Various custom PC Desktops before I went exclusively laptop, then:

Toshiba Satellite LD450
Compaq Presario CQ71

and then I saw the light:

MBP i5 15" 320gb (And it very much is beloved!:D)

If I was forced at gunpoint to buy another WinPC it would be Lenevo no doubt.

+1 on the thinkpads! loved thinkpads before IBM sold them over to Lenovo

I had an old Thinkpad T30 that thing was a champ, dropped it on more than one occasion and it still (to this day) runs perfectly fine. but after the thinkpad i picked up an 07 macbook.

had a love hate relationship with that thing, lol i couldn't stand the fans revving up to 6k just so i could watch a friggin youtube video. had the worst on board graphics chip in the world. So i finally bit the bullet 2.5 years later and picked up my 2010 mbp 2.4 ghz 15 inch, and it's been okay so far.

I used to have, well, still have one of my pre-MBP computers. It's a Dell Latitude D620. Slow, not too big, but it's built like a tank. I just lost my grip on it this morning while carrying it, and it dropped onto the tile floor, 3 feet below. Was a little worried, but started it up perfectly, no screen damage, ran a HD test, not a single error. If you ever have to buy a cheap PC, I'd suggest one of those..they sell for only around $200-300, and they can run OS X.

I had a Lenovo Thinkpad T61. Really liked it at first, but it did not last very long. Completely died after just over two years and was going to cost way more than the value of the computer to fix.

Dell XPS M1530 running Windows 7. Unfortunately, my new 15" MacBook Pro is quite a bit slower than my Dell was. Can't quite figure out why. Had the Core 2 Duo in the Dell and 3GB of ram (have the i5 and 4gb in the MacBook Pro). The only other difference is the hard drive - 7200 rpm in my Dell, 5400 in my MacBook Pro. I can't imagine the hard drive would make that much of a difference, but I guess it's possible.

Ooh..the first computer my parents had in the family home was an Amstrad CPC6128, I think, from the local paper in 1996 or so. I used to play with the turtle program, write stories and print letters, and load games from the tape deck.

Then we had a PII bought from a friend of my uncles, who overcharged us and could not be found when it broke. After that we had a variety of pentiums. A neighbour gave us an old Tecra which we used for a while- it's sturdy.

MY first computer was a secondhand PC which I bought with my student loan for £300 the weekend before I started uni in 2003. I wanted a 'Snow iBook' as my diary recalls! It had a 1GHz processor and a glossy LG flatron 17" screen, which was marvellous compared to our old 233 with fuzzy 14" monitor. It eventually broke (I did fiddle a lot inside the case) and I had something built by a local repairman in the most god-awful case which I loved at the time- it was a faux microsuede- feel black tower with blue strip LCDs which lit up whenever it was on.

Then I received another PC, a Medion, as part of my disabled students allowance. I played the Sims a lot. While I was at uni my parents got a Dell something (XPS 5700) I think, a desktop, which ran circles round the 233! It is now slow as molasses and sounds like a plane taking off. Eventually I tried to sell my Medion and I think I ended up giving it away on freecycle to some very happy family, after an ebay bidder won it for £80, then came to my house and offered me £20.

In 2007 after my first proper job started I bought my first mac- a white Macbook. The dvd drive broke and I had a replacement, then the casing cracked so I returned it and bought a 15" original Macbook pro, which was by far my favourite. I had a 23" ACD I used to use with it which was intended for graphics work but I've never managed to scrape up the money for a decent camera. Eventually after too much tinkering the MBP died and I sold it along with the ACD, and bought a 12" iBook for basic internet use. I ALWAYS wanted one but I think my teenage-hood illusion was ruined when I tried to go on youtube! I loved the size though, but found the screen very dim for my needs. I tripped over the cable and had to replace the DC-in board. Then I started my current job (graphic design/admin/basic IT stuff for a small office) and my boss kindly split the cost of a unibody 13" MBP with me. I lent the iBook to my ex but then the dvd drive so he's using it for basic internet surfing with an external drive.

So now I have a 13" MBP- I like having a backlit keyboard again, but I'm not sure how I feel about the thick black bezel around the screen. It's a good size for me as I move between floors at work to show things to people, and around the house. I still hanker for the PPCs and would love a 12" PowerBook.

I started with a 20" 2.4 C2D iMac in 2007
Went to a 15" 2.5 C2D MacBook Pro in 2008
And now I'm using a 15" 2.53 i5 MacBook Pro

Laptops I've had before my MBP:

- ASUS eee 901
- MSI GX630x
- ASUS eee 1005ha

I had a 14" Ibook G4...gee I loved that thing. It was my first laptop. It held up pretty nicely for 6 years, then I sold it to help get a macbook pro. Looking back, I kinda miss it...

I owned one of the first generation MacBook Pros. My last PC was an HP DV8000 series..talk about huge. The thing weighed over 8lbs!

Oh my...let me see if I can remember all of them:

In order, newest to oldest:

-Mac Pro

-Macbook Pro unibody + Asus eeePC 10 inch + Asus eeePC 9 inch (10 replaced it)

-Macbook Pro regular + Asus eeePC 7 inch

-HP DV4000 (I think, it had a swirly design on it) Horrible machine.

-Sony Vaio (not sure which model, great at first, crap after a year).

-HP DV1000 (excellent machine)

-Sony Vaio (not sure which model, it was purple, again great at first, crap after a year).

-Dell something desktop. It lasted a very long time and was pretty good. I think I got the last run of decent dells.

-Gateway Desktop. It was ok, ran windows 98 lol. It was my first computer ever so I LOVED it. 4gb hard drive, Pentium 3 processor and 16 mb of ram! (It was actually low end for its time : / )

This list is just the ones I consider mine and doesn't take into account all the other machines I've purchased for people or hobby machines I acquired or built.

EDIT: Oh yea...I had some super old Windows 3.1 machine but it was so outdated for its time all you could do on it was use paint or write a paper, and before that my parents had a Leading Edge IBM compatible machine that only had a yellow screen, and it was so old that you really couldn't do anything with it either except play games like "Beast" where you chased an H around screen as well as rippoffs of Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man (even though they had the same exact name too lol).

Been using my MBP 15" i5 for about two month now. I came from a:

DELL XPS 1530 C2D 1.6ghz machine, used since 2007. It has been a major upgrade for me. :)

Coming from an 2.0GHz Aluminum Macbook the late 2008 model man that was a great computer but it was time to upgrade

Late 2007 2,2 white MacBook, great machine, except for the cracking thing, but apple repaired it... Before my life on mac I had a Compaq F500 laptop, but the main board fried after 10 months of use, and Compaq didn't repaired it...

Toshiba satellite L305D-S5895 (Memorized that? Yes.)

Cost me $500 bucks, I was 13 and knew very little about computers.

15" Hi-Res PB G4 1.67ghz with the biggest HDD it could handle and 2gb RAM.
That was a great laptop. But the battery capacity was going downhill and the CCFL backlight was at like 60% of its original brightness by the time I decided to order my Santa Rosa MBP.
