Picked up a product red apple silicone case for my iPad Pro today from the Apple Store, put on my Air 2 for now as Pro won't come until tomorrow or Monday

I had the Logiye
Bummed out about the lack of 9.7" pro cases. I want to start using my pro but it's gonna be weird not having a keyboard since I use mine all the time on the Air.
I'm guessing that you didn't get the Apple keyboard. I got it and actually am very pleased with it. It has a nice typing feel to it. The only down side is lack of function keys.

So how you guys doing with the cases. Seems like all of them are crap or simply Air 2 rebranded. The one I ordered (purple, in page 1 of the topic) got terrible reviews already, saying it doesn't align (speakers) and the cover doesn't have a magnet.
Guess crossing my fingers for the golden one to work then.
Checked Amazon, saw other cases, same thing, terrible reviews for all of them few.

I'm looking into the STMBags Atlas as a replacement for the Devicewear...

I'd rather have the PU leather, but the form factor trumps that for me.

Sorry to highjack your post but I would also like to add that the keys are pretty cramped up and takes a little getting used to type with 10 fingers. Also, the keys are pretty close to the ipad, sometimes I will accidentally touch the ipad while reaching for the TOP row keys especially the delete key...

Yeah I probably won't get the apple Smart Keyboard until I play around with it just because I've heard mixed reviews on it and it's expensive.

It does take a bit of getting used to. It is more cramped than my prior Logitech but didn't take me long to get used to it.

It is expensive for sure. But so is everything Apple. I was totally happy with my thin Logitech keyboard cover but it doesn't snap in and magnetically hold the new iPad. I use my iPad a lot in work and make good use of my keyboard.

Those who have the Apple siilcone case.. how were you able to justify the $69 price tag?

There are a lot of cases so far that tout being Pro 9.7 compatible, but the smart function only works with the Air 2. Best Buys Modal Reversible and Targus 3D are also both culprits I this regard.

Seems the vendors retooled some inventory, but did not bother with adding magnet placement for Pro smart function. Probably too costly, so trying the lame path to exhaust inventory.

And that's also another thing. Speck makes good cases, but they did not bother to even make the proper cutouts for the new case.. I'm starting to think it's not a bad deal to get an apple case with the proper cutouts.

I'm liking that. Since my Moko case sucks, I think I'll order the JETech. Did they mention anything about availability?
April 7 ship but it might be sooner. I will post pics when I get it. Find their online store on Ebay I think you can save a little $$ vs their site.

It's a struggle finding a good case for it.. in a way wish I would've waited to get my Pro when more cases came out.. but it's whatever. I'm using a cheap one now in the meantime until something releases soon.
[doublepost=1459698780][/doublepost]What do you guys think of this combined with smart cover?

Seems so bad there should be a sticky thread calling out cases that actually do have smart function for the Pro 9.7. All non Apple branded encountered so far do not have proper magnet placement, so do not work. Surprised Best Buy as example are letting vendors get away with this. Perhaps they are not aware, but mass returns should give them an idea. Non Apple brand cases are a big money maker for them and not the iPad itself. The iPad makes their revenue line look good, but not their profit margin.

I think at this point we kind of have no choice but to get the Apple cases if we want the proper cut outs.

The Modal Reversible and the Targus 3D at Best Buy have the cutouts, but not the magnet placement for smart function. My guess is there will be thousands of returns due to vendors poor decisions in repurposing Air 2 inventory.

The Modal as example has all cutouts to cover the Air and Pro. Targus took the gimmick route with no speaker cutouts and pipe it to the front for "enhanced" sound.

The catch is neither has the correct magnet placement, just like (all?) the current options on Amazon and eBay so far.

It is more difficult taking glued or stitched seems out to add or reposition magnets. The labor (even lower cost) would cost more than the actual material and that presumes the material can withstand the rework process.

Vendors are trying to go the cheap route to reduce SKUs and bleed current inventory. Hopefully a mass of retail returns will force vendors to change their strategy and tactics.

Added: Catch is that would take a few months to correct.

I'm currently using a Belkin Qode Ultimate Pro Air 2 case on my 9.7 iPad Pro. This is my first day with it and I'll point out some things.
  1. The hard shell of the case fits snugly on the iPad and if you didn't know better then you would think that it was made for the iPP.
  2. The case doesn't have any issues with the camera placement or the camera bump, but the flash is completely covered. The microphone is not though.
  3. The top speakers on the iPad are also covered by plastic, which muffles the sound out of those speakers, but it isn't "horrible".
  4. There is a cut out on the left side where the Smart Connecter is, which is also where the magnets are.
  5. Apple switched the polarity of the magnets or their positition, which makes the iPad not sit as securely in landscape mode as it should. If you flip the iPad to portrait (yes you can do that with this keyboard case and it is great!) then the iPad is very strongly attached. This is because there are another set of magnets in the actual plastic case that have the correct orientation and placement.
  6. The keyboard is awesome and in my opinion it is better for typing than the Apple Smart Keyboard, but that's all preference.
  7. There aren't any problems with the keyboard Bluetooth connecting or activating even though the magnets between the keyboard and the pro aren't perfectly aligned. I've typed this whole thing on the keyboard and it was a breeze.
Just thought I'd throw this out there for anyone that is looking at getting this or a similar case because you, like I, didn't want to wait for an actual iPP keyboard case.

I spotted this one earlier and may give it a try as it'll fit with the Smart Keyboard. Although, I plan to wait until it's available again because it doesn't currently look like it's designed for the Pro.

I'm really loving the official Apple case and cover. I swore I wouldn't buy it but after finding no soft edge solutions yet and since a hard shell generic case ate the corners off one of my older generation iPads, I bit the bullet and got the Apple set. Honestly, the product is amazing. It's butter smooth and feels great in the hand. I think it's actually higher quality than the leather smart case from the Air 1 (although I do wish it were one piece rather than two). The price is still outrageous but I think $59-79 would be very reasonable for this set.

One gripe about the Apple set though...the colors online look so rich but the actual items are a different color completely. I had the pink, which is a nice bubblegum pink online but in person it is a washed out fleshy pink. I returned it in exchange for the royal blue, which online looks like a periwinkle/purple blue but again in person it's more of just a light cool shaded blue. The mint and orange are also much more washed out in person than as advertised. Just a word of encouragement for folks to buy these in store to see the true color rather than ordering sight unseen.
