modify the bubble color for sms, for some reason the green bubble hurts; it's too "neon"

Of course a lot of the UI needs polishing and refining, but if iOS 8 doesn't fix the music app that was broken in 7 (but absolutely perfect on 6), then that will be the major deal breaker when I'm looking for a new smartphone this year. I don't want to leave the iPhone, but if Apple can't fix the music playing experience (which pretty much brought them back into relevance), then I might have to look elsewhere.

I love the Apple ecosystem and the overall experience with the products, but my iPhone used to be my only music player and since the app took a few design and functionality hits in iOS 7, I mainly reserve my old 80GB iPod classic for music.

Healthbook and the other rumored features sound nice but I want my iPhone to regain the iPod functionalities that were lost courtesy of iOS 7. There's a lot of things that Apple needs to fix in future updates but if they can remedy the issues in the music app, I will be fairly content with iOS 8.

Make sure you at least look at the music app on Android phones before you commit. You could be going from bad to worse. I'm curious as to what's so bad about the music app?

Have the best battery life... so I can use the phone for at least 5 years.

I know this will never happen...

With the iPhone 6, and maybe iPhone 5 >, I want the ability to rotate the home screen and switch between landscape and portrait. I also want flexibility of where Apps can go, and I want home screen widgets. You can't tell me an iPhone 6 shouldn't be able to handle that, which is my phone when it's released.

1. USB on the go (particularly for cameras)
2. AirDrop that works with Mac osx. (Pure stupidity that it currently doesn't)
3. Document repository (I had to update a word doc and and excel doc I received through email, I updated them in iWork... But couldn't attach them to one email. Infuriating when you are rushed)
4. Swiping on the keyboard or function for moving the cursor

Most of these apply to work. Apple just doesn't understand work at all. How they are making any progress in enterprise with iPads is beyond me. But I expect it will stop soon. People will realise they can't do what they need to do. MS Office won't change that in the way it was designed to iOS limitations.

Macstories has posted their own wish list for ios8. :)

That is a great list. It really makes you realize how many small simple features are missing from iOS.

I definitely agree with him on iCloud storage and photo storage. Photo Stream is a convoluted mess and Apple really should be working on a better way for iOS users to backup their photos. I mean every other iPhone commercial is about taking pictures. It's something everyone uses their iPhone for, and yet there is no simple straightforward backup solution built into iOS. Not to mention the free iCloud storage is a joke. This is a prime example of Apple being really behind when it comes to online services.

The music app really needs an update. Again, Apple is synonymous with music and listening to music, and the music app is insanely lacking. Playlist management is atrocious. There's no queue functionality or up next feature. The album view is a disaster.

Siri needs to work offline for dictation and local functions.

I am personally hoping that Apple will give something like free iCloud storage equal to your device's storage, which will mean that you always have enough room to back up your entire device each night. So if I buy the 128 gb iPad, I get 128 gb of iCloud storage free (maybe with the caveat that the storage only works for backing up that device).

That would really help justify the insanely high costs of going to the next storage tier.

5gb is definitely a joke. I easily have 7 gb of photos in my iphone, and I don't even consider myself an avid photographer. And that's not counting other stuff like iWork's documents, PDFs in notability and good reader, and other saved files.

Just tell everyone you know to get Apple devices....

Emmm in my country there aren't any subsidize for smartphones. So by current prices brand new iPhone 5S= two Galaxy S4, even iPhone 4S cost more than Galaxy S4. Not even talking about cheapier android smartphones.Furthermore, not everyone spends so much money for smartphone...

Well you don't need the same amount of space as your phone cuz it only backs up data my things like the apps only the data from the apps.

I was joking - but it probably doesn't work for non native English speakers.

I assume you want to be able to send them pictures of your shiny iDevice just to make them jealous?

I know, and you likely won't need that much space anyways unless you max out your iPad's storage. I just felt that it made a nice round number for easy tracking. :p
