It's kind of a shame that 2^18 hasn't made a single post, we'll have to wait a while to see if 2^19 does any better.

packerfan43042 is also following the pattern, but it's a little early to conclude that he/she will never post.

And now you've completely jinxed it. If they come across this thread they'll probably post just out of spite. ;)

I'd prefer that to the other possibility, that he/she will avoid posting just because it would ruin the wacky theory of a geeky forum administrator.

After all, we scientists must accept our experimental results and be willing to revise or even scrap our theories as the evidence accumulates. We don't want our theories to influence the outcome, in the way that measuring the position of an atom changes its momentum. Or, in this case, we don't want measuring the posiTom of an aTom to change its momenTom. :D

Nice summary, atszyman. Perhaps there is a curse of the 2-powers, preventing them from speaking. And it can only be broken by lucky number 2^13. But that wouldn't explain posts by 2^11.

So I have a simpler and more likely explanation. Let L = log base 2 (member number). If L is an integer, that member posts if and only if L and L-6 are both prime.

1 = 2^0: 0 and -6 not both prime
2 = 2^1: 1 and -5 not both prime
4 = 2^2: 2 and -4 not both prime
8 = 2^3: 3 and -3 not both prime
16 = 2^4: 4 and -2 not both prime
32 = 2^5: 5 and -1 not both prime
64 = 2^6: 6 and 0 not both prime
128 = 2^7: 7 and 1 not both prime
256 = 2^8: 8 and 2 not both prime
512 = 2^9: 9 and 3 not both prime
1024 = 2^10: 10 and 4 not both prime
2048 = 2^11: 11 and 5 are both prime
4096 = 2^12: 12 and 6 not both prime
8192 = 2^13: 13 and 7 are both prime
16384 = 2^14: 14 and 8 not both prime
32768 = 2^15: 15 and 9 not both prime
65536 = 2^16: 16 and 10 not both prime
131072 = 2^17: 17 and 11 are both prime

Therefore, member #131,072 will be a talkative one.
You have too much time on your hands. :D:p
