I needed that album's Full Moon Madness track last weekend, I think...

Man I loathe the full moon in spring, it keeps me awake even if I darken the room. Just finished a chapter in Laila Ibrahim's novel Paper Wife in which two characters were parting, perhaps forever, and the elder has said to the younger

Every time I see the moon,
I shall send you a blessing,
knowing the same moon will
soon shine my blessing down upon you
All good I guess but Full Moon Madness is more what happens to me when I see the moon. Will have to sample rest of that album after I wear out that full moon track, thanks. Not usually a big fan of metal but I do make some exceptions..

Blue Oyster Cult: Don't Fear The Reaper.

Love their stuff, and that up here I can open the windows in summer and crank it right up and not hear that guy in Apt 3C in the building across the courtyard down in the city explain to me how to turn it back down again in fluent LongshoremanSpeak.

Tonight I am on a different path though, just zoning out after a long day of sewing with some U2 tracks I like but don't listen to very often - selections from The Unforgettable Fire album.

Blue Oyster Cult were popular in my undergrad days, and they bring back very specific thoughts and memories.

Not really a fan of U2, but, mainly for reasons other than their music.

'In The End' (2019)

This is the bands latest and last album. They, including Delores, recorded the vocals for the album in 2017 before she passed away. After her death, the band took several months off from production debating whether they should finish it or not. With O'Riordan's family's permission, they decided to complete it.

Here is a recent NPR story about it. https://www.npr.org/2019/04/23/7135...tes-the-new-beginning-dolores-o-riordan-wante

I pre-ordered the album and the CD ships starting tomorrow. But the place where I ordered the CD emailed me today with a link to download the MP3's, so I'm listening to it now. When I get the disc, I'll rip it in FLAC for the best audio experience.

So far, the first few songs I'm hearing are simply amazing.

I sometimes do struggle with the fact that musicians may have other interests (or behavioral flaws, or worse) quite aside from the skills that bring them their paychecks.

There are a few now whose works have been archived from my collections, after assorted adventures that came to my attention; I ended up not wanting to hear them sing or play for awhile. Maybe they'll come back to entertain me again, and maybe not. I sometimes haul out a few tracks from my backups, or try some later released material, but... so far I end up deleting the downloads. For me, my usual jazz explorations of Friday seem not quite the thing tonight, and not sure what I'm after instead. Something semi-tropical maybe... to distract from the incoming snowflakes over the weekend. Buena Vista Social Club is probably just the ticket! I have the album but also the movie so I think I'll re-watch that. Hope everyone else has a great weekend too.

Absolutely love the Buena Vista Social Club; I had the privilege of hearing them play live during a European tour in 2000.....therein lies a tale.
