My updated speed :)

See, i told you that it is better than the last speed test :p

Getting this for about £19 a month but we have been with BT for years and years. That is the unlimited bandwidth tariff (at least I have never hit a limit and I've downloaded near 200GB in one month before).

Edit : I've been very tempted to switch to Be 24Mb Unlimited though for about £18. Just such a hassle to change e-mail addresses.

Just did a test.

Not bad for $26 bucks a month. :)

For about $20 more per month, I could up to 5x-10x the speed. However, for me, what I have is enough for my current needs. Plus I get to save a few $ for something else.

We pay $25 for AT&T 3.0 down / 512 up because we locked in for a few years before the price went up to $30. It's much too slow though, and not too reliable. Sometimes my iPhone on EDGE is faster than it!

Yup, $25 for AT&T DSL 3.0, also got in under the wire, kinda' what I expected for $14.99 in the beginning. First screenshot is Wired, and second screenshot is wireless on my MBA. No surprises, no thrills, but I had AT&T Hotspots before most of my friends... LOL

It's through AT&T and it's Internet and TV delivered through what's basically DSL on steroids.

well they do have to have fiber installed for it.

They just got our neighborhood done in October and came door to door to sell us on it. Actually came back twice because my wife usually lets me make the internet/cable decisions.

We pay $30/month for 10 Mpbs down and 1.5 Mbps up, we have U300 (due to discount packages) and changed our home phone to get unlimited long distance. Once all the prorating and cancellations are past we should be paying about the same as we were before for AT&T DSL (3 Mbps/768 kbps) DirecTV, phone and wireless, for more DVR functionality, faster internet, and unlimited long distance on the land line. We'll most likely move back to U200 once the promotions expire but for now we'll take what we can get.

Tis quite nice and the total home DVR allowing us to watch different (or the same) shows starting in different rooms at different times is quite nice, especially when we want to just climb into bed and watch something we have recorded, used to either copy it to a DVD or pick a movie to watch if we were tired and just wanted a quick show before bed.

I will miss Sunday Ticket though but since we've switched every Packer game has been on a local channel (or I've been in WI). This week is the first weekend where I either have to miss it, go to the bar, or spend $20 to watch it on NFL.com's streaming service.

One meg down, 320k up. Unlimited. $80 a month bundle includes phone. It's the only provider available in this part of AK so they get to charge what they want.

I don't think I'll look at this thread anymore. It makes me cry.

True. With rare exceptions, it's fiber to the node (which is the box all of the phone lines in a neighborhood connect to) and then copper from the node to your house. Typically the only time they do fiber to the home is in new neighborhoods.

I just got U-Verse installed yesterday and I love it. U400 with the 10 mbps internet package. We're slightly too far away from the VRAD, so we can only get 1 HD channel at a time which sucks, but we'll make do. I'm not even going to post how much we're paying because I work for AT&T and get an employee discount, so it's not like the rate is applicable to anyone else. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than cable though :p

I'm paying $39.95 for 15 Mbps up/down, but I get close to 38 Mbps upload speeds. FYI, not Verizon, but it is FIOS.

Wow-where are you in Utah? I live in SLC and I'm using comcast and the speed just isn't what it should be for the $50/month I'm paying.

I was considering looking into Qwest...What ISP are you getting those speeds from???

usually about 4000yen a month for bi-directional uncapped 120meg fibre :D
had the first six months for free cause Asahi‘s hikarione was on offer!

now everything in the UK is crap, only as fast as a snail!!
and there's bandwidth throttling
personally I'd wanna throttling the provider

Sign me up! :D

The state of broadband in the U.S. (and, from reading this thread, some other countries as well) is pretty sad. Here's hoping we get our infrastructure upgraded next decade.

I take it customer service is better over by you as well? ;)
Believe me, quite a few people here would like to 'throttle' their provider out the window!

We're on BT's unlimited package for which we pay £24.46 per month for the pleasure. Like Cromulent said in his earlier reply we've been with BT for years but I think that once the current contract is up we'll be moving to Sky; for not that much more we can have a package that includes telephone, broadband and TV.

Anyway, here are the stats:

I don't think the DL speed is too bad but the UL speed leaves a lot to be desired.
