Boarding school isn't bad...it's a totally surreal world though...life is much different there than for kids at public school. Really there are many valuable life lessons you can learn by having to tough it out yourself...for example, no parents to tell you not to pull all nighters, you figure out yourself why you should avoid them after the first one... :p

Honestly I think the independence factor is really important...too many kids these days are living at home with their parents watching their every move and controlling every bit of their lives, whereas at boarding school you have to sort of figure things out for yourself, and when you can't figure them out, you try harder. :)

Hmmm I almost prefer it once you turn 18 to figure that out on your own. Untll you're 18 it's your parent's job to watch over you. Once you go to college, you get the independence and the consequences of that indepedence.
As for me, I am currently a senior in mechanical engineering with a year to go due to some minors I got goin along.

Oh i forgot to add that I would like to be a NBA player or play golf for a living where you can make over 10million a year by having fun. Can you belive that Owens suspension is costing him over 200k per game. Most people can't make that amount in 4 years with over 40 + hr weeks. It's pretty pathetic in my opinon where we get some NBA player aka Sprewell saying he needs a bigger contract since he needs to feed his family. I suppose it would be hard to feed a family with say 8 million a year. jeeze yea thats my mini rant on how our world values its entertainment, if only I could be a part of it lol.

I work for a Software company producing enterprise level cheaper alternatives to DataBases; i.e. Being able to query flat files containing Billions of indexed records, such as log files or historic data, via any OBDC connection.

We're a small company so I am System Administrator, System Tester, Support and anything else that's needed.

Having worked in various IT jobs for the last few years I'd like to do something that involves being outside..... even with the UK weather!

I love Shrek! That game looks awesome! Can I be donkey?!?! I wish I had that game right here, right now, I'd game all over it!

I'm about to graduate from college...had been planning on graduate school always, but decided I'd like a real software job instead. Just interviewing right now, though I did find out last night I got second round interviews with Microsoft, hehe. Even though I somehow managed to mention macrumors.com in my first interview. :p

I'm a recent college grad and I was just hired as a consultant at the #1 data warehousing firm in the US. Can't wait to start -- training begins after the holidays.

In college I had some miserably boring jobs, though...

I'm a librarian with years of experience in public libraries and health science libraries, but am now more-or-less retired and working just very part-time in the local public library. This gives me plenty of time for pursuing my other interests such as photography and computers! :)

I'm an Electrical Engineer who works for a big company that makes stuff for the man. I work on project after project. I also just got awarded my first patent in August.

I worked as a doctor in Bombay, India.. but dabbled in music production as well. Now that I'm here..I have my own little business (can't practice medicine until i get a license.. heck i ain't studying any more!) I feel like I'm unemployed

Oops.. forgot to add, that I wish I could be a music producer, I was in india.. but hopefully soon.. out here *grin*

Chemical Technician

The company I work for manufactures adhesive.

Adhesive is for peel and stick labels, postage stamps, masking tape, concrete additives, Bud Lite clear labels.

Make many more types, but they are the major ones. Nice thing about it is, we only produce the adhesive. Only division within the company that makes these particular adhesives.

Go to law school, graduate in May. Currently, I work for the government, but I will lose my job on graduation day. Since I don't have an offer lined up yet, I will probably be unemployed while my wife does her IT thing and makes money.

It's a bit depressing not having a job lined up, and feeling outclassed by friends and classmates. But, I figure worst case, I'll eventually find something. What I'd really like to do is either become an operations officer for the CIA or teach third grade (they're old enough not to pee their pants but haven't become obnoxious pubecents).

I'm a Windows developer   (Windows the platform, not the OS itself thank god). Hopefully, by this time next year I'll be running my own (small) business:cool:

I´m a Director of Photography. I do all kinds of things; Film, documentary, commercials, music video and TV stuff.
I love my job.
I do wish I could do more film work and less TV.
At the moment I´m working an a arthaus film, great project, shooting on 35mm. It takes me all over Europe to very interesting locations.

I'm a Sign Language Artist.

Means I create stuff that relates to or incorporates BSL (British Sign Language).

Have made a few movies, one is in the British Library, another was shown at Tate Modern tho it didnt have any BSL in it(!), created a few live BSL performances including one at the ICA.

Last year, I wrote a play in BSL about deaf stuff: 'Children of a Greater God.' It ran at the theatre for a couple of weeks. Am now working on learning the Forum style of theatre.

Just finished directing another BSL play, and returned from teaching Deaf activism to a bunch of international deaf people in Denmark.

It's all lovely stuff, but very low paid - most of you probably earn more money than me.

About one day a week, I work as Tech Officer for a small deaf theatre company, which I've converted to an all Mac company.

When I'm not doing that, I'm Mr Mummy for my 10 month old daughter, also Deaf, who now knows around a dozen signs and seems to learn a new one every few days. Today, she signed 'ball' for the first time.

Aah :)

cheers

"I'm Laurence Anderson, and I'm a student."

(Format taken from the "Switch" ads ;)).

(Also, an ex dishwasher, and that job sucked major A$$!).

High school student is of course my primary "job" right now.

But to earn money, in the summer I cut lawns (with a tractor, usually $25 a week per lawn), fall I do leaf cleanup with my uncle, in the winter I plow driveways in the neighborhood (also with the tractor), and also do snow removal with my uncle. And I also have work at a construction company splitting firewood that we sell off to local resellers. On top of all that, I detail cars (it gives me a way to keep my OCD useful) and clean my grandmothers house every week. In all, it comes out to be more that what I'd make if I actually had a set job, and I can work when I want.

I forgot to mention that I take any computer work where I can find it. At the construction company where I work, I manage their computers (all Macs, that I myself purchased for them, and set up).
