Turn up the volume, get off your chair and dance LOL... Epic in the day and remains to be so.

Bowie is timeless.

Terrific choice.

I saw the first night of the tour in June 1974 in Montreal. Very theatrical with costumes and sets. After a couple of months this approach was dropped in favour of a stripped down show. A change of band included. Interesting read on Wiki.

I must give thanks to my now departed parents for allowing me at 15 years of age to travel into downtown Montreal to see many fabulous concerts at the Montreal Forum. What wonderful memories.

I came across this one thanks to the YouTube algorithm. It's a cover of Pink Floyd's Pigs (Three Different Ones) by Mark Davis. The Pink Floyd, by the way, is planning to release a deluxe addition this fall of the classic album Animals that will be remixed in high resolution stereo. It's been delayed for years because Roger Waters just can't seem to get along with anyone.

dang

Tried to upload a video from my phone from The Shins show Wednesday night... oh well. They were great !

A few pieces of Baroque music are keeping me company this Friday night, as August proceeds apace.

Chaconne, composed by Francois Le Cocq (1685-1729); and another Chaconne, this one composed by Robert de Visée (1655-1732/3).

And these were followed by Marionas - composed by Gaspar Sanz (1640-1710). And Jacanas, also courtesy of Gaspar Sanz.

Next, was Bergamasca, by Giovanni Battista Vitelli (1632-1692).

Lovely, just lovely.

Six years ago tonight The Tragically Hip played their last concert. For those who are not familiar with this great Canadian group, lead vocalist and lyricist Gord Downie had been diagnosed with a brain tumour a few months earlier. This video features 10 of their best songs and the second is a video of their last song from their last concert August 20, 2016. I recommend you explore their albums.

One of the most influential albums from the Quebec music scene. The first of three albums from the group Harmonium, the self-titled 1974 release. This was followed by the excellent album Cinq Saisons.

Note: One can fully enjoy this wonderful album without any knowledge of the French language.

Here is a 9 minute documentary on the band.
