Black theme or night mode because white is basic.
I am personally hoping that Apple will give something like free iCloud storage equal to your device's storage, which will mean that you always have enough room to back up your entire device each night. So if I buy the 128 gb iPad, I get 128 gb of iCloud storage free (maybe with the caveat that the storage only works for backing up that device).
That would really help justify the insanely high costs of going to the next storage tier.
5gb is definitely a joke. I easily have 7 gb of photos in my iphone, and I don't even consider myself an avid photographer. And that's not counting other stuff like iWork's documents, PDFs in notability and good reader, and other saved files.
Of course a lot of the UI needs polishing and refining, but if iOS 8 doesn't fix the music app that was broken in 7 (but absolutely perfect on 6), then that will be the major deal breaker when I'm looking for a new smartphone this year. I don't want to leave the iPhone, but if Apple can't fix the music playing experience (which pretty much brought them back into relevance), then I might have to look elsewhere.
I love the Apple ecosystem and the overall experience with the products, but my iPhone used to be my only music player and since the app took a few design and functionality hits in iOS 7, I mainly reserve my old 80GB iPod classic for music.
Healthbook and the other rumored features sound nice but I want my iPhone to regain the iPod functionalities that were lost courtesy of iOS 7. There's a lot of things that Apple needs to fix in future updates but if they can remedy the issues in the music app, I will be fairly content with iOS 8.
What's wrong with the music app?
Horrible playlist management (no option to add a song you're currently listening to to a playlist)
The way album view is laid out is not intuitive at all
You can't quickly see what songs are downloaded and which ones are in the cloud with iTunes Match.
You can't delete albums off without deleted every song individually.
There's no queue functionality or Up Next feature.

I think playlists are fine. Just add the songs you want or look for the song with the now playing animated icon and add that one.
Album view is easy if you know the album cover. Click it and you zoom in to get to the songs within the album. How is that not intuitive?
I don't use iTunes Match. But the songs with the cloud next to it are ones i purchased but haven't downloaded.
Up Next feature would be nice, yea, but the music app is not a mess. It's fully functional and adds iTunes Radio with the last 7.0 update...
But you can have your opinion.
I'm not following you on playlist management being fine. Let's say I'm listening to a song and decide I want to add it to one of my playlists. There is no way to quickly add that song. I have to go back out of now playing, tap playlists, scroll down to the playlist I want to add the song to, tap it, tap edit, tap the + button, then search for the song I'm listening to by scrolling for it or typing in its name, and then tapping the + button.
That method is ludicrous. There should just be a button to tap right in the now playing screen that let's you add it to one of your playlists.
I'm not sure what you're talking about with album view either. How do you tap on an album and zoom in? When I select an artist it slides over to a list of albums and the songs on the album. That means if I want to get to the last album from an artist I have to scroll past all the other albums and their songs in a big list.
It should be how it has been for years. You tap artist and it shows a list of the albums with just the album titles. Then you tap the album you want and it brings you to the list of songs on the album.

Let's see: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2013/09/why-ios-7-gets-music-playing-wrong.html
This explains it really well.
This and the space around the bolded artist name, I find it much more legible and easier to spot locate artists mid-scroll.Now the display forces each artist to have an accompanying piece of cover art, and not a tiny one, either, which means that only four artists are visible at any given time. It makes the experience frustrating and almost juvenile; its like having a Discman with buttons that are far too large.
This is entirely user error, not keeping an organized library. Even if you get music from other sources, you can still embed album art.Worse, if theres no available album art, the device just throws up an ugly title card, as with Bob Marley in the screenshot above. If you have ripped music from a variety of sources over the years, youre likely to end up with great swaths of your collection represented by those hideous slanted titles.
So... fewer taps, less menu's. More efficiency is bad.The problem is compounded when you drill down into the Artist menus. In the past, when you selected an artist you passed through to a submenu of all the albums that belonged to that artist. Now an artists catalogue (or the portion of the catalogue on your phone) is presented in one long ladder. Its divided by album

This article is all over the place with no logic or reason.
The only lacking feature I see is having a toggle, in the Music app itself (rather than settings) for displaying All Music or not.
I love iOS 7 and i really don't have to much of a problem with it. Would I like it to be a bit darker sure but it's not to bad. But I don't do to much with it I use iTunes Radio and some times music I bought. Really that's itI just want collapsable/selectable albums under artists just like we did before. Even the biggest iOS 7 apologists seem to dislike the music app.

I was thinking about this and i really cant decide. Of course we all want iOS 8 to be faster but besides that what do you want to see in iOS 8? I'm really looking forward to see what you all have to say.![]()
