• BMW 750Li - nice car all around. any bmw is quality and good all around cars (good all around, not the best all around)

• Land Rover Range Rover - they're nice as long as they work (the bmw engined land rovers were definately better)

• Jaguar XK convertible - "Smooth, fast, responsive, and posh" if your into that type of thing. its not a sports car, i dont know many that would throw down that kind of money for it. sure it looks nice but it doesnt have anything to back up its looks.

• Porsche Cayman S - great style, superb handling, could use a little more in the engine bay (its rumored they made it that way because it would be too much of a threat to the 911 if it were more powerful). if youve seen a caymen s with a carrera S engine sway youve seen the best "mainstream" porsche ever.

• Chrysler 300C - decade old mercedes with a piece of crap engine. if you want a car like that (medium size sedan) buy a 1998-2002 mercedes for the same price http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002...20QQihZ001QQcategoryZ6335QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem you will thank yourself later.

BMW 750Li- okay car all around. bmw makes OKAY cars. severely over-priced, horrible iDrive system, not as comfortable as others cars in class. Do yourself a favor and purchase a Lexus LS.

Land Rover Range Rover- fine SUV, one of the best in its price range, I'd drive one (that doesn't mean I'd buy one ;))

Porsche Cayman S-
I think the Cayman is Porsche's best car, because of it's price, handling, and looks.

Chrysler 300C- Chrysler makes some of the worst automobiles in the entire world, only the Yugoslavs could make a worse car. The 300C is as cheaply made as a Hummer, and with 20" wheels looks even more ridiculous. What I'm not going to do is encourage you to buy a Merc.
Here is your car.
Not much better then an Audi RS

PS:
The Jaguar is so over-priced and slow I'm not even going to talk about it ;)

750Li - Uh, big. iDrive is dangerous while driving (and I have used it since my last post, albeit in an X5)

Range Rover - Saw one driving down the highway with "LEMON Sold and serviced at *dealer's name not going to be printed*". I wonder if him driving like a tool at 80mph had anything to do with it?

XK Convertible - New or old? If new, I think the coupe looks better. But the XKR should be the one we're looking at. ;)

Cayman S - How long have people been wanting a hardtop mid-engine Porsche? Slap a few mods on the engine, and wave goodbye to that 911 in the rearview. Or, better yet, RUF CTR3 *drool*

300C - Road & Track liked it, except for the super-low front lip that got smacked a few times.

And a broken valve spring.

Chrysler 300C: welcome to your mercedes E of like ... 10 years ago

and mercedes being criticized for having too similar buttons across the models ?
at least you don't have to go on crusades to find a button like in other cars i've sat (Fiat ... i'm looking at you) and no matter in which mercedes you sit you sit you can find all the stuff in the same places
just like the infamous light switch which is already approaching quite a high birthday

sure it results in a not so fancy interior but not all cars have to be like Renault(best interior designers by far IMHO), especially if they _can't_ pull it off

edit: on BMW, they are gonna get the respect they had from me when their best looking car isn't the 1er or the 6er anymore

alright. im calling you out on this. bmw's are probably the best priced performance/luxury cars for what its offering. idrive is about as complicated as an ipod so if you dont get that... the new LS is nice. the newer LS will be nicer, but they dont offer the whole package that bmw does. simply but they dont perform like bmws; lexus' dont drive like bmws. i personally know a vp of toyota america, he plainly says that their goal is to build a more affordable (read: not equal) car.

yes. if price:comfort is the main function in choosing the car a lexus can crop up. but if performance:luxury is the main focus bmw outshines lexus.

First off, iDrive is horrible and MMI as well as Merc's interface are ten times better. Second, you give up some luxury in BMWs. Its just the general feeling, Lexus and Mercedes just feel better. Third, why do you feel the need to lie? Toyota no longer owns Lexus bro ;) So why don't you tell that to the "VP of Toyota America"
Also, off the line, many Lexus models are faster then BMWs (over the years)

Where'd you get that information? Toyota wants the #1 spot in auto-making, so why would they sell half their company? It makes no sense. Did I miss something?

Toyota owns about half of Daihatsu, about 1/4 of Subaru, Lexus and Scion. It was very late when I posted that I was meaning that the new LS is one of the first Lexus autos in a while that Toyota really let the Lexus team alone on.

That was just MY dream list! I've weighed my options (not that it matters!), and come to those conclusions...

I like the Mercedes E-Class - fine cars and a classic design. I've never driven one (only a C-Class and ML), but from people I know who own them, they enjoy 'em.

My mother is looking at 5-Series to replace her current car. She likes the design of the old style better, but finding a low-mile, clear, non abused 2003 or 04 model has been uber difficult.

...An alternative to the 5-Series is the Infiniti M45, a car I like very much.

first and foremost, lexus is a division of toyota, a wholly owned division. http://www.lexus.com/about/corporate/investor_relations.html do some research before you make stupid statements.

additionally many companies own portions of other companies. apple and microsoft own each other. gm owns some suburu. fuji heavy industries owns most of suburu. daimler owned a big stake of mitsubishi as of recently. it's business, lots of companies own stakes of other companies.

as i said if you cant use idrive youre just not getting it. mercedes has a horrible interface with their navigation.

you give up some luxury in a bmw for performance and handling. yes a lexus is smoother riding but how does that make it more luxurious?

"many lexus models are faster then (it should be than) bmw's (over the years)" which? when? now? and do i really care about a is250 vs. a 328i?

lets review the legitimately quick cars lexus has ever made...
done.

bmw...
m3 m5 m6 z8 mcoupe.

gm owns some suburu. fuji heavy industries owns most of suburu.

Actually, Subaru is the automotive division of FHI. GM sold 8.4% of their 20% to Toyota, ad sold the rest on the market.

As for Lexus, yes they're owned by Toyota, the self-parking is a gimmick, and why in the hell does the LS460 brake so very very poorly? It's the worst in R&T's road test summary for 60-0 (143 feet, best for production cars is 107 for the Lotus Exige, Ferrari F430, Porsche Boxster S, and M-B SLR McLaren), and it's 5 feet off from being the worst in 80-0 (251 feet. Prius is 256, best is 184 for the 911 Carrera S Coupe. Also notably bad are the Lincoln MKZ AWD at 141/249 and the Escape Hybrid at 141/250). The LS600h weighs just a bit over 600lbs more (4492 v 5115), but comes in at 120/216, which is pretty damn good for a 2.5 ton car.

Toyota owns about half of Daihatsu, about 1/4 of Subaru, Lexus and Scion. It was very late when I posted that I was meaning that the new LS is one of the first Lexus autos in a while that Toyota really let the Lexus team alone on.

Where the hell do you get your info? Toyota owns ALL of Daihatsu, the previously-mentioned 8.4% of FHI, Lexus is a division of Toyota, and Scion is a brand (that means they're both COMPLETELY OWNED by Toyota).

I've always felt japanese cars are not ergonomically right. Maybe thats because I am 6ft tall, and to put it bluntly most asians are not that tall. The floors always seem too high, the steering wheels too far pressed into the dashboard, and the controls just not in the right places. Maybe its just me though.

The ergonomic problem in my car is that the seat does not go far back enough. I have it all the way back and I am basically driving as if I am sitting in a dining room chair with my knees bent. You get you used to it, its just not the typical driving position.

i forgot about gm's sell off.
i said fuji owns most of suburu meaning as a subsidiary, but parts have been sold.

Anyone see the 2008 Highlander
bilde

It reminds me too much of a Subaru Forester for some reason. I think its the grill, general shape, and my soccer coach has one in the same color as the highlander in the pic above.

Read my other post before you correct me on the lexus thing :)

I'm not going to dive into the whole car thing,

BUT

OH MY GOD. MICROSOFT does not *#*#&#*@ own Apple! At the time of Apple's bankruptcy, Microsoft invested $150 million in Apple. First off, those shares were non-controlling and secondly 10 years later Microsoft sold their stocks. do some research before you make stupid statements.

i was using the microsoft/apple stock deal and it as an example of businesses owning portions of competitors. as was previously pointed out im not up to date on all business transactions.

i still see no way that that has any bearing on toyota/lexus. you said
"Third, why do you feel the need to lie? Toyota no longer owns Lexus bro So why don't you tell that to the "VP of Toyota America" "

first i said a vp. there are many.

second i dont see how rereading this in any way clarifies what you said any further than you claimed that toyota doesnt own lexus (but they do).

I often ponder the idea of what mega-nice automobiles I would own should I have the money... And I ultimately come to these conclusions:

• BMW 750Li - Trademark classic of big highway luxury. Smooth, rocket-like. Gizmos galore. Still an attractive car design wise IMHO. Nothing beats the power of a massive V8. I've driven 7 Series before, and it's nothing short of driving a land-bound spacecraft.

• Land Rover Range Rover - My aunt owns one of these. The design is superb, and they are extremely capable vehicles.

• Jaguar XK convertible - My aunt also has one of these (same aunt who owns the Rover). I drove this car last month, and it's mind-blowing. Smooth, fast, responsive, and posh, it emits a glow of class like nothing I've seen in a long while. It's an Aston Martin for $100,000 less. The new style is so, so much better than the old design too.

• Porsche Cayman S - Beats it's big brother in most areas, and personally, I think it's better looking.

• Chrysler 300C - For the price, you're hard pressed to find anything else as good (assuming you like the design). I will get a 300C once I'm out of high school and can swing the payments.

So that's my general dream garage... Thankfully, in my extended family, I know people who own all of these, so I can get a taste of them in the meantime!

I had a 2001 750IL man that was a nice car. I have yet to drive the new V12 BMW,though.
