I think the flagship iPhone 6 will be the same size as the 5s.

But I do think sooner rather than later they will further expand their offerings. Some people like bigger phones, eventually they will address those customers. I imagine the line-up next year being something like:

iPhone 6c $99
iPhone 6 $199
iPhone 6XL $249

They will probably have a better name than XL though. And it would not surprise me at all if it comes out in the spring. You'd think they would want to spread their offerings out on the calendar a little, instead of having a new product bomb go off every fall.

So I'm thinking I'll just buy the 5S and have it for a couple of years maybe 3. If they change the size maybe I can adjust later but for now my thinking is the iPhone 5s will be my phone for a long while. I just bought a 5 from a iPhone 4. Don't want to buy a phone every year :p

Thanks guys

As long as they keep a top end phone with the smaller screen, you can have your bigger one. If I need a bigger screen, I'll get an iPad mini. The phone needs to fit in my pocket.

Larger screen will impact battery life, graphics speed and typing with one hand.

Not going to happen. How will anyone eat a sandwich in one hand and type a message in the other like I'm doing right now?

Not going to happen.

I'm in the same boat, 4.5 max. Although the Moto X feels pretty damn good in the hand at 4.7".

I think the screen size will end up being whatever will allow the OS to scale accordingly.

I believe that the bigger screen for the iPhone 6 is a sure thing.

I held a Moto X this past weekend and really believe that the size is PERFECT. The S4 is to big for my taste and I also don't like the HTC One, sizewise. The Moto X has a 4.7 inch display which seems perfect, and the overall form factor is not too big, not too small.

Hopefully Apple engineers will make it happen.

98.42 percent. book it.

And the 5s will be called 6c with the plastic body and whole new set of colors, they will probably add another minor tweak like they did with the facetime camera on the 5c.

I don't want the larger screen of the next iPhone 6, but the 6c which will inherit the internals of the 5s, like better camera and Touch ID..I will be all over it even though I already have the 5s.

Just really hoping next years c model is in shiny black.

I see a Samsung Note size iPhone coming before the iPhone 6. Samdung has sold nearly 40 million of giant plastic phablet. I'm sure that has Apple's full attention.
It will most likely be followed up by 4.5"-4.7" iPhone 6.

Since Jobs is out of the picture they seem to be all about accommodating choice, starting with the release of the iPad Mini (something he said would never happen) and now the 5C with all the colors. I think screen size choices are a distinct possibility. By keeping the same aspect ratio they will be able to do this without any OS fragmentation whatsoever.

Apple can go to about 4.3 with changing the iPhone case size. Everyone one wants bigger phones but Apple's iPhone success has a lot to do with 3rd party companies. The problem with Android device is you buy accessories and docks and its pretty much useless when it comes time to upgrade. Apple has done a great job at seeing this and not screwing over the consumer. I for one am glad Apple didn't get into the screen size war... All those people with multiple Galaxy phone very few have accessories that last most than a year.

Well the difference with Apple is that they last 2 years. The "S" upgrade is usually the same dimensions with only internal upgrades. And in some cases they needed to be adjusted like the mute and volume controls before on the Verizon and AT&T models were slightly different.
But again Apple doesn't care about 3rd party companies or accessories. They do want you to upgrade and buy new stuff every year so they can make more money.

I'd guess they'll finally make an edge to edge screen... which would allow another .5" increase in screen size while keeping the phone about the same.

you're very wrong... that's like saying Apple does not care about its Developers and apps. Apple cares a lot about 3rd Party accessory maker. Apple gets a cut of that just like they get a cut from developers. Its easy to dismiss the thought cause consumers are focused on "big screens". But, as a developer the support and "care" that Apple gives to us is very noticeable and it would be hard to believe that type of concern does not carry over to 3rd party accessory makers. Heck you can by a car with a built in ligtning port and dock... the consumers and 3rd party companies are making Apple's iPhone successful.

Off course they care, they care to make more money by selling you new cases, screen protectors etc..:D

I wouldn't want a larger screen since the iPhone screen is pretty spot on...but why do you hope people won't get a choice? They wouldn't discontinue the current size...they would offer a larger option.

I agree - those people are ridiculous.

That said, I think 80% chance Apple will offer an option with a larger screen. We'll probably see leaks/mockups in the next 4-6 months.

It will happen. Apple is listening if you haven't noticed. They're aware we want an option of a larger screen I promise you.

I want them to do one of two things:

keep dimensions of the phone similar *while redesigning it*, not too much bigger if they're gonna do that, and less/no bezel more screen

or if they're going to keep the 4" thing, remove the bezel and make the phone roughly the size of the screen, and again less if not no bezel.

I'd prefer the first one.

iPad gets MUCH more battery life than the iPhone. Because with the bigger screen also comes a bigger battery.
