Tim Cook gone.... I really wish he would retire.

If there was ever someone who was focused just on how can we make things cheaper and get people to climb the product ladder, it was him. Lets let our computers languish until half our customers leave until we can launch our own chips, instead of hey lets keep up in the meantime. Hey look, these keyboards keep failing, lets keep trying to make it work. Hey, lets not license patents...to the point we need to pull our products off of shelves. I know, lets keep including 8GB of ram on our e-waste, it will make us look cheaper and force people to purchase a new machine sooner. Lets make our iPad line so hard to compare from one device to another. How about we reinvent ourselves like GE did into a financial services company. Lets pour millions (billions?) into something we aren't even remotely connected to and isn't in our wheelhouse (literally), lets build a car. Oh yeah, bugs? We don't need to fix no stinking bugs... give them more emojis.
We can't leave, there is nowhere to go :D

I'd like see Apple release a dock. Maybe a regular & a pro dock that uses 2x thunderbolt ports made combined into a single connector for the Mackbook Pros for double the bandwidth

This would be a dock that doesn't overheat, or have firmware, sleep issues, fits with Apple design nicely etc.

I need some advice. I have a late 2015 iMac 27 5K. It's no good for video editing and generally very slow. I've been waiting past 2 years thinking a proper big iMac/iMac Pro will be released. It seems it may happen but not before 2025. Should I just get a mac studio + studio display (when mac studio gets m3max update). I really like the all in one solution, and ideally would prefer not to separate display + mac studio. Also not interested in a laptop. I would ideally like a 32 inch display but what I understand they are 4k monitors and don't scale well when paired with mac.
I highly doubt Apple will release a larger iMac again at all. A lot of people want it, I don’t get why though.
I have no regrets buying and replacing my old 2013 iMac to a Studio and ASD. It’s a much better solution than iMac's.
You can use the display to next Mac, more cost effective also for sure.
If Apple would release a 32" ASD I might be interested to add that to my set up, or another 27" later might look better. For now I'm good with my desktop. More interested to see what portable Apple will release this or next yr.

Not insane storage and ram upgrade prices on Mac. This is literally the thing that has stopped me from buying a new mac. Wasn't a big deal in the era when you could DIY upgrade ram and storage, but that is no longer the state of things. Also, their pricing is just out of whack with the world-- well outside of normal Apple margins. I just bought a Samsung 256gb m.2 drive (for a pi) for $16!

Related: Base ram and storage in 2024 should really be 16/512. Even if you think it's fine today (I don't), 8/256 is HUGELY limiting the uesful lifespan of products. Bad for customers that often just buy the cheapest (and then think Macs are bad because of the ram/storage limitations), bad for the environment.

Fix MacOS system settings.

That's really it. Mac hardware is great, iPhone hardware is great, watch is great, iPad I don't care about.

App Store enhancements. This store has been really dumb for so long...

I want to be able to save apps or games to my favourites list.
I want to be able to sort apps within category by date added. And by price. And by rating.
I want to be able to see the newest apps within the given category.

Pretty basic stuff for any online store. Yet, App Store does not have it...

Fingers crossed.

What would I like to see? A new M3 iPad Air for less than $600. Or is that an already endangered species?

Push major update cycle to 2 years. Insert a complete major bug fix release every other 2 years. Skip silly innovations. Keep things that just work.

FIX every bloody thing related to iCloud syncing!

An iPhone costing more than a laptop is just ridiculous if you can’t harness the power the same way.

HomePod with an actual screen on it to compete with Google, Amazon etc. Put a FaceTime camera in it with Center Stage. Let me access my Apple Music account with some other basic apps like YouTube, YouTubeTV, AppleTV+ etc.

Dream: It looks like an iMac G4

Bring back Airport.
An Apple Airport at this point would cost $1500. Apple dropped Airport because they did not make enough money. The fired staff started up Ubiquity. Go get a Ubiquity AP. The management UI is better than Apple's was at any time.

If Apple is a profitable behemoth it’s because they sell very good products. There is no ”profit at the cost of the actual product” because the more expensive the product is, the worse it will sell. We’re not their hostages. And based on results, it seems like people consider Apple’s value proposition per price under Cook is better than ever.
Well, then why have I stopped recommending Apple products to family and friends after they have berated me with Apple bugs, bad UI, and lost data. Biggest complaint, how come I can't do xxxxxx any more. Where did that setting go. Why can't I turn that off or on. Where did my yyyyyy go. That UI does not make any sense. Why do I always have to reboot to get things working. Apple is the old Microsoft form the 90's.

Now I just say, "You're the one that bought an Apple device, live with it. Apple has your money and after that they don't care."

All Apple cares about these days is the hype for the next Keynote or Product Release for customers. And give me more, more , more money for management and the shareholders.

Great list, but I have to ask if there's anything in particular you want improved on the TV remote?
Yep, for it to quit selecting and doing things I don't want it to do. The silly little touch surface inside the select button is as stupid as the charge port on the bottom of the mouse.

Did you win a sweepstakes or something for all that? I think the PC world has got that lucky customer taken care of. Apple’s strategy is integrated graphics these days, so the pick-a-part paradigm belongs exclusively to PCs now.
Haha. To answer your question….. I was in the market for a new Mac over the summer and started speccing out a Mac Studio M2 Max With an Apple display that was height adjustable. i said to myself “self, this is insane and is going to run almost $5k”. So I looked around and built that with a nice 4K 32” monitor for $3500 total and couldn’t be happier. Only thing missing is Mac OS but the wealth of available software and peripheral options more than makes up for it. The thing screams too and slams an M2 Ultra in all the benchmarks. Draws some serious power under load but I built it quiet.

The Colourful MacBook
Apple should have a laptop in their line that is explicitly aimed at students (or family use)
Portable iMacs like the old colourful iBooks.
A grade 6 kid should not have the same laptop as Tim Cook just because Tim Cook doesn't need a MacBook Pro.
Segmenting by cohort, Apple can make the right trade-offs for more focused machines.
The kids laptop can look like a kids laptop, ruggedized and colourful, come in a bit cheaper.
The MacBook Air can largely stay the same; tailored for executives. Maybe they'll want the option of a 5G modem with a monthly plan. Maybe they'll pay a little more for a retina display. Sleek and professional.

A Logitech Aquisition
Much like Apple's acquisition of Beats, by purchasing Logitech, Apple gets to serve customers they don't currently and make technology aimed at a different segment.
Microphones
Mechanical keboards with TouchID, Webcams with FaceID. Ergonomic Mice. And they can sell this stuff to PC users in addition to Mac folks.

iBooks+
A subscription for Books. Anyone who reads to their kids will know that picture books on the iPad can be $10-$20 and kids want new stories all the time. Spending $400 per month for bedtime stories just isn't going to happen.Kindle Unlimited already does this. You're limited to 5 books at a time, I think. Apple could also commission original titles.

Apple doesn't sell to non-Apple marketplace , so why acquire a company that sells products that duplicate some of their products. Headphones, Mouse, Keyboards, Speakers, etc. Logitech is big with gaming accessories, Apple still hasn't presented a image of supporting gaming yet, even with a few comments during WWDC 2023. Logitech is very competitive with its pricing, Apple is not.

I want Apple to take Apple Watch to the next level and properly compete with Garmin / WHOOP / Polar / COROS / Oura Ring. And I hope the X / 10 edition does just that. Would love them to offer better recovery metrics, HRV during sleep, tweak bike power settings, control a smart bike trainer power, precision start on all watches, all day HR and let Appel watch apps take health readings directly on the watch. Also 25% extension on battery life would be all we need..

You're right. PCs are usually faster and cheaper than Mac desktops. The only area Macs were best-in-class were laptops.

Imagine the confusion when the Apple delegation arrives and stumbles across a mouse that is adult sized and has has buttons
