What do you want in iOS 8? [Merged]

Quick reply will certainly make it to iOS 8. I've noticed over the past few years that iOS and OS X have borrowed features from each other.

Aside from that, I want a new payment method that's implemented with Touch ID and iBeacons in retail stores, customization of Control Center, notification center widgets that could be downloaded from the App Store, new algorithms that improve battery, and a night theme, similar to f.lux.

Share what your dream iOS 8 would have (and what things you'd remove from iOS 7)!

I'll start.

- A calmed down interface, less abstract but more structured. Somewhere in between iOS 6 and iOS 7.

- Removal of the terrible 'slide to power off' screen. Fade to black, really? This disappointed me about iOS 7..

- Ability to record phone calls into the voice memo app.

- Button to send via text message instead of the fiddly way it needs to be done now.

- The next milestone in Maps being better.. it's getting there, but it would be nice to be clearly updated at WWDC about the progress of Maps.

- Faster Siri launching

- Easier to read Settings app.

We all ready ave a forum about IOS 8 here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1711975/

I want to have „list” view option in the Videos app. This idiotic app does not show movie titles, hahahahahaha!

Not sure if you are talking about the same Video app I use! Mine shows a listed view of videos. Movies have tittles on their artwork, I personally much better prefer it that way!!

You are right, but keep noticed, that Movies (as kind of media) are not Music Videos. For Music Videos I see both: title and artist name. Problem with Movies: if movie has not included image-splash (image cover art, like for music tracks) within title „drawn” on this image, there is no alternative (text in fact) presentation for titles in grid (the only available) view style. Add a few Movies (not Music Video clips) — without cover images — via iTunes to your iOS device to see the (not acceptable) situation ;)

- icons that look like this:

11mezb4.png

- speeded up animations

- dark theme

- make the translucency more translucent in some areas

- new dock

- redesigned settings menu taking away the iOS 6 elements

- introduce more transparency into the music app

- have a separate iTunes Radio App

More functional Dock, and/or option to disable/enable it. Removing all icons from the Dock does not hide it :( And ability to remove (or at least hide) unused default apps (like facetime, messages etc.).

Very nice icons! Did you design them yourself?

icons that have colored backgrounds / borders like messages and not like safari / photos. (color inside / white background vs color outside / white foreground)

quick reply

F.lux option, and possibly a night theme.

Clean up settings menu, it's getting messy.

running apps side by side for ipad

multiple users. Especially now that there's touch ID have someones fingerprint log them into the corresponding user, and have an option for an unrecognized fingerprint to make calls and access certain apps that the administrator has chosen and still retain the activation lock features.

recording calls

removing game center, newsstand, stocks, passbook, and voice memos and making them optional downloads in the app store. Maybe a few others I missed as well.

possibly integrate reminders into calendar

Remove weather app and integrate it into notification center where clicking weather takes you to the weather app still.

Remove compass app and integrate it into the control center

remove clock app icon as it's already in control center as an icon, same with calculator, keep camera icon though.

speed up animations

folders show more than 9 on a page

make volume icon less huge when changing volume, and more transparent.

remove little blue dots next to updated apps

remove / move icon badge notification numbers. so they're less annoying and out of place looking

allow developers to use dynamic icons but still force them to upload static ones so the user can choose a disable dynamic icons option

allow icons to be re-arranged anywhere instead of each one moving to fill in empty positions

allow control of ringer volume and media volume from control center

change safari outline icons for bookmark and add to reading list to actual icons because they look atrocious. Also change the layout of that screen because having aidrop and then regular icons and then outline icons under that just looks terrible.

option to disable notification center and control center in safari while browsing

easier way to close all running applications, and stack the "cards" in a sort of overlapping way so you can see more applications that are running than the current one and the two next to it.

close multitasking view by clicking in the background / not on a card

keep status bar in the top of the screen when in multitasking view.

allow you to set apps to show their icons above multitasking cards as a sort of "favorite apps" location for quick launching.

and a bunch of other little things that I can't remember off the top of my head.

- I'd like to see widgets or live tiles on the springboard done the Apple way. The same old boring static icons are tiring to look at all the time.

- Let us put icons anywhere on the grid instead of having to fill up each row at a time.

This.

All day... this.

Why is this such an outlandishly difficult implementation for Apple?

I have 4 folders and 4 icons on the springboard, so would love the ability move my pieces wherever i want.

Linked in interrogation would be nice. Screw facebook.

I would like to be able to choose my colour set of the theme in ios7. Have dark grey, black and white as an option, so that hurrondous white can **** off during the night. :p

Some widgets on the lock screen that give access to my linked in feeds, weather, rss feeds etc etc. Generally some useful stuff that i can look at on the lock screen and a theme chooser, would be my most wanted. :)

I don't know about this. I don't like constantly being given the third degree by my applications.

Nova launcher. ;-)

I absolutely LOVE this launcher on my Nexus 7 and would absolutely adore it on my iPhone.

My wishlist..

*Continue to refine the design, look and feel (some positive steps since ios6 but a lot more can be done especially in some areas where there isnt a noticeable advantage in the ios7 approach)

* Allow third party keyboards (Tim cook hinted that this would be something they may get in the future in one of his interviews at all things D)

* Multi-person facetime audio and video with the ability to record the call for notes ( would be great for conferencing in business)

* Much improved SIRI and MAPS

* An options button on the side of the swipe down to search where i can choose whether i want to search for apps within the phone or the internet. That would be cool..You swipe down, type a search and toggle the internet button and you get google or bing search.

Apart from this, i am fairly satisfied with ios7 on my iPhone, and the 5s is my daily driver..I do not care much for multi windows (as if doing that is some rocket science) as was done by samsung on the note 3, or by LG on its phones (i think Lenovo does the same as well)..I don't want a "window" like experience while using my cell phone (have my mac and PC for that)..but a different approach to use multiple apps (that make sense together) could be tried. I really like the design of facebook's PAPER app and feel its a great UI for managing different things at once..

1. Dynamic Icons: calendar and clock are a good start but why not weather showing current conditions and temp?

2. Follow the same theme for all icons! Some in iOS7 have the light source at the top while others at the bottom. This is just weird... follow the same direction for all of them!

3. advanced camera options like: self timer, scene modes, etc.

4. allow theming so we can make our iPhone our own without the need to jailbreak. Some things I wanted before are included now: a 'today' view accessible on lock screen with weather and appts, and ability to block numbers.... now I jjust want the ability to them my icons. A way to do it without making the system vulnerable would be to put the icon graphics for apps in a folder that is accessible without the root access needed... separate from the rest of the files from the app itself.

These icons need re-designing:

I've never understood the Game Centre icon mainly because it screams iOS 6 and because it has nothing to do with gaming!

It's probably been mentioned already, but I'd like live app icons. If it were possible for the MLB app to show scores on the icon, or for weather app icons to show current weather, that would be pretty useful.

The ability to add/remove options to control centre would be a blessing. I don't always use location services to keep battery drain down but would like to have to quickly accessible.

The ability to have a guest mode and/or lock certain apps with a fingerprint. Fairly certain the latter exists already as a jailbreak tweak.

AirDrop between iPhone and OSX.

It being mentions already is a good thing that's what shows apple that many people want it. That is of course if apple comes to sites like this to see what we want
