Bluetooth is a bug bear for me, would like to have that opened up to all devices. Not all people use what's app etc..

I am personally hoping that Apple will give something like free iCloud storage equal to your device's storage, which will mean that you always have enough room to back up your entire device each night. So if I buy the 128 gb iPad, I get 128 gb of iCloud storage free (maybe with the caveat that the storage only works for backing up that device).

That would really help justify the insanely high costs of going to the next storage tier.

5gb is definitely a joke. I easily have 7 gb of photos in my iphone, and I don't even consider myself an avid photographer. And that's not counting other stuff like iWork's documents, PDFs in notability and good reader, and other saved files.

I'd love for it to say you have X number of iDevices to your name...here's 5gb for each (though, I would LOVE for it to include the same amount of storage but then why would you really need to buy more?)

I think the idea of iMovie Theater (or whatever it iix called) is interesting but not when a movie can consume the entire space you have for free. no thanks

Ten things I want in iOS 8

1. Toggle to switch 3G on and off in control centre ... this will be the best way to save battery - I live in a place with spotty 3G coverage and that is the biggest drain . I don't need 3G most of the time , but when I want to use the net there should be a quick way to switch it on
2. Location services in control center - again will really help to save battery
3. 5 GB iCloud storage per "idevice". I own and iPad an iphone to give me only 5gb for 2 devices on iCloud is not fair . The more idevices you own you actually get penalised for using iCloud!!(Restricted to 5g for backing up 2-3 iPhones or iPads!)
4.Acompli and mailbox have figured a nice way to get around apple's restrictions and sending multiple document attachments. Mailbox uses dropbox and accompli lets you view all the files on your account and send multiple files simultaneously. Currently each app allows you to send only one file at a time per email . For example if I have 5 documents on pages to be sent , I will have to send each on separately . There should be a better way to do this if apple wants us to use iPads for productivity
5. Music app is broken in iOS 7- it used to crash repeatedly . It is better with iOS 7.1 but still not as good as it could be.
6. Reply to messages from notification centre itself like on os x mavericks (I am almost sure this is coming to iOS 8)
7. Airdrop between iOS and Mac!!
8. Trash can for deleted documents, photos or messages. If you undo delete , the file can just go back to the app from which it came

9. Better way for iOS to learn words. In OS X if the inbuilt dictionary doesn't recognise a spelling you can check it and instruct it to learn spelling. Currently the way to do it in iOS to keep typing the word a few times till it adds it to the dictionary .
10. iCloud keychain had the ability to store passwords from all sites including those which didn't allow it - but for some strange reason that was taken off in iOS 7.1!

I think many of these will significantly improve the usability of a great os. I am not keen on widgets or a filesystem or customisability . I think android is a fantastic system for those who want these features. But iOS should retain its distinct identity .

Of course a lot of the UI needs polishing and refining, but if iOS 8 doesn't fix the music app that was broken in 7 (but absolutely perfect on 6), then that will be the major deal breaker when I'm looking for a new smartphone this year. I don't want to leave the iPhone, but if Apple can't fix the music playing experience (which pretty much brought them back into relevance), then I might have to look elsewhere.

I love the Apple ecosystem and the overall experience with the products, but my iPhone used to be my only music player and since the app took a few design and functionality hits in iOS 7, I mainly reserve my old 80GB iPod classic for music.

Healthbook and the other rumored features sound nice but I want my iPhone to regain the iPod functionalities that were lost courtesy of iOS 7. There's a lot of things that Apple needs to fix in future updates but if they can remedy the issues in the music app, I will be fairly content with iOS 8.

What's wrong with the music app?

Horrible playlist management (no option to add a song you're currently listening to to a playlist)

The way album view is laid out is not intuitive at all

You can't quickly see what songs are downloaded and which ones are in the cloud with iTunes Match.

You can't delete albums off without deleted every song individually.

There's no queue functionality or Up Next feature.

The albums under an artist collection or not collapsable/selectable as they were before and everything is laid out on a single page which makes scrolling to find the song you want more difficult and more time consuming. Absolutely horrible if you have an artist's full album collection.

Controllable inter app communication is my largest request. I don't want a random game accessing my contacts or a news app accessing my photos, but I would like to allow certain apps to communication so I don't have to use the tedious "Open In" constantly and create several versions of a picture or document.

I think playlists are fine. Just add the songs you want or look for the song with the now playing animated icon and add that one.

Album view is easy if you know the album cover. Click it and you zoom in to get to the songs within the album. How is that not intuitive?

I don't use iTunes Match. But the songs with the cloud next to it are ones i purchased but haven't downloaded.

Up Next feature would be nice, yea, but the music app is not a mess. It's fully functional and adds iTunes Radio with the last 7.0 update...

But you can have your opinion.

I'm not following you on playlist management being fine. Let's say I'm listening to a song and decide I want to add it to one of my playlists. There is no way to quickly add that song. I have to go back out of now playing, tap playlists, scroll down to the playlist I want to add the song to, tap it, tap edit, tap the + button, then search for the song I'm listening to by scrolling for it or typing in its name, and then tapping the + button.

That method is ludicrous. There should just be a button to tap right in the now playing screen that let's you add it to one of your playlists.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with album view either. How do you tap on an album and zoom in? When I select an artist it slides over to a list of albums and the songs on the album. That means if I want to get to the last album from an artist I have to scroll past all the other albums and their songs in a big list.

It should be how it has been for years. You tap artist and it shows a list of the albums with just the album titles. Then you tap the album you want and it brings you to the list of songs on the album.

Alright so I'm seeing we have some confusion here.

For playlists, yes.. that would be nice, but I don't think the app is not a mess because of that. I guess I wouldn't know because I don't use playlists since I pick and choose my songs or just stream them when I want something random.

For album view I thought you were talking about landscape album view. You can always just use search to get to the album. Maybe if they auto compressed the albums and you had to click them to expand them that would be convenient and not that different than it currently is too. I don't have too many albums from one specific artist... max may be 2, but I can see if you have more than 3 it can be difficult.

So, in short, the app has one or two things that could be improved, I agree.

A straight copy fo Auki would be perfect for quick reply. This could extend to handling notifications from other apps, such as archiving emails, replying in IM apps such as snapchat or facebook.

I know this is going to sound rude, and I promise I'm not a troll... but I just want everything to work again! I was very happy in iOS6, even with buggy Maps.

Everything has been down hill since then. I'd love to get back to a place where I know things will work and rock-solid again.

Up Next is a big one for me.

Also when making playlists you can't select songs from existing playlists!

Sorry but I'm with afsnyder, they've gimped the playlist functionality alot

Quick reply, better Music app (as listed above), night mode, document/file system (or at least let the Mail app hook into Dropbox or Google Drive). Looking forward to see what Apple has up its sleeve.

Now the display forces each artist to have an accompanying piece of cover art, and not a tiny one, either, which means that only four artists are visible at any given time. It makes the experience frustrating and almost juvenile; it’s like having a Discman with buttons that are far too large.
This and the space around the bolded artist name, I find it much more legible and easier to spot locate artists mid-scroll.

Worse, if there’s no available album art, the device just throws up an ugly title card, as with Bob Marley in the screenshot above. If you have ripped music from a variety of sources over the years, you’re likely to end up with great swaths of your collection represented by those hideous slanted titles.
This is entirely user error, not keeping an organized library. Even if you get music from other sources, you can still embed album art.

The problem is compounded when you drill down into the Artist menus. In the past, when you selected an artist you passed through to a submenu of all the albums that belonged to that artist. Now an artist’s catalogue (or the portion of the catalogue on your phone) is presented in one long ladder. It’s divided by album
So... fewer taps, less menu's. More efficiency is bad.

This article is all over the place with no logic or reason.

The only lacking feature I see is having a toggle, in the Music app itself (rather than settings) for displaying All Music or not.

I just want collapsable/selectable albums under artists just like we did before. Even the biggest iOS 7 apologists seem to dislike the music app.

I love iOS 7 and i really don't have to much of a problem with it. Would I like it to be a bit darker sure but it's not to bad. But I don't do to much with it I use iTunes Radio and some times music I bought. Really that's it

I hope the music app takes design cues from the remote app because that now playing screen looks awesome! But collapsable albums is a must especially if you have large artist collections like I do. Apple should definitely get rid of the red/pink on white color scheme too because that's tacky looking.

A more useful and intuitive landscape mode would be greatly appreciated as well.

I was thinking about this and i really cant decide. Of course we all want iOS 8 to be faster but besides that what do you want to see in iOS 8? I'm really looking forward to see what you all have to say.:)

Calendar:
1) I'd like to have the ability to select the location of an event by either selecting an address from one of my contact "cards" or entering a business's name, and perhaps a city and state.

Example: Suppose I have a doctor's appointment coming up and will need to know where the appointment is. I have a listing for my doctor in the Contacts app, and this listing contains the address of the office in which my appointment will be. It'd be nice if I could simply tell the phone that my appointment is at Dr. So-And-So's office.

2) Calendar should be able to figure out when I should head to an event whose location is stored in the event's details, factoring in what the traffic conditions along the best route will be in the immediate future.

The biggest thing for me that Apple needs to start doing predictive search, much like Google Now. I want to be able to touch the home button and be able to see a few bits of info that is important to me without having to launch individual apps, like any weather alerts, current stock info, a live sports score, a traffic alert, etc. if I had an Android device the Google Now widget would be my home page. In a way, they are already doing this with PassBook, which brings up tickets when I enter the place I'm going to be using them. I LOVE that.

In the same vein, it would be nice for some icons to be live, such as the weather app showing the current temp or the stock app showing the Dow. The calander and clocks apps already do this. Perhaps instead of square icons, rectangular ones that can show info without having to launch the app?

Also nice to have Siri always listening so I can do a search without even picking the phone up (if I can do a voice search while the phone was still in my pocket why would I even need an iWatch?).

More iCloud storage (5gb per device at least). I always having to delete photos...

File manager application- Finder.
For example you have 2 pdf files at iBooks application and 3 pdf files on 3rd party application. At Finder you could see all those 5 pdf files together and could make them all in one email attachment. Finder would index all files from all application in one place.

Because now adding multiply attachments to an email is pain in the ass or finding where you have left your doc file.

iOS 6 smoothness and speed would be a good start...My JB iP5 on iOS 6.1.2 moves in and out of apps quicker than an iP5s on iOS 7. :D
