissing as of YET.

So hopefully I didn't get one of the duds.

Haven't had a iPhone since the 6 Plus, been on Android, moving from a 6P to the 7 Plus. I got a Week 40 model , Verizon 128 GB 7 Plus and hear absolutely no hissing sound at all from the back of the device/all over while recording a 4K video in a very quiet room/area. I am quite familiar w/the sound of coil whine, etc in electronics, but I don't hear nada from my 7 Plus's body with my ear hunting all over the phone for some sound in a very quiet room. I did have to return my 1st 7 Plus due to dead pixel/dust under the display and I didn't test that one but this current one I have makes no sounds.

I tested my 6P with the 7 Plus in very quiet condition(both recording in 4K) and they both give off actually a similar white noise audio in very quiet conditions but the 6P actually had some weird like line interference actually coming in which I actually never heard until I tested vs the 7 Plus, the 7 Plus sounded better when it is quiet(The mic pickup).

I do feel like there is a little more more like white noise pickup from the audio though then usual in videos when you record, not drastic but slight..weird because I don't hear the actual hissing at all though from the phone, maybe it is just me in regards to hearing more "background white noise" in videos when recording. But no hissing at all coming from the device.

I picked up a 7plus matte black 256GB Verizon from Verizon this wed. Ordered on phone from Verizon. I had two 7 pluses 128GB'S both returned due to defects. So far this ones perfict . Was built in week 40. I did payments and got 450.00 for my iPhone 6 .

How are you guys getting that week 41 and newer jet black 7 plus? Apple Store / carrier return, exchange or Apple care replacement?

Ok I'm wondering if Genius Bar has these newer production devices or still have older stock. Returning and repurchasing my phone is going to be a hassle due to att next.

Got it in the Regent Street store today.

Just bought one online for pickup at Regent street store tomorrow. Going to unbox it, immediately make a comparison and see if its better than my current one. If it is, will keep. Else will return it on the spot.

Still have older stock because and I went and did exchange today and got week 38 and still have the sound. Pretty ticked off that I made the drive for nada dang thing to be fixed. My customer relations rep is gonna have fun with me when he calls tomorrow to see how things are.

Just picked up my Jet black, week 39 and No hissing to be heard on my phone. Just perfect. No screen issues either. The only thing is the machining problem but it's in the case and on iUP so it's going to be traded in next year. So who cares.

Nice. Still hoping I can get my hissing issue resolved.

Yeah exactly doing fixes could introduce more problems if anything. They never fixed bending on the 6 or the rattling on the 5 AND 5S

Is your screen on the warmer side though not yellow but warmer?
You mean is it calibrated correctly and not ridiculously overly blue like the 6 and 6s? Colors look correct on my display. I'll get a photo of it to share.

Regarding the yellow Screen: I'm curious did you compare it side-by-side with a 6S Plus?
Yes. I thought at first it was yellow, but I adjusted and now see that the 6s is just way too blue. My screen actually isn't *yellow*. It just isn't hyper-blue.

So I was at regent street apple store today, bought another 7 plus. Ended up getting week 37 model which was quite similar but softer in noise. Returned it on the spot. Got my existing week 39 swapped out. They only had a week 38 unit to spare. Noise seems so much more faint, almost gone but the speakers are not as loud on this :( Will go back after 2 weeks to see if can get a Week 41 unit.

Need to chime in. I took a chance and decided to swap out my Jet Black 7 for Jet Black 7 Plus last night at the Apple Store. I knew I was risking the LTE issue and hissing. My unit is from week 41 (10/10-10/16). I can confirm that I have no LTE issues (iOS 10.0.2 & VZ Carrier 25.1) and no hissing. Phone is silent and works as it should. Either I got really lucky, or the problem was fixed behind closed doors. Looking very promising for others.
