Mercury or Maserati? Hmmmm... ok im wrong about the roads but the mercury enforces my point. it looks korean (hyundai) for goodnesss sake.. The murcury is ugly and dull.

i didnt post a picture of it because i was trying to prove that american cars are good. i was more mocking both.

Oh, Ok. But it the maserati is sooo nice. I think the maserti and jaguar bashing needs to be towned down. I will then stop mocking american cars.

I dont know what u drive but i assume it must be a ford taurus or something awful like that. Passion has nothing to do with how good the car actullay is. Look at the delorean, it was awful, but there was something about it, and it still turns heads today. It was awesome. we used to have a 5 series which DID have idrive and i loved it. And we have owned three Jaguar XJ's since 1999 and had only minor probelms with each, The new model 2003- XJ was beutiful and was apprecited in England because us english know a thing or two aboout cars. American cars probably never break down (which is a shame), because they use technology from the medivel times, eg LEAF SPRINGS. I mean its 2007 and they use leaf springs, eg corvette. American cars are so dull and unimaginative. Have u ever been in a chrsler neon.. Oh my goodness. Its shocking.
Maybe if u were a half decent driver which u probabaly arnt because all american roads are straight then maybe you could drive the maserati properly. James May and J Clarkson loved the maserati, apart from the gearbox, and i think they know more about cars then you do fool. I maybe 17 but im not an arse. And I am taking driving lessons.
First of all Einstein, it is spelled Chrysler.
Second, I drive a 2002 M5
Third, you do not drive and have no understanding of the subject you are preaching.

And no most american roads are not straight. Interstate highways are because they are for highspeed travel.

Ever been to Santa Fe? Obviously not, because if you had you would have realized what the world outside your arse hole looked like.

And go look up the word "passion" child.

And to add one more thing, Ford owns and controls Jaguar.
Whats that? Ford is American? Who knew:rolleyes:

Looking at a map of american roads and cities clearly shows mostly straight roads.

let's play the generalization game! should we start with what we think of people from kent by reading your posts? :D

I will then stop mocking american cars.

okay, american cars may not be the greatest. but reread the thread tittle again and tell me why you keep on bashing american cars? if you hate american cars so much, why in the world are you using an american car designer's name as your MR SN? mind you without Ford, your family might not have been able to buy those two little precious jags that you like to brag so much. we'll see if you could still buy a jag for yourself after the taurus-maker ditches the cat. :D

i think i'm gonna tell SJ to get a more interesting car via the feedback form on apple.com. :D

German Magazine Focus is reporting (Google translation) that Apple is working on car navigation and sound systems. Apple is said to be working for an introduction in 2009, working with Mercedes exclusively for 6 months.

The system is reported to include "maintenance, communication, and navigation," similar to devices already on the market.

Focus is a popular German magazine, though its track record in Apple rumors remains unproven.
Maybe they'll give Steve a few more cars. :)

dont you think steve has more than one car? i think his utilitarian car is the merc amg, but im sure he has other rides in his stable that he breaks out for special occasions. he probably has a ducati motorbike to go with his dungarees and mock turtleneck. and he definitely has an amg s-class, or maybe even a maybach, for those family events. i wouldnt be surprised if he bought a bugatti veyron on an impulse buy.

Ok, first off, that is a Buick, not a Mercury.

Second, have you actually ever driven a car.

Third, do you realize that being a british TV show, Top Gear is european biased

Fourth, I would rather have my BMW made in the US then some cars built in mexico by poor overworked peasents.

Fifth, I will admit many american cars suck, thats because they are built to be inexpensive to build so that the companies can make maximum profit, its called capitalism if you haven't heard of it. If every car was built like a jaguar no one could afford one and/or the company wouldn't be making any money- oh wait last time I checked Jaguar and Land Rover are doing horribly. Hmm.... what happened to Triumph and MG Rover? (though I do love my british cars ;)) And without Ford Jaguar would be even more dead then they already are.

Sixth you are completely ignorant and freaking re****ed for saying that most American Roads are straight and flat. Honestly, are you kidding me? Do you realize that there are 2 major mountain ranges that are in America??? If you didn't realize most people don't live in the flat desert here. If you honestly think all of our roads are straight and flat, then you have a seriously distorted perception of reality. Yes, many of our cities are built on grid formations and our highways are generally straight, but thats a very small percentage of roads.

Seriously you are completely out of line. I don't understand you.

...so how about that new 280 horsepower, 295 ft/lb AWD (excuse me, XWD) Saab 9-3 that was unveiled last weekend?

:D :D :D

Well someone in this thread said that Steve also owns an E class MB and a Volvo Station Wagon (don't remember the years but a couple of years old for both)...

So if you were the man himself what would you drive (to those that drive Acuras and Lexus, pretend for a second you were cool- :D )

And yes American cars suck, but the Leaf Spring comment on the corvette was made by Jeremy Clarkson when they tested the C6 Corvette on top Gear. It sounds retro but when you look at why is that is actually a really clever solution that saves a lot of weight in the car, and have you actually seen the piece is a composite extension that barely looks like a leaf spring, and may remind you that old American crap kicks the butt of Aston Martin in endurance racing, just check the results of the 24 hours of LeMans for the last 6 years, then we'll talk...

To be fair, its Jaguar who are the problem, Land Rover are actually returning a nice profit, its just that Ford cant flog Jaguar without Land Rover.

I wouldn't gloat too much over the failure of the British motor industry either. GM, Ford or Chrysler could have a slow MG Rover style death.

We can still design cars- just look at Lotus, TVR or the MG Tf. We just cant run car factories.

Lets stop bitching anyways - its great that European and American driving cultures are so different. Only an American could design the Knight Rider car!

God those pontiacs are quite possibly the dorkiest loser wanna be corvette sports cars EVER.

Erm, isn't TVR dead now?

But we do have:
Noble
Aerial
Project Kimber
Caterham
Westfield
Bristol
Marcos

Plus several others I can't remember.

EDIT: Aston Martin is British again, of course!

And Morgan

OMGWTF is this thread about?

teh steve™ drives a boring car. whoopee doo. He's kind of a boring, petty and arrogant man and I don't give a monkey's.

and one more thing: boom.

and lets get this man a prize for winning the trivia challenge.

but what geese said is spot on. brits actually design beautiful cars, the only problem is they are extremely intricate (i did not say complex). no matter where you are that is tough to produce on large scales, which is why car design and manufacturing in england is a cottage industry. if you dont believe me look at the some of the cars geese mentioned (or where the f1 teams are).

it is a 55, check the v8 badge...

at any rate, steve is a total jerk. he didn't pay child support to lisa for years and has a horrible attitude. he's got good products, but personall, bill gates is 10000x better of a person. look at all his charity foundations.

^^^Haha, yeah, Billy's charity work that he's quite pressured into doing from family, friends, colleagues.

But yes, Bill is likely a better person than Steve. I like Steve's products, but I'd likely rather be friends with Bill, or at least be an acquaintance.

didn't you see the movie Antitrust? bill gates is a scheming murderous kingpin who wouldnt hesitate to 'off' someone if it would benefit Microsoft.

if you think Bill's philanthropy is solely a result of third party pressures, you've got another thing coming. The amount of money and TIME he devotes is unprecedented... sorry Warren. Unlike Buffet, Bill doesn't just dedicate his money (which would be a sign of non-commitment) he devotes much of his time an energy. Steve on the other hand is too busy making fun of Microsoft, parking in handicapped spots, and back-dating stocks.

Who's friend would I rather be? Bills. Unless I was good enough friends with Steve to where he'd give me an iPhone early. Then my response would change. :p

Totally agree. Well said. Petty, boring, arrogant: Steve.

I love Apple... not Steve.

Although schiller and ive seem like some nice people :) (esp. phil!)

I honestly do not understand how America having more straight roads then the UK is a bad thing. Straight roads decrease travel time, increase travel effectiveness, increase safety, help relieve traffic congestion, are easier to build and maintain, and provide an overall more efficient driving experience. On a day to day basis, getting from point A --to--> B shouldn't have to include 30 curves, and winding mountain roads that would mean the death of in pre-occupied or intoxicated driver. If you want winding roads, drive to some- there are PLENTY in the America (we are a little bit bigger then the UK you know ;)).

On another note, just because the Germans are sitting over in Europe making FANTASTIC cars (for the most part) don't think that just because you're English, YOU can take credit for them. YOUR people DIDN'T make them- the Germans did.

I often ponder the idea of what mega-nice automobiles I would own should I have the money... And I ultimately come to these conclusions:

• BMW 750Li - Trademark classic of big highway luxury. Smooth, rocket-like. Gizmos galore. Still an attractive car design wise IMHO. Nothing beats the power of a massive V8. I've driven 7 Series before, and it's nothing short of driving a land-bound spacecraft.

• Land Rover Range Rover - My aunt owns one of these. The design is superb, and they are extremely capable vehicles.

• Jaguar XK convertible - My aunt also has one of these (same aunt who owns the Rover). I drove this car last month, and it's mind-blowing. Smooth, fast, responsive, and posh, it emits a glow of class like nothing I've seen in a long while. It's an Aston Martin for $100,000 less. The new style is so, so much better than the old design too.

• Porsche Cayman S - Beats it's big brother in most areas, and personally, I think it's better looking.

• Chrysler 300C - For the price, you're hard pressed to find anything else as good (assuming you like the design). I will get a 300C once I'm out of high school and can swing the payments.

So that's my general dream garage... Thankfully, in my extended family, I know people who own all of these, so I can get a taste of them in the meantime!
