The passionate photographer!
So this week I want you to show me your passion in a single photo. Please keep it family friendly! So could be something you’re passionate about or a passion fruit!

  • The photographs must be of your own creation.

  • Explore, get creative and have fun with it.

  • You may only submit one photo per weekly contest round.

  • Please do not comment on any photos until after the judging has taken place.
(think this one has been forgotten of late!) The photo set should tell the story.

  • The contest runs for one week, starting NOW!

  • At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as they possibly can.

  • If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker.

  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

  • Winners please update the Weekly Photo Contest Master thread

I think this picture summarises it all for me.

I love to be in the nature and capturing the beautiful views on my phone is not just something I do casually. I love to bring good photography through the small lenses we are armed with, mostly. I know I won’t win with such a picture but that’s me capturing the actual view and one of my friend captured me capturing the view. .

It looks like we cyclists are not willing to accept the disrespect shown us in the last contest. As I said..... Loud and proud. :D

Cycling has been an essential part of my life for many years. I struggle with it now, ever since I was almost killed by an irresponsible truck driver. I miss it, but I still love it. PTSD sucks.

Haha @deep diver and @tizeye ...I thought about taking a picture about my bike, too.
I'm sorry to hear about your crash. I hope that you can ride at some point again without any problems.

Thanks. Me too. I could be okay with just a crash. I was hit by a tractor-trailer, and it ran over me. It was a long time before I could hold my camera up to my eye. Not being able to shoot would be much worse than not being able to ride. I only ride off road now. I was doing just fine for about 4 or 5 years, but I've been stuck for the last few years. I'll get it back. I don't know how to give up.

You have put it up your image. Remember......... There is strength in numbers

Photography, of course, is my main passion...and I particularly like doing tabletop and macro photography. So I decided to show part of my process of setting up to shoot an image for the POTD thread. Although I have a light tent and lights and such, I haven't dug those out yet and have been using natural light as much as possible. My makeshift "studio" is my dresser, where the sun comes streaming into the bedroom for part of the afternoon. A slab of black acrylic forms the base, while another, smaller piece of black acrylic becomes the background. Often when thinking about one of these projects I start out by using the iPhone to get an idea of whether what I have in mind is even feasible and what possible image outcomes might be. Since the sun was already starting to shift a bit I eventually determined that I would need to use a mirror as an additional source of reflected light (mirror isn't in this photo as I hadn't set it up yet). Eventually it was positioned out of camera view but facing the subject. Needless to say all of these reflective surfaces made it tricky to avoid capturing myself and the camera in the image! Eventually I pulled out the RX10 M4 and experimented with it for a while before shooting an image which satisfied me (but still needed some work in post-processing (black acrylic surfaces show every danged speck of dust!). Final image is in the POTD thread.

View attachment 794527 Did not find a good (at least for me) solution for taking my photocamera with me on longer bike rides. So, smartphone quality has to do the job. This is a picture of my father on our last biking vacation in Sölden, Austria.

This image validates my 1st rule of cycling:

You are always pedaling up hill and into the wind..... . .. ...... Even when you turn around.

All riders know this is true.

I hate hills.
