I always sleep with flannel blankets.
The room has to be pitch dark for sleep.
Doors are always closed, lights that aren't needed are off.
I do a 'pat down' to check that I've got everything.
Everything is always in an exact spot.
File folder lables are precise, all-caps print.
Cruise control goes on 60. Not 60 and a smidgent over or under. 60.
When I enter work orders into Access I always start with the faxed ones that the retards who can't write did. Get it over and reward myself with the neat guy's stuff.

I cannot STAND having my back to the room.
I must sleep on the side of the bed that gives a tactical advantage relative to the door.

Sheesh I'm weird..... :p   :( :D

I have an issue with leaving the volume settings on electronics on prime (and even sometimes odd) numbers. So long as it's divisible by 2 or 5, i'm good (ie. 2,4,5,6,8,10,12,14,15,16,18,20,22,.... etc.)

If i buy a MacChicken from McDonalds, I always turn the chicken fillet upside down on the bun... not sure why

I also don't finish drinks. If i have a glass of milk, soda, or even an alcoholic drink, there's ALWAYS a little bit left at the bottom when I'm done. (not even something I pay attention to... it just happens).

When i set my alarm clock, i switch back and forth between CLOCK and SET to ensure that the am/pm setting is correct and that the time is correct. i've found myself doing this upwards of 10 times repetitively in some cases when i had an exam or a flight to catch in the morning. i actually say in my head "the pm light being off means am" lol

i think we're all a little crazier than we let on :)

Is that so when the men in white coats come for you, you will be ready to jump out of bed, ram their heads together and make a break for the door, before they even know whats happening? :D

same here on those...but...

For the first time ever in my life I now sleep on the side of the bed that is not nearest the door. guess i finally got comfortable.

I always sleep with a small light on and I must have some sort of white noise,(e.g., a fan) total silence makes me insane.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is when I'm setting the volume on things. I like having volumes set at multiples of 2 or 5. I don't like them being on prime numbers either. The numbers 21, 11 are acceptable however. I also hate the number 26. I will go to great lengths to make sure this is the case, even if it means the volume being a little too loud or soft.

I made my post (3 posts up) before reading yours.... that's fascinating  i figured i was the only one like that

i think having a small amount of OCD is helpfull.

i sleep facing the closest wall

when hunting, i check about every minute to make sure i have a shell, or bullet in the chamber

if i don't fix somthing, i don't trust it

i can't stand driving the speed limit (70mph) 85 is my prefered speed in my car.

all i can think of now that i'm on the spot.

When I'm relaxed and put my feet up, I cross feet and my toes (big one and one next to it). I never realised until it was pointed out to me.

I also have to be barefoot all the time at home. Moment I get in, it's off with the shoes and socks.

I have to sleep in pretty much complete darkness can be some light ex.(comptuer lights and printer lights) I have to be faceing the door in almost any room if I don't then I feel nervous I can have anything other than the Machintosh HD icon on the computer desktop also my screen when everything is open I.E. both messengers and safari or both messengers and itunes the messengers have to be on either side and the window in the middle with it all level like this lol

I was discussing this thread yesterday with a friend, and I have a question for all of you who do these things. Do you mind the fact that you do these things? If you don't like the fact that you do them, have you ever tried to not do them?

The reason I ask, is that when I was thinking if there was anything like this that I do, I remembered something when I was younger. I had a teddy bear ("Big Ted") that I'd had since I was born, and had always "needed" him to get to sleep, as I used to cuddle him when I was going to sleep. It occurred to me when I was about 7 or so, just after we'd moved, that if I ever went somewhere without Big Ted I wouldn't be able to get to sleep without him, and so maybe it would be better not to need him. I decided to try and wean myself off him so that I would be able to get to sleep without him. After a few weeks, I had done, and although I still have Big Ted, ever since then, I no longer need him to get to sleep. ;)

So I think ever since then, I've always tried not to need something like that, or always do something like that, or similar. So the reason I ask is that if you, say, have to always have something to go to sleep by (just to make an example), have you ever tried to stop needing that thing? Or do you not mind that you need that thing? Or if you have to have things in a certain order — is it a hassle to keep having to do that, or are you not bothered?

The only habit I have that really annoys me myself is that I cannot do something workwise until just after there is enough time to complete it comfortably. If I have plenty of time to get something done I just cant concentrate on it and get it done. Due to this my workload is insane, it is the only way I cant get stuff done is to totally overload myself work wise so that I dont really have much slack time otherwise I just waste it. I would love to be able to motivate myself to work better.

No, I'm fine. :)

More of the mess that is me:

- Numerical volume levels must be at even numbers with the exception of multiples of 5. (Why, oh why must they use the numbers? What's wrong with... |||||||||--------------- ???)

EDIT: Looking at the line and dash volume level representation above, I remembered that my parents' TV is like that, with 16 dashes at mute. When adjusting the volume on that TV, it has to be at an even number of lines. Preferably 8.

- All doors must be closed in the room I am sleeping in, otherwise I cannot sleep. However, I can sleep on either side of the bed in relation to where the doors are located in the room.

- The switch problem I have is getting worse. Just lettin' you know.

- I overtighten everything. Everyone who visits complains they cannot open 2-liters or jars because I close them extremely tight. When working on vehicles or anything with screws or bolts, I keep extras because I strip them frequently. I've been known to twist lugs right off of vehicles by overtightening lug nuts to extreme lengths. Now, I do my best to trust the power of my impact wrench. :)

- I'm a Li-ion battery freak. All gadgets with lithium ion batteries must be completely discharged and full charged in one cycle. Do not plug it in unless it's truly dead. Do not unplug it unless it's fully charged. Because of the trouble this causes, I rarely use my PowerBook on battery power. I've been known to stay at the office almost 45 minutes longer than I had to because the light was still ****ing amber! ;)

- Along with what cantthinkofone said, 70MPH is not fast enough. 85MPH is acceptable, though I prefer 90+. Call me unsafe or irresponsible, but I feel more comfortable at the higher speed and I believe driving how you are most comfortable is the safest way to drive - so long as you make sure not to make others uncomfortable (e.i. avoid changing lanes quickly, following close, passing on the right, etc).

Teehee. :D
  • I have to have pens/pencils/brushes (for painting) in a specific order.
  • I frequently tug on my eyelashes (sounds a lot more gross than it is, really).
  • For zippered compartments that have two zipper handle-thingies, I like having them together on a specific side of the pocket/bag.
  • I also prefer having a small night light on in the bathroom (and in hotels will leave the bathroom light on but leave the door slightly ajar) reason being I frequently wake up in the middle of the night and use the restroom-- it's easier on the eyes if there's only a night light.
  • I HAVE TO fully close the cover on a toilet PRIOR to flushing since I read somewhere that each flush causes a huge mist-- that can be propelled to around 20 feet from the toilet itselt-- of the toilet water and whatever "goodies" are in it.
  • If there is a huge project, major exam to study for, etc. I can't fully concentrate until I trim my nails extremely short and file them.

That's all I can think of for now...

I used to have to sleep w/ my blankie... until a hotel maid mistook it for a hotel towel (to be fair, it was a blankie converted from a beach towel ) and took it from the room. :( So I had no choice but to be weaned. I still prefer to have stuffed animals around though. Hee. But I can certainly do without.

As for my other habits, they sort of bug me if/when others comment, but I think they're relatively harmless and don't necessarily hinder the way I'd like to live.

Good to know, thanks. I'm just interested, because although I've got an addictive personality when it comes to other things, I don't seem to have this at all, so I'm just interested what it's like and how people feel about it. Thanks. And sorry about your blankie. :( Nasty hotel maid. :p

I'm in the same boat with devilot. My habits are who I am, not limits on what I do. It does really bug me when things aren't in fives. So I find ways to make them into fives or multiples of fives. It's balancing, it's life as arrangement and discovery.

It's the fraud of narrative.

When I drop a load, the shower curtain HAS to be open. If it's closed, I simply can't crap! There also has to be a continous background noise (bathroom fan is my favorite) whenever I'm doing anything in the bathroom.

That's all for now. :p

Thank God for that.
