I don't know why everyone insists on making these mockups. They're NOT going to change the aspect ratio of the iPhone. Most likely, they'll keep it the same size, if not, they'll increase the size to around 4", keeping the same amount of pixels, and thus slightly lowering the DPI.

I know a ton of people want a bigger screen, and I would like a bigger screen, but not at the expense of a bigger phone. I guess I just have small hands, but I can't use any of these giant Android phones one-handed, so I think the current size is perfect.

An iphone with same width screen, just taller is just totally ridiculous.

Like we need more tiny lines of text you can't read without glasses.

Common apple... don't let this be real.
I don't really like the samsung product, but I can see why people might want to pull away to it.

I mean, if the galaxy 3 had iOS, I might even be tempted. The current screen format is getting a bit old.

It's like having a 14" screen on the desktop.

After seeing the 4.3 inch Lumia 900, I'd like it in 4.3 or 4.6 inches.

I agree 100% The Lumia doesn't look too big in person.

I like the screen size, but why does the phone have to be that much taller? surely they can get rid of some of the bezel from the top and bottom.

the front should harbour as much screen real estate as possible. I dont like the amount of bezel there is on the top and sides.

I may be in the minority but I really don't care about a bigger screen, PERSONALLY. I'm more of a software guy so I'm really concerned with the aspects of iOS 6 and how great that will/should be. Don't get me wrong, a bigger screen would not hurt but it's not at the top of my list.

I agree—I want more storage, more speed/game detail, faster processing, faster networking, better camera—the usual bumps—and sure, a bigger screen too (IF the device doesn’t bulk out a lot). These are all nice, but the REAL features will always be software (albeit software enabled by newer/faster hardware).

After all, an iPhone or any touch device is, in the end, just a screen. We already have a really nice retina-res screen with a great viewing angle. The true power (and where iOS has always been so far ahead) is in what you can DO with that screen. iOS 6 will show us (and app developers) what that may mean!

Put another way... I’d much prefer the same exact current iPhone with awesome new software over some new design (even tallscreen) with too little OS advancement and too few new app possibilities!

To be honest like the taller screen. And as App developer I don't think it's a big deal to change the app to make it use the extra space on top/bottom. Old apps could keep the same ratio and iOS would just use the space left on top for some status information or widgets.

If they enlarge the screen, and I hope they do to 4", they will do it proportionately. They dislike 16:9 because it only looks good for HD media and nothing else, especially apps in landscape mode. If they ever change aspect ratio, they will give developers a very long lead time and deprecate springs and struts.

These are about the same comments that people had when the iPhone 4 design leaked. Then when Apple announced it, it became the sleekest design ever.

It would not surprise me one bit if Apple decided to go with a longer screen, and I bet people will all of a sudden be claiming that it was a brilliant decision.

Every time I see the rumors of a new iPhone changing the aspect ratio, I just like to think WHY?! Why is this even considered a even viable idea of truth? I know a rumor is a rumor, but we know that Apple makes it's money with minimal changes and excellent customer products and support.

Would they even risk introducing fragmentation into their app store? HELL NO.

Best case scenario is they actually make the phone bigger and maintain the aspect ratio. I wouldn't be too surprised if they keep the resolution, and tweak the ppi to still qualify as retina.

Once again, Apple makes money by using same/similar parts to drive costs down. You think they would change the home button? After years of products, I point towards NO. Even iOS has kept it's consistency so the average consumer can easily move between upgrades.

You want a bigger screen? That's what the iPad is for. Apple knows this.

Bad Idea for a taller only resolution

Apple will pay dearly if they only go with a taller / longer screen. They need to keep the same ratio, so the screen is larger in both directions. The phone may only get slightly larger, but not by much, if even at all.

I believe Apple will make the right decision.

And who cares about an extra row of icons? Features, features, features!!!!

I'm stealing this from another post, but why can't they keep the 3:2 ratio and make the phone look like this?
