It will have the same old boring and outdated displays and the same old boring and outdated 12 megapixel camera.
1. What is boring and outdated about the screens, the notch? If so that’s subjective. No 120hz? That may matter to you but I’m not a spec chaser.actually, it’s quite incredible that so many here just put up with AppLe’s complacency and ineptness with their new products. 2020 iPhone was supposed to be the big one to wait for and upgrade to, but it’s turned into a disaster. Same boring and outdated screens, same boring and outdated camera, weak 5G radio and to top it all off, it’s going to be the most expensive iPhone ever. Please give me one good reason anyone with an iPhone 8 or newer should even bother with the 12.
Well this is just golden! I think the Internet has been won, people. Thank you for this.1. What is boring and outdated about the screens, the notch? If so that’s subjective. No 120hz? That may matter to you but I’m not a spec chaser.
2. Same boring and outdated camera? Please share a link to the specs of the iPhone 12 cameras. I’ll wait....
3. Weak 5G confirmed? Show me a credible source. I’ll wait.....
4. Most expensive iPhone ever? Let’s see a link to confirmed pricing. I’ll wait....
Reasons for someone with an 8 or newer to update?
- they want Face ID
- they want the 5.4” size
- they want an OLED screen that was a premium price in the past
- they want a faster phone
- they want improved cameras
- they want better battery life
- they want a different form factor
- they have the money and feel like it
Lastly, if the new phones are guaranteed to suck, then why are your panties in such a bunch over the release date 😂
No maybes about it.Maybe I was incorrect about WHY Apple's stock dropped 18-20%, maybe it wasn't the iPhone delay, but there are several sources that claim they did take a hit over it.
Tens of millions, that's who.Moving on, yes, we DO know what they iPhone will have. It will have the same old boring and outdated displays and the same old boring and outdated 12 megapixel camera. Every other company has massively upgraded both, why hasn't Apple? The richest company on earth is still stuck with 2018 tech, it's pathetic. Yet this will be the most expensive iPhone ever. Again, who's going to buy that?
And yet, you upgraded from a XS Max to a 11 Pro Max. Why? The XS Max is definitely not older than an iPhone 8. There is "zero reason to upgrade".The two biggest features that will get people to upgrade are better displays and better cameras, Apple failed miserably on delivering either. Unless you have something older than an iPhone 8, there is zero reason to upgrade.
This is the best question yet!Lastly, if the new phones are guaranteed to suck, then why are your panties in such a bunch over the release date 😂

The same camera? You’re a professional photographer but don’t understand the difference a larger sensor makes?
Ho-kay...
There has been nothing confirmed about a larger sensor on the new iPhone. Even if they did make it larger, it would have to be at least twice as big to make any real world difference, and we know that's never going to happen. It would only be going in the Pro Max too, maybe I dont want an even bigger Max on the 12.
Megapixels don't matter much if you are talking about going from 12 to 16 or 20, but 12 to 108? Thats a massive difference and will for sure make for more detailed photos as many tests on the 108 megapixel camera phones have already proved. Check some out on YT. Even the jump to 64 would be a big upgrade.
How exactly does the jump in megapixel alone improve the quality, please explain?
Why does the jump from 12 to 16 not matter as much as the jump from 12 to 108mp?
Seriously? 2:40 of the video below should sum it up rather quickly for you...
That about summarizes and wraps it all up.“The food at this restaurant is terrible! And the portions are too small!”
Doesn't quite seem like this thread is about that.Disappointment because iOS 14 is to buggy. I really didn’t want to spend a lot of spare time making widgets and figuring out an operating system which is no longer intuitive (thank you macrumors for all the tutorials)
It seems to me as iOS 14 is a work in progress not a Gold Master version
The thing with having an iPhone is you have more options In the things that matter, for my use case anyway. For communication you have both iMessage and WhatsApp. On android you only have the choice of WhatsApp. For navigation you get both Apple Maps and google maps. No Apple Maps for you android boy. For video we get both FaceTime and google duo. No faceytime(in borats accent) for you Samsung slugs. You can even set up google assistance using the shortcuts app on iPhone. So why would I get an android and be excluded from not having those choices and also developers make apps better, especially social media apps, for iPhone.
It’ll be a big upgrade for me coming from an iPhone 8+. I’m not interested in the Pro models which are supposed to be the better specs so that should be some indication that there are people out there who don’t upgrade based on specs alone.actually, it’s quite incredible that so many here just put up with AppLe’s complacency and ineptness with their new products. 2020 iPhone was supposed to be the big one to wait for and upgrade to, but it’s turned into a disaster. I used to have "Apple only" days - iWork, Maps, Mail etc. I actually like most other Apple-based peripherals but Maps was always frustrating. So disappointing to see it still that way. I HATE the Waze UI but it's features and functionality keep me coming back.In all the years I’ve been using iPhones I’ve rarely used Apple maps. I tried it recently as I thought after 8 years of development it must have improved leaps and bounds. It went wrong and I have to say I find it rather crap. The interface is nice looking and I would imagine Apple have spent more on it for the US market. Waze and Google Maps are better options in Europe.
What else is there in the tech world? This is why progress is made, to be fair. We have an innate need for more, better, smaller, faster. I, for one, am NOT complaining. I'm coming back into iOS for the first time in a LONG time and I just want a quality phone that will last 4-5 years. Luckily, I know that's a guarantee with Apple.MR members: complaining how sucks Apple and the new iPhones will be
Also MR members: complaining how they cannot buy the new iPhones soon enough
Somebody needs to make a meme out of this. Just too funny.![]()

I agree. Apple shouldn’t have released Maps when they did really, way back in 2012 with the iPhone 5. It was a major marketing point for that keynote and when I got my iPhone 5 like many others, I realised it was absolutely dreadful. It has meant that despite having it on every iPhone since, I just don’t find I use it because other reliable options have earned my confidence. I really don’t know why Apple continued trying to compete in the maps segment.I used to have "Apple only" days - iWork, Maps, Mail etc. I actually like most other Apple-based peripherals but Maps was always frustrating. So disappointing to see it still that way. I HATE the Waze UI but it's features and functionality keep me coming back.
So why not do that?picked up a Samsung or other phone
