Oh no I don’t like this at all. Apple products are tools like any other. They’re cool tools that I enjoy using them, but I’m not thankful for them.

This feels like some real cult-of-apple stuff.

I'm not here to argue, but to gently suggest that the more things in life you are grateful for directly correlates with your happiness.

I'm not better than you or even always happy/grateful, so just offering you my confession here.

The reactions to this question are very illuminating as to the type of people we have here.

I think the question itself is wonderful, and I am grateful for so many things in life, including Apple products.

My current favorite has to be the M2 MBA that I'm typing this on. Just a beautiful and powerful machine that doesn't get in the way of the work.

Much love and gratitude to everyone here, including the MR editors whom I sometimes criticize.

Everything apart from the iPhone which personally I hate , screen too long not wide enough and typing on it feels like I’m using my elbows . iPad wipes the floor with it in my every day use I find , shame they don’t do a foldable iPhone ..

I’d nominate the Mac mini m1 as the best Mac vfm of the last many years , things amazingly capable for very little money , silent and deadly

Also wish Apple would slow down the Mac updates and concentrate on quality over quantity

Special mention for Apple Watch which I thought was a gimmick until I bought one , now I find it truly wonderful and couldn’t function without it

The Mac, since 1984 (now a 14" MacBook pro M1). It's just a perfect machine. I used PCs and Linux machines but the Mac is just a better value.

macOS. After 20 years of company induced Windows suffering, culminating and ending with the Vista disaster, it was a revelation and blessing.

TBH there is non of them that make me THANKFULL - don't get me wrong i would choose my mac over my work pc any day...

But if Apple one day desided to be a non profit, ending world hunger or giving away computers to all the needy, then i would be thankful, even if it did not impact me at all.

Also i don't get how hard it is to fix the obvious problems

Like SIRI starting apple music every time i try to resume my mofibo app (I NEVER use apple music, well besdes the 5 times a day that apple desiced HEY lets start this app instead of the one you paused literally 5 min ago)

Or that macox default to another languish layout for my keyboard every time I turn off the computer
or that

Or that shared notes keep popping up in message app with "this person might change the note" and i have to manually open it and click ignore XX times for Each indivudal EDIT.

OR that i cant have 1 volum setting for the ringtone and 1 volum setting for my alarms

OR add a freaking battery indicator on my 250$ airpods (ohh but it is on screen, yes nice gimmick, but then i have to get phone out of pocket, and 9/10 times it does not show within first 10 seconds)

OR fix the Clicking through fullscreen apps in MacOS...

1. Apple Watch with its insights into health metrics, because it makes me more conscious of how I live (sleep, heart, workouts) and keeps me off my phone.
2. AirPods Pro 2 due to the excellent noise cancelling and small form factor. I have long public transport commutes and the silence is bliss.
3. In general the (mostly) seamless continuity of activities when moving from one device to another.

Looking forward to an iMac or Mac mini with M2 or M3 chips next year.

The Mac. While the iPhone might be the most convenient tool to carry around, the Mac makes me money. It’s the powerhouse of my cell. The productivity gains I beheld when switching from a PC were enormous and it meshes well with my creative mindset. I would not be where I am today doing the things that I do without the Mac.

My favorite Apple device in recent years has to be the AirPods Pro. Especially the second generation. It’s almost perfect—far closer to perfect than any Apple device has ever come, and I’ve owned almost all of them.

The whole Apple ecosystem really; despite the major screwings Apple gave me by killing MacProject, Aperture and Filemaker run time. The one device that affected me the most was the 2011 MBP, which thanks to Thunderbolt i/o was the only laptop for at least a year that truly worked as a desktop replacement box. A game changer.

MacBook Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Sadly, this raises a critical point I find myself saying a lot nowadays about Apple products. I like them because they're NOT Google or Microsoft products. I just couldn't stand using a Windows 11 laptop, or an Android phone.

Once upon a time, I used to like Apple products for their inherent worth – for the fact they were better. But macOS hasn't had any good feature updates for a long time and is treated like a poor man's version of iOS/iPad OS. The iPhone 13 Pro Max's camera is disappointing and I honesty preferred the quality of image from my iPhone 8 before it.

Apple is slowly starting to slip and is failing to maintain traction. I think this is undoubtedly because they anticipated having the VR/AR tech by now but the pandemic has delayed it.

I know many people will disagree. But there's a smell of rot in the air.

Mac. Graphic design is hard and using a Mac makes it a lot easier to focus on not being able to think of good designs. I wish I were born earlier so I could have experienced the very early days of design software on Apple computers, not that I would have been able to afford it. So today I'm thankful that Mac is affordable considering the high quality of the product.
Be careful what you wish for. The early days of graphic design on computers sucked because graphics power was so very, very lame, even on the "wicked fast" IIfx. One would take an action then wait for _minutes_ to see what happened. Such slow response times were not conducive to learning.

M1 MBP. Got it in 2020, still a game changer in terms of speed and reliability. That and the iPhone that changed the world. Thanks Apple.

I’m thankful for not having to use Windows at my work. 🙏

Although I’m curious what happend if the Mac never became a thing. Would Android or Linux be the biggest contender?

I enjoy using my M1 iPad Pro 12.9 inch the most. Definitely my best tech purchase of the last 10 years.

The M1 iMac comes in second.

I agree. I do believe Apple needs a big shake up in terms of how it is managed with product lines split across autonomous areas of the business rather that it all being controlled centrally as now. As you say macOS has been allowed to languish, and that's because company focus has been on iOS but why should that happen? macOS and the Mac should be miles ahead of the competition by now was it a proper division of the company with dedicated management.

Recently Craig Federighi in an interview said how the renaissance of the Mac was great. But again why was it ignored and allowed to fall behind for such a long period before the company took note and began to invest in it again? When the rumoured VR/AR headset launches will the iPhone then be put on the back burner?

Apple's management worked when it was a smaller company with a visionary CEO but now it has so many products the highly centralised model just doesn't work and leads to areas of the business being ignored and no internal competition. Just look at the generally poor state of Apple's software of late.

They are fine for now but in many areas they are becoming second best. And it only gets harder to catch up.

Going to be unpopular here but : I find these days windows is a lot better than 10 years ago and for many things I prefer it over MacOS which has improved a lot less in my view (I think MacOS (previously OSX) peaked with Snow Leopard).

Still some things that MacOS does better, but also many that Windows does better

On the hardware side though I still prefer Apple devices but I like that I can use windows via parallels on my M1 iMac.
