Dammit, I can't get this song out of my head, and all because I happened to catch a Stevie Ray Vaughn/Johnny Copeland song earlier today. This came up as a suggestion, and after passing over it for a few years, I clicked on it. I don't know whether to laugh or cry because he actually got the entire audience to sing this, because it is musical genius, yet shows how how easy we as people can become comedic lemmings.

Anyway.. well.. I can't introduce this song, so you'll just have to take it raw. 🤣

John Coltrane Quartet - Crescent

This is a recording of a concert with the John Funkhouser Quartet last year at the Outpost, a music venue here in town (that I've also done countless performances and classes at). I know all these guys (and have played with them on numerous occasions). Nice going back and watching the video recording of it! We are so lucky to have such good musicians here, it's always a pleasure to play with them!

Listening to some harpsichord music.

F. Couperin - Le Gazouillement (lit. "The Twittering" [of birds])

I love this! I mean I'm not too into classical music, but this piece, while nice and short, sort of covers all the ground it needs to! This is a bit of a stretch, but I suppose I could compare this to that Swedish folk album I posted awhile back, in the sense of "intentional repetition" and the phrasing of the melody.

The Hold Steady - The Price of Progress

Personal opinion: I find the vocals sound muffled and buried too much in the mix on some tracks. I prefer Craig Finn's solo work.

Ever since I found out yesterday that Ryuichi Sakamoto had passed away, I've been listening to his greatest hits non-stop. While coding and sipping on a Heineken, his tunes have been a constant presence in my playlist. But today, it's hitting me extra hard and I'm feeling really down about it.
