I use to be on the same boat as everyone here - "LV?? Ew, everyone has that, it's overplayed, etc." I do agree with it, but it wasn't until I was actually in a Louis Vuitton store that I started to realize why people buy them. The quality of the product, the feel, touch... It was just luxurious.

Not "everyone." I didn't say any of those things. I just don't think it is attractive. I've never cared for LV anyway... I'm a Coach gal, although not the logo print. My fav Coach purse is a beautiful, simple true red... I've had it at least 20 years!

I don't like logo stuff, so no.

I bought this for my iPad, in marigold, and this for my iPad 2, in purple. The company is American-owned and they make everything by hand. Their stuff is gorgeous, extremely well made, and very protective... I like this case better than anything I've seen elsewhere.

Also bought cases from them for all of my Kindle versions - and two checkbook covers too! :D
American owned with no illegal immigrants? If they were based in AL, that would be a guarantee, but they're based in CA.

Pretty nasty comment. They are a small, family run company.

As big as CA is, I imagine there are maybe 1 or 2 employers who abide by the law. And by the way, there are plenty of illegal immigrants in just about every state, including AL.

To the person who mentioned Vaja: yes, wonderful iPhone case (I have one that I am still using, actually) -- Never got around to exploring their options for the iPad...probably I should. Beautiful, good quality materials used in their manufacturing process and none of this logo crap.

The Vaja case was my favourite for a long, long time on my original iPad. I now no longer have said iPad, but still have that case. It does have the word Vaja written inside about a thousand times though :D

Oberon Design eventually topped Vaja, their cases are unique, stunning, durable and protective. They're probably a little bulky for some people, but how many cases have a freakin' pewter clasp? http://oberondesign.com/shop/cart.php?m=product_list&c=96

( No, I am not affiliated with Oberon )

As for Waterfield. I'm sure I'm not the only person lusting after this: http://www.sfbags.com/products/muzetto-outback/muzetto-outback.php

Edit: And as for that nonsense about Oberon and illegal immigrants. If they *do* hire any... well, they're absolutely freakin' amazing at making high quality cases.

Nasty? I was serious, and AL chased out all our illegals to the point it was difficult finding skilled labor willing to harvest crops. It's a small family owned business with no illegals? I could care less if it's American owned, it needs to be American operated... LoL but I see the point. I would love for Apple's manufacturing business to come back home with American workers.

I figured you were serious... That's what makes it nasty. Implying that they employ illegals without proof of same, just because of their location, is unfair. These people are artisans, not sweat shop overlords.

I need to check and see whether or not Bottega Veneta, which created some of my favorite purses that I'm still using because they are classic in styling, beautiful in workmanship and elegant to boot, makes some sort of iPad case or bag. Now THAT I'd buy in a heartbeat!

ETA: WOW, they DO!!!!!! Geeze, how did I ever MISS this?!!!!

Oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy!!!!!

Now, next to this elegant basket-woven leather look, doesn't that Louis Vuitton look like crap?

I feel kind of bad that this has turned into a bit of an all out downer on luxury things and such. So here's my really expensive daydream:

Not everybody's style, sure, but still, imagine what stories one of these bags could tell, years and years down the line.

Agreed. Saddleback Leather makes awesome "luxury" items that are well built enough to carry a 100 year warranty. I have their thin briefcase and love it for hauling my macbook pro and iPad around. Plus, it only gets better looking the more it's scratched, scuffed and banged up. Can't say the same for LV bags.

Bottega Veneta. One of their several choices for carrying and protecting one's iPad:

Now, isn't this just GORGEOUS! Elegant, refined, tasteful.....

I don't get why when people hear "Prada", "Louis Vuitton", "Gucci", they automatically think pretentious. Maybe it's not about the logo or brand, but the quality.

The incredible short sightedness of many of the posts in this thread is a clear indication of the sizes of their wallets :p

Ok I kid, but it seems to me like the snobby responses are actually coming from the lower paying accessories crowd that are here bashing on the OP's choice of style. Seriously, find yourselves a nice little waterfield/incase bags/cases thread, be happy and move on.

http://stylefrizz.com/img/louis-vuitton-ipad-case-3.jpg

It costs $390. What do you guys think about it?
OP...

Everyone has their own personal tastes. I personally love Louis Vuitton products and Gucci products as well as Old Navy and other inexpensive brands. Your clothing and or accessories DO NOT DEFINE who you are.

It definitely doesn't make me, you or anyone else pretentious because of their like of designer brands. What kills me is everyone seems to think its such a waste of $ but the majority of us on here are patiently waiting on the arrival of an iPAD....many of us that already have more than enough apple or electronic gadgets to classify it as a need...but then chastise you for wanting to protect your investment. Ha...what a friggin joke!!!

So what if it costs just about the same as your iPAD...if you have the $$ and you like it, go for it. People on here are on their 2nd and 3rd iPAD purchases suggesting other less expensive cases because you decided to step out the box...Such hypocrites....so many Apple products it's too many to list in their signature...

Anyway on to the case...I'm not a fan of sleeve cases but it isn't hideous, and despite what these people on this thread say, the LV Monogram canvas will always be the SIGNATURE LV style. Despite it being the most "knock off brand". Sure Epi leather (Soon hope to own One) and Damier (I already have one) is classier and sleeker IMO but it would still be just a sleeve.

Maybe try to find one where you can get a little more bang for your buck and offer slightly more protection. I agree though....LV leather just FEELS SOOOO GOOD!:):):D

Exactly. The quality....which sucks. You ARE aware, aren't you, that much of the Louis Vuitton stuff is not made with leather but with plastic?

The Bottega Veneta items, on the other hand, are all made with very fine-grade, genuine leather, and are carefully crafted for optimal results both in appearance and function. (You know, kind of like Apple products!) A quality product doesn't have to scream its name all over everything....think about that. And, yes, just as those in the know can spot an Apple product a mile away, so can those in the know spot a genuine Bottega Veneta bag or other item.... NO logo or name necessary, they just know it.

Dude; don't do this. Your statistics are skewed. Do you have an axe to grind?

Prada; I've heard of. No opinion.

Gucci; I've heard of. No opinion.

Louis Vutton; never heard of em until this thread.

Pretentious? Naw, not by a long shot

Don't know the logos of any of these brands, and don't really have any opinion about their quality (nor have I actually heard or read anything that I'd consider reliable regard their quality).

On the other hand, I don't bat an eyelash at paying 40$ for a 30 year old Thomas Hardy's. For *me* it's not pretentious, a waste of money, etc.
Value is a highly individual perception.

Stunning, flawless, vogue italia, perfection comment. You tell em, sis.

They think there's "no point" in having such an expensive, pretentious cover. Who said it was about the price or logo? If it's your taste, style, then get it. Price shouldn't determine it. It could also be because they're loyal to the brand, just like many people here are loyal to Apple.

It's like my friend and her brother: her brother can't understand why she needs five different hand bags, and she can't understand why he needs three different iPads plus a MacBook Pro.

Did you see the BV snakeskin one I posted previously. I've touched that leather in real life and it is just buttery. I would LOVE one.

I bet 99% of the people I interact with have no idea that my one messenger bag that I use is a BV bag.

I used to have this LV bag but sold it. It was too rigid for my taste.

BTW, I also have two Vaja cases, but I haven't cared for any of the recent ones since the original Agenda.
