Sorry to hear this. I have been hesitant to put a case on my 14PM as well, but I did find one that I like quite a bit — Moshi iGlaze clear — this has aluminum buttons and camera plate. This should hide the scuffs somewhat, so you won’t be thinking about them.

iphones you can do monthly subscriptions or pay in full.

I know that for macbook it used to be one fee but that changed last year so you can now do yearly subscriptions for the macbook. I havent purchased applecare+ for the ipad so im not sure if i think its across the board.

I wish apple could do yearly subscriptions for the iphones as well instead of monthly

I recently put monthly coverage on my 14 PM and I thought yearly was an option.

I think a scuffed phone looks and feels better than one in a case. These devices are meant to be used, they are not collectors items to keep in mint condition. As long as it’s not on the screen, which is more durable than all these cheap cracked and scratched screen protectors people put on their devices, I don’t think a few scratches are that bad.

I also prefer to go naked, but with the camera bump getting ever more bumpy I caved and bought a Latercase. Have to say, it's not going to offer drop protection if you're a phone dropper, but I feel less concerned about lens scratches now, and it's as close to naked as a case (vs a skin) is going to get.

Sorry to hear that! It sucks this happened so soon after getting your 14 Pro.

I've been using iPhones since the 4 and I've never purchased a case or screen protector. It isn't the smartest approach at all, but I just accept my phones will get dinged up with scuffs and scratches over time. Doesn't bother me. My 13 Pro is pretty banged up along on the edges but still works flawlessly. I guess it just comes with choosing to go without a case. Definitely not for everybody. Ha.

Hopefully you have better luck going forward!

Similar story here—had my 6S Plus on the top of the toilet when I was showering at my house in college. The Bluetooth speaker I had was rattling the surface and it slid my iPhone off, knocked the bowl (thank goodness it didn’t fall in the bowl) and took a chip in the side. I didn’t think porcelain could chip aluminum, but now I know!

Since you've already dropped it and got some scuff marks I see no reason to start using a case now. Yes, you could prevent it from receiving further damage but you've got AppleCare to take care of any non-cosmetic equipment failures.

I generally use cases on my iPhones, but I was in a weird situation a few years ago where I had to take it out of its case for a single night to fit into a small pocket in a costume. Naturally, that night I dropped it and got a scuff mark. After that I was caseless and it really was more enjoyable to use.

Live with it until the damages are too annoying to you and then use one of the 2 annual accidental cases your Applecare+ covers to have them change it.
Whoever says Applecare+ won't cover that just doesn't understand how Applecare+ works. Or they are confusing it with just the regular Applecare. :)

Definitely this. Its now unlimited too so its not just two incidents.

I love Otterbox I have one on my phone and one on my iPad. I also have a screen protector. I like to keep my devices looking and working good.
I'm curious about the looking good part.

If you're using a case, you're covering up the device. So why does the whole 'looking good' part matter? Oh sure, I understand protecting against cracked screens, scrapes, etc. Is that what you mean really? Because a case is going to cover up scratches and dings just as much as it's going to cover up 'looking good'.

Do you sell or trade in your devices? If so, is keeping it looking good only to get maximum value for that? I mean, if you don't, then what is the point of keeping it looking good if a case prevents you from seeing how good it looks?

Or do you periodically pull it out of the case to make sure it still looks good/admire the good looks of the device? Is a case being used so you can enjoy that moment every once in a while?

Or did you really mean you use cases to protect your device so it doesn't get beat up? That I get, although I've never understood just who it is that case users keep their devices pristine for - when a device is never out of it's case?

I guess it's just me. I don't have it in me to keep my devices looking great so the next guy can enjoy what I did not.

This is one highly underrated comment. Bravo!

This is kinda where I’m at. I like Apple’s design. I want to experience that. The $1000 phone I paid for. I don’t want to cover it with a bulky $60 case.

I haven’t used a case since iPhone 5… I drop mine occasionally. I think only once I’ve done screen replacements. If you can handle the small scratches and scuffs, the devices are really durable. Only recently the screens have started to scratch a little easier, but that’s because they’re softer and therefore don’t crack as easily. Even with that I often set it on the table face down. I’ve maybe gone to face up with my 14 seeing if I can delay the scratches a bit… But I’ve always gotten full value for trade as well. They tolerate a fair bit of basic wear and tear…

I dunno. I’ve never found a case I like as much as the phone…

Man, all this love for OtterBox in this thread? If you like your phone in a bulky, ugly case I guess that’s the way to go? Can think of multiple brands that are cheaper, thinner yet still offer good protection. Hell, Apple’s over priced silicon and leather cases are even better imo. Unless you all work in construction and regularly drop your phone from up high on an extension ladder not sure why you feel you need a two piece, ugly case that looks like a Transformer **** out??

I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm a giant klutz, so I don't really have a choice when it comes to using a case.

Also, Otterbox is utter trash. Just bulky and ugly cases. Just get a Spigen case. I've cartwheeled my phones across the floor with Spigen cases more times than I can count and they've alway been fine.

An iPhone can also look good in a case. Looking good isn’t exclusive to a phone being out of its case, far from it in fact. All depends on the case the person chooses too and it’s very subjective to that individual.

I use a case because I prefer the more rounded edges and overall feel of leather versus the bare steel/glass. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy how the phone feels without it; it’s just the direction I’ve always gone when getting a new device.

What’s the spigen case you got mate? I’m also eyeing a few

That's too bad.

I've never left my iPhone sitting on top of the toilet at night. You're fortunate it didn't fall in.

I have a business card holder my iPhone (and all previous phones) sits in at night. That's on a desk, next to the bed. Assuming the highly improbable happens and my iPhone somehow manages to slip off the holder, walk itself about a foot over to the edge and then drop, it's going to hit a carpeted floor.

I don't use cases either. When you stop using cases you have to start being aware of where you place your phone - and don't leave it places where there is high potential for it to fall or get damaged.
Your first paragraph made me 🤣🤣😂

I went caseless for two years with iPhone 12 and didn't have drop single time. This year I get case from day one for iP14Pro and got scuff on the screen after falling to the concrete. Throwed case in garbage. Bought AC+.
