it's cheaper, easier to get (at least here in Oregon) and there's no hangover. It's really God's magic plant.
and weed is actually "better" for your body than alcohol.
Thank you both, very much.

I get WAAAAY into my own head when I smoke pot -- It's really a bad time.
and then the next day I'm all anxious about all the thoughts I had, and stress out a lot.
I'll take a headache for a few hours in the morning over the feelings I have when I'm high.
And I don't know how much BETTER pot is for you.
Thank you both, very much.
From that point on whenever my dad would send me to the kitchen for a beer I would take some sips (secretly) and then bring it over to him.
.
how come your thanking us? im just curious![]()
Because I'm sick of all the people crapping on about how stupid it is. It just gets old.
There's a reason why it's called "dope".
I'm not at the legal drinking age yet, and I live in a household where drinking was never allowed and I'm expected to not drink even when I am legal. (religious reasons). But I definitely plan on drinking as soon as I am legal and am out of this household..or maybe sooner, if I can figure how to get away with it. I've tasted alcohol before, but thats mostly the extent of it. Drinking makes me nervous, alcoholism runs in my family.

I know the legal age is 21 (which I think is crazy, in Australia it is 18) but what age do kids usually start drinking at parties and what not? Here, kids at about late 15's, 16's start drinking at parties. I started when I was about 14 but I was an idiot back then. Made some stupid mistakes. What about in America? Is it about the same difference from the legal age as here? People 18-19 drink often? Or is it about the same as here age-wise? I know in the UK it is just wild (huge generilisation but I know from experience).
And what qualifications, pray tell, do you possess that would give you the prerogative to make such a claim?Personally I don't think that it can hurt anyone in their teens as long as they drink responsibly . . .
The legal age here is 18 mind, that doesn't stop most people from starting early.I'm jealous of you Brit's, you get to start drinking at 16!

I thought you could drink beer and wine at 16, and 18 for hard liquor> I was mistaken.

16 year olds can drink Wine, Beer, Cider in a pub, with a meal. They cannot purchase the alcohol though, an adult must buy it for them.
Technically, anyone over the age of 5 can drink alcohol at home in the UK. You have to be 18 to buy it though.![]()
The burden of proof lies with you, the one making the claim, not me who is questioning the claim. You made a factual claim but provided absolutely no evidence but your own opinion based on anecdotal understandings. It would be no different than me claiming that "I personally don't think dolphins are mammals."Under adult supervision, and in moderation. And what qualifications do you posses that would allow you to judge my claim?
And again, what evidence can you provide which would support your claims? You act as if drinking among teens in Europe isn't a problem, but I assure it is. In fact, European Youth Drink, Get Drunk More than U.S. Youth.I'm sorry, I just don't agree with the whole DARE MADD alcohol is the scourge of the earth, reinstate prohibition view. Most European countries don't give a damn if a child drinks under adult supervision, so why here in the united states, do we press child neglect charges on parents that allow their children to have a glass of wine at dinner occasionly? I'm just saying that people in the US overreact to alcohol. I understand that alcohol can kill and destroy families (i have witnessed both), but there is no reason to have a mass hysteria over alcohol. I kid in my school district was suspended because he was seen drinking (with parental consent) at his parents christmas party, because the head of MADD at our school freaked about it.

I did NOT act as if drinking among teens in europe is a problem. All I said was that we (the US) is the ONLY western country that has it's drinking age set that high. In my opinion, it;s due to hypocritical yuppies that say that alcohol is the scurge of the earth, but then go home and down a cocktail every night. Once again this is an opinion if you need to please refer to the definition of opinion that was stated earlier in this post. And once again you manage to make an incorrect assumption (there's an old saying that assuming "makes an ass out of you and me"), stating that you have family in Europe and act as if no one else does. And if you really must know half of my family lives in Germany.I've been to Europe and I have family in Europe, but I'm tired of hearing from both sides that drinking is a larger problem in the U.S. because "we don't grow up appreciating it from a young age." It simply isn't true.
